Cali Fires & Katrina; Response Different ???

The only way to know for sure is to see what happens when a similar crisis jumps off in Oakland
it already did back in the early 90s half the fuckin hills burned. i don't remember anything like this then. i recall people being FUCKED.

They did do a good job with the collapsed freeway ramp tho.

F.A.Y. is right, there are many differences between the disasters in N.O. and S.D., which makes some aspects of comparing the two like apples and oranges. What I would like to see in the end is a comparison of the aid provided to Katrina victims vs. the aid offered to San Diego fire victims. That is, if homeowners from San Diego are treated the same as homeowners from New Orleans; and if non-homeowners from San Diego are treated the same as non-homeowners New Orleans.

BG,

Did the assistance offered in the Oakland fire differ from that being offered in the San Diego fire ??? (considering too that there's about a 10 to 15 years difference in time).

Yeah I consider the time difference. There was no arena with starbucks and catered food. Thats for sure. I remember people having to migrate to various family and praying insurance took care of them. I recall alot of people being fucked by insurance. Actually this was more than 10-15 years ago. It was the very early 90s like 90 or 91. 92 at latest. Hard to remember exactly which year. There definitely wasn't any type of federal involvement but then again FEMA wasn't invented yet then.

Somehow I doubt they are going to keep the S.D, people in asbestos trailers for 2 years but it remains to be seen....

Try as many are, there is no comparison between Katrina and the San Diego area fires......PERIOD!! Add to it the lessons learned from the errors made during Katrina, which were mostly made at the State and Federal levels, the San Diego fires were bound to be handled differently. On the race issue, sure it's dumb to say it's all about race but it's equally dumb to say it's not about race at some level. The problem is saying to what degree it played a factor. No one involved is going to admit they made decisions based on race and how is anyone going to prove it unless the decision makers confess so whats the point. Just say it had some effect but we'll probably never know how much and leave it at that.

Check history, "it" happened in the Oakland Hills few years ago, keep trying to tell you'll. Look more into how people are being flocked. Like when the sheepherder dog gathers sheep for his master.

Media, sure does have a hold on alot of people, they have this one so far spun, even the greatest skeptics are being fooled...
