That's fuckin nasty. Like has already been posted, there is too much uncureable disease and viruses in mouse and rats to eat them. If they are going to expose themselves to potential plagues, it's only fair they they are quarantined. Eat whatever you want, just don't get a rack of other people sick.
I saw a discovery channel show about a group of people in India who eat field rats as a special treat. The family, kids and all were hunting the rats in holes in a field. I assume these field rats are cleaner than the common city rats we are used to.

There are billions of people in China. And you best believe that the vast majority of these people are poor as Hell. So, I believe that they have to eat whatever they can catch. They can't afford to be picky at all. If it's protein of any kind, they'll probably eat it. And it's "FREE."
Rats are readily available in many parts of the world. I believe they were native to Europe, but when the Europeans started colonizing every fucking place, they brought their vermin with them on their ships.
I know people in the South (my family members) who eat opossum and raccoons and shit like that. They don't eat them raw, but they eat them. If you'll eat an opossum, I can't see why you wouldn't eat a rat. I wouldn't eat either knowingly.
