CAR TIPS / INFORMATION / REPAIR

Finding a good, honest mechanic is damn near harder than finding a politician who keeps every promise. They know you usually have no clue what’s actually wrong with your car, so some of them see you coming and start adding shit to the bill. “Well, while we’ve got it apart…”

I know there are honest mechanics out there, but sometimes it feels like finding one is a damn scavenger hunt. Just sayin.

Agreed.

And IF you find the right mechanic(s) ... stay loyal to them. Mention that you appreciated the work they did, and that you will be referring friends & family to them. That way they are less likely to want to fuck you over in the long run. They want loyal customers & good word of mouth.

My pops mostly dealt with the same 2 - 3 places for decades. Felt they were more fair than others.

Back in the 80s and 90s there was a neighborhood guy too (family friend) who worked on peoples' cars in his garage some blocks away. He passed away in the early-2000s, but was good people. One of his daughters used to babysit us as kids.

Great thread, thanks for the posts.

That dude with the axle who couldnt break that nut, felt like he probably didnt chisel out the lock that gets tapped in. If it wasnt, I would of chiseled off that nut, done it many times and buy a new one. But that breaker bar didnt even look like a 1/2", cheap tools.
