I need to find the title and artist.
This is old school, late seventies or early eighties. Sparrow was dropping 3 lps a year and I thought it might be him but I can't find it listed under his name.
I thought it might be Swallow but same as above. It could even be Sparrow.
This is because of the way the singer's name fits into the chorus which is the only thing I remember. It goes:

girls sing - wine, _________, wine, do what you want to do

I wine, I wine, I hold she from behind,
I make she touch her toes and I start to grind she ball

girls sing -wine, ________, wine, do what you want to do

I wine down the place, I kiss she on she face, I promise she taste so she shake she waist, she ball

girls sing - wine, _________, wine do what you want to do
darling do you, hold me to you

So, old school heads that remember road march back then and Harmonites I need your help. Many thanks.

Brother may be you should start by looking up "Calypso" instead of Soca. Calypso was MORE prevalent back in the 70's & 80's as it's the opposite in today's day, that Soca is more prevalent.

Have you tried "Arrow"?

Actually, in that era they were one and the same but you have a good point.

No. I don't think it was Arrow. I can't remember whether I was on 'tigua or Trini but the song was entered in road march.

If you're still looking for this, can ask the fam, he's an old school DJ with Borokeete.
Will see him this weekend.

Yes, please. Much appreciated.

On the one hand thank you. On the other, dammit now that fucking tune is back in my head. It took me weeks to get it out and now it's back. mirrass

You ever tried singing it into one of these song app things that finds music?
I forget what it is but I know there's stuff that can find songs by listening, like store music or something. May be able to find this, but I suspect it's old calypso like Baron or Byron Lee. They sung songs like that. But will ask my wife's fam. He "knows" his old school music. And was at a backyard party with him playing the past weekend for mothers day

No, I haven't tried that mostly because the singer's name is in the part I remember but I can't remember the singer's name. And if I could remember the name, well, you get the idea.

Found it.

@knightmelodic so I gave him the words a few days ago and was with him today so asked again if he could think of it. Said it sounds calypsonian but he can't figure out what the song is, and he knows a catalog of old tunes.

You must have some words wrong maybe. But it would be easiest if he heard something like a person humming it or even a similar riddim. But for those words, he doesn't think you're right on the words.

Thanks bro.

Nah. I got the words right believe me. I'm going to go look through my old lps and see if I can't find it. I'm pretty sure I've got the lp.

Man I gotta a serious question. No disrespect. But why does all soca music sound the same. I’ve heard they like to protect the sound. But why?

Is this the song? This song still reminds me of Tilden Hall in Brooklyn in the early 1990's. Good times....good times.

That's a good question. I never really thought about it but I'm sure there's a reason.

It's the tempo that's the same in the Calypso/Soca I listen(ed) to which leads to the close similarity.

As you might have guessed, its roots are Afrikan. Here's wikis take:

Wish I could ID this, but I thought it would be nice to drop a "roots" Calypso tune.

This song be bring tears to my eyes bros. My mom's gone but she was a wicked Calypso dancer.

I doubt that's it, that's one of the biggest songs from back then, well known. Unless the words he put in the original post are wrong.

Asked my DJ fam and he was stumped, and he's from that era, Borokete times.

Don't recall hearing this at all, but was pretty damn accurate to what you remembered of it.

I remember seeing him at The Audubon. One of the songs he did but they stretched it. Seemed to go on for half an hour. Errbody was soaking wet afterwards cause the guys were doing exactly what he said in the song. good times.
