CAMP LO Lyrics That Make me Feel Uncomfortable

So just because they are from harlem and supposedly pimp like then you overlook their blatant gay lyrics:lol: Maan I swear most of you would excuse a pimp with blue eye shadow and glitter as straight just because they are your idols. The lyrics are clearly "Undercover faqqot lovers love my satin covers , how anyone would excuse this is beyond me. And using the 70's as an excuse :smh: homo's have been around since goodness knows when.

They are talented though their wordplay is like no other rappers I know.

somestimes i think their name denotes their sexuality because CAMP is also another name for gay and lo maybe means down low hence Camp lo is
At the time, the word ‘camp’ is a group of people and we run with a camp. We were running with the name ‘Cee-Lo’ so we changed it from ‘Cee’ to straight ‘Camp’. There’s that cat down in Atlanta doing that ‘Cee-Lo’ thing. (Goodie Mob). We took the ‘C’ and made it ‘Camp’ and then, we ran with the ‘Lo’. Chances are, the music we make is pretty low. You know what I’m saying? The odds are against you finding a group just like us. We expect that from ourselves… that we will make music that is not like anything else you will hear that is out at the time.”

you'd have to attack biggie to for calling dudes "Love" all the time as well.

I wanna say it's just before your time, but their shit is timeless, so it's really just over your head.

They do dress kinda flamboyant for my taste though.

If anything, Camp Lo is one of the most underrated hip hop duos to every come on the scene. After Luchini came out back in the day, I was sold.

Everything is gay to some of you cats. Can't appreciate the art for what it is. :smh:

The lyric just went over your head.

What he is saying is gay niggas is sweating his style. Instead of just saying "homo niggas sweating my style"(something most rappers say as a diss, not necessarily talking about real gay people that's why he said UNDERCOVER) he twisted around and you didn't get it.

The first line is...

Jiggas and figgas of coolie faced shadow boxers
Under cover faggot lovers
Dig my Salie Struthers...

First of all you must understand where this is coming from...It's 70's blaxplotation slang.

So jiggas and figgas are just that...jigs or coons so to speak.
Coolie faced is a reference to Coolie High and it meant just that being the coolest of the cool.
Shadow boxers are the same as today just people who play games.
Salie Struthers was on All In The Family with Archie Bunker who was about as ignorant as you can get.

So you put it all together and you get some coon ass dudes who are trying to fool everybody into thinking they cool but in reality they are faggots. The next line about Salie Struthers is like his apology for being ignorant by calling dudes faggots (Archie Bunker) but he calling them like he see it. Just like Archie did.

The pretty shit was just that. Pretty Tony or Ghostface for instance. It was nothing for a dude who was light skinned adn acted like he was high class shit or a pimp to call himself Pretty. So he said he fucking with some pretty brown niggas as in like it's an oxymoron. How can you be pretty AND brown. To a dude in the 70's that shit made perfect sense. Ol pretty brown nigga!

OK THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

you completely cleared that up for me:yes::yes:

lol ok you gotta understand that the day i made this thread, i was with my boy an we were both rocking some skinny jeans, scarfs an such. then sparkle comes on and i was like ".....YO SOMETHING AIN'T RIGHT HERE":lol:

2:00 minute mark lyrics

These are the lyrics that are on the net:
"And who that? The king in Aerofin Geechie Suede
I ride up on a wave and pursue their gameplays"

What the audio actually sounds like:
"And who that? The KIN OF Aerofin Geechie Suede
I ride up on a wave and pursue their GAYBLADE" (which actually rhymes with suede)

What I wanna know is how do you change a hook from "Nigga come on" ond the CD to "Suga come on?" on the radio version? I heard the radio verison first thinking that it was chick friendly hook. So when I heard the original, I was about to play it at a party and I was like  this song aint talkin' bout no chicks?!?!

In the entire history of hip hop, has anyone changed their lyrics from referencing a female to referencing a male.....in a different version of the same song...or vice-versa? They still dropped a classic CD tho'.

I swear, for a site that is full of so many people who proport anti-gay everything, there is always some thread saying X is gay, or Y is gay. Gay things are talked about more here than on some GLAAD message boards. Geez.

All that matters to me is that these dudes made good music. I think it's funny that we long since accepted rap music dealing with killing, pushing drugs, or demeaning women, but some bars that might could possibly sorta be construed as slightly less that uber machismo warrants a thread?

Really?

yeah, i caught that line back in the day and was like... :hmm: but sparkle is still one of my favorite camp lo songs.

but the most disturbing line in a song i've ever heard was biggie on what's beef... "don't they know my nigga gutta fuckin' kidnap kids... fuck 'em in the ass, through 'em over the bridge"

:smh::smh::smh:

i have no problem with gay people, i was just saying...

peace

2 yrs later
1st of all

What's the dude with his shirt open's name & what did the main character call himself numerous times via his style, dress, real swagger & overall outwardly bragadacious way he carried himself to where hookers became impressed?
Its so influential, street kats & a famous MC also have used the moniker in & with the same context;
I guess RickyD was/is gay too since in LaDeDaDe, he talks so much of how fly he's getting, overwhelming even himself

2nd of all
How u sound & figure questioning anybody if this?
lol ok you gotta understand that the day i made this thread, i was with my boy an we were both rocking some skinny jeans, scarfs an such. then sparkle comes on and i was like ".....YO SOMETHING AIN'T RIGHT HERE":lol:
U said it:rolleyes:

J Storm said:
They was about to set it on Joe Cleezy for him saying they were "Soft".
Thhey'd probably set it on them if they saw him or heard them thinking like that in real life.

Some of y'all need to stick to R&B or something less complex;
Real lil B type homo rappers couold get on the mic, talking touh shit yet muggs wanna over analyze shit & contexts of terms & speech they may not really understand:hmm:
sad

peace
