Actually not bad for the lakers. Kept kuzma and I don’t really put much stock in the three 1st rounders.

Good deal for the pelicans too for what they are trying to do.

And the west is wiiiiide open.

good haul for NO

Williamson
Ingram
Holiday
Lonzo
Hart
#4 pick
future firsts
decent nucleus to build around

Lakers
Lebron
AD
Kuzma
not sure who else is still signed for next yr

As of now I still think Houston is the team to beat out west
but many changes are coming in the next few weeks

Ingram got blood clot issues
Lonzo still can't shoot
Hart regressed his second season and saw his minutes decrease throughout the season
4 pick in a three player draft
Other picks most likely to be in the 20's with the Lakers most likely having a good record

Pelicans got something out of potentially nothing but they will struggle for the next few seasons

Kept Kuzma.
Dude has potential.
So I'm happy for them.

They had to do something since KD and Klay are out next year. Hopefully one more piece walks on during FA and they'll be set. With AD there; it makes them so appealing for a legit 2020 run.

Happy AD didn't go to my Knicks. We would've fucked him up. Hopefully nobody goes to the Knicks, and they see that there is a problem that they need to address with the ownership & head office.

It's not like the nfl. Those will all be late 1st rounders (outside of 1) and really not that meaningful. You do this deal all day every day to get a superstar in his prime.

Exactly

How many rookies played on Toronto in the Finals?

Or for GSW?

I'm not arguing your points but you know sports, for basketball, New Orleans is probably the lowest pressure environment in the NBA, maybe those kids can turn it around without the pressure of LA and LA expectations.

Teams gonna have their hands so full with Bron & Davis... that it’s gonna mean that Kuzma is gonna get a lot more shots during the first 3 quarters of every game. So I wouldn’t doubt if Kuzma becomes an All-Star next season, if he can hit his open shots. He won’t need to drop huge numbers, just stay consistent around 20/10.

You should feel like you have a chance to win the title again.

With GSW down, the West will be wide open outside of Houston, Denver, and Portland who the Lakers should be able to beat.

If they can get a decent bench, they should be ok. If not a smart coach will exploit the time those 2 aren't on the court. Bron can't be playing 40 minutes a night. They better take a page out of the Spurs playbook and rest cuzz if he's not too busy stat padding.

Ingram is expected back season
Lonzo I think he may get traded again, Suns would like him
Hart should be fine, that whole team regressed after the failed AD trade lasy yr
2 of the top 4 picks, most rebuilding teams will take it
yes those picks should be in the 20's but it's no guarantee.
its tough when the franchise player demands a trade, I think they did the best they could

Lakers gave up the farm :eek2:

But they kept the best cow!

This looks like the Pelicans lost from a narrative perspective. Who gives a fuck about three #28-ish picks?

Will Lakers gamble on one-year audition for Anthony Davis? Kyle Kuzma is key
By TANIA GANGULI and BRODERICK TURNER
LA Times

Perhaps Round 2 will be more successful than Round 1 was for the Lakers, who are trying to trade for New Orleans Pelicans All-Star forward Anthony Davis again.

Whether or not they are able to nab Davis, at 26 the league’s premiere big man, could hinge on how willing they are to part with their young stars — Kyle Kuzma in particular.

The Pelicans are interested in three of the Lakers’ young players — whether that’s Kuzma, Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram or Josh Hart — and the No. 4 draft pick in order to acquire Davis, according to people familiar with the trade discussions who were not authorized to speak publicly. It’s possible New Orleans could use the No. 4 pick to acquire a player from a third team.

Among the young Lakers, New Orleans covets Kuzma the most.

Kuzma’s contract is less than those of Ingram and Ball. Kuzma has two years left on his contract that are worth about $5.5 million, the second of which is a team option. Ball’s contract also has two years left with a club option, but it’s worth $19.72 million. Ingram has a year left at $7.27 million and could then become a restricted free agent.

According to people familiar with the Lakers’ thinking, Kuzma has ingratiated himself with the organization both on the court and off, and management does not want to trade the forward, who is entering his third season. The Lakers might have an opportunity to keep their No. 4 pick should they agree to part with Kuzma.

What are the rules about trading players who just got traded.

I'm sure the Pelicans can't trade Lonzo immediately after getting him but LaVar can't come down here.

I think Kuzma can be decent on defense if he works harder and learns to focus more. The problem is they were playing him at the 5 and he's not a rim protector.

I think they can traded him again. If NO were to buy him out, he couldn't go back to LAL
NBA closed that loophole a couple of years ago

Magic offered the same deal at trade deadline, only that one included Kuzma.

Plus BI is in the last year of his deal. Will be looking for big money in 2020-21. I’d bet he’s no longer a Pel after this season.

So they got Hart, Zo, 4th pick plus two late firsts for AD. This will be looked back as one of the worst trades in modern history.

New Orleans lost.

My real questions are:

1) Did the Pelicans value that draft pick over Kuzma?

2) What the hell are they going to do with it?

Have to see that before really assessing the trade on the Pelicans side.
Keep in mind the Pelicans also lost their ‘Veteran Leadership’ in the locker room, by trading Davis. It’s just a bunch of Rookies & 2nd and 3rd year players now. :smh:

It will be interesting to see who they fill the bench with.
I think LA has like 4 or 5 currently signed players
its going to be a completely new team
should be a really interesting year and free agency didn't even start yet

No loss from that perspective-- He was going to be a distraction at best and a cancer at worse. I would not have counted on "That's All Folks" at all for veteran leadership.

Pels should’ve rapped the lakers when they had the chance a couple of months ago.

Magic’s offer:

The Lakers offered Kyle Kuzma, Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Rajon Rondo, Lance Stephenson, Michael Beasley and two first-round picks

One of those picks was the 4
