Although it's not the end of the world with her missing. But you have to strike the iron while it's hot. Who cares why CC is popular and if she is the best fit. We are here now and she is a big draw for the sport. Save the "it's an international tournament" talk. Women basketball in the USA has been in the dumps for years. It's finally turning around and fan engagement is the highest it's been in years. Keep that momentum going as long as possible. It's pretty simple. How many more fans would have followed team USA with CC vs without?

And as for as I know, she hasn't fucked it up with a bunch of silly tats. She'll be able to use that to tap into markets CC can't. Brink is another one. NO hate on CC..she'll be set too. She has plenty of market appeal for other reasons. Sex symbol won't be one of them.

I believe that Arike should be on the women's Olympic team. I can see them leaving off Diana but they'll need her grit and experience.

Griner could've been left off too they also might need her size and experience. Both her and Diana could've been left off but their experience and intangibles has them on the team.
