Chess Tournament Home Page

just got a message that one of yall was cheating last tournament:

We have detected that one or more of your recent opponents has violated our Fair Play Policy. As compensation for potentially unfair rating losses, we adjusted your following ratings:
Daily: 1430 + 50 => 1480
:smh: :eek::hmm:

Took wayyyyy too many L’s to be cheating.
That would be like cheating to make sure Trump lost, but letting Mitch win.

Finally broke down and did the video lessons on the site. Now that I see they help, I’m going to do it again.

Got the same message. Chess.com closed Mafamaticks' account. He beat me in a game with something like 98% accuracy in the analysis. I thought it was wild at the time but chalked it up to a bad day and going against an unfamiliar opponent. Anyway, you're the real winner of our last tournament.

Guess with mafamatiks getting the boot, it will be hard to get 5....I will kick it off at 10.30 CST if not other takers

I don't understand, why we can't get more people to participate. I understand people have better things to do but folks come in this thread asking to play but never participate in the tournaments...

I think it's mostly two reasons:

1) Some people know the basics and want to get better, but just don't think they're ready for our tournaments. Honestly, these chess threads give off a trial by fire vibe and not a way to learn/improve. You post cool chess videos, but we don't discuss openings/defenses or analyze our games at all. Hell, we've been playing in these tournaments for years and still don't practice basic chess etiquette like "good game" after a long match. To be fair, it has become less common but if you play the same people over and over, I'd expect folks to be a little more engaging.

2) People don't want to run the risk of getting embarrassed in under ten moves or whatever. Maybe they think the BGOL chess wolves would never let them live it down...

I am certainly guilty here. I can't remember the last time I said gg.... on the other hand I have seen more and more people play with the chat feature disabled.....and really more interested in just getting a game in.

As for analyzing the games...I do use the app to analyze and it is damn informative....

I need to spend more time with the learning videos; which I have done lately and noticed immediate improvement. Anyway...it would be nice of more folk signed up for whatever reason.

I've mostly play in my phone for the pass six years. I forget to say gg at the end.

I used to play other tournaments but it take 900 years for someone to make a move. I remember one time it took two years to finish this one tournament because people were taking too fucking long to make a move.
