The part that pisses me off is when you get a raise, they'll increase it. If you get a cut in pay, they won't decrease it, and they'll tell you to get a 2nd job. It happened to 2 guys a I know. One dude got his shit increased after his BM told the folks that he got a sizeable Xmas bonus. Don't know why he felt the need to mention that shit to her.
Must have a shitty lawyer, because if amount of support will decrease by at least $100.00 in Texas at least, you go to court and get a reduction. Unless they can prove that your are intentionally under employing yourself....

The arrears are a beast. Too many guys don’t pay attention until they’re cooked.
With that being said, its important that you get visitation or some form of custody so you not just equating your child to paying the bill. If you have to go to court to fight for getting time with your child, do that and make it plain and clear.

One of my homies BM tried to use her grandparents address (they live in DC) when his son turned 18 and was going off to college so he could continue paying child support while his son was in school....That's the law in DC, but in Maryland, where she resides, once the kid turns 18 you don't have to pay....

In NY, you would have to request a modification hearing/review. Also, you have to request that the garnishment is stopped upon your child turning 21. It doesn't halt automatically. It took me 6+ months of weekly calls to finally get them to stop taking $.

NC has this law as well. I'm very familiar. Glad it worked out for him though. I know a dude that took Child support out on himself so she couldn't say that he never paid anything. You really learn about people when there's money involved. One of the attorneys I went to when I was going through my mess told me that "she will attempt to use your child as a pawn, a sword, and a shield". he was absolutely correct

2) Get Joint Custody by any means necessary
3) NO MONEY OUTSIDE OF WHAT'S ORDERED
4) KEEP EVERY FREAKING PAYMENT RECEIPT
5) STAY THE FUCK OFF SOCIAL MEDIA BECAUSE THEY WILL GO SEE WHAT YOU ARE DOING. IF YOU MENTION A NEW JOB THEY WILL RAISE THE RATES AND WOMEN ARE SPITEFUL ABD WILL LIGHT YOUR ASS UP IF THEY SEE YOU WITH A NEW BROAD.
