Boyz N The Hood

But my nigga MC Eiht killed that Streiht Up Menace song for the Menace soundtrack

"you actin like a lil bitch right now nigga. fuck that, i aint lettin that shit ride."

and i think every nigga tried that lil move with they car that Cain pulled on ole girl in the parkinglot when he went to the bbq. seen one nigga do that shit and got in an accident. stupid ass didnt have no insurance. str8 to jail......and newp he didnt get the number.

i like Menace but Boyz N The Hood had more of a message at the end of it all. plus it was the first & all the movies after it just took that formula & ran w/ it.

"BOYZ" was like an ABC Afterschool Special compared to "MENACE".

"MENACE" left my Girl at the time and I emotionally and physically drained after we left the theater. We couldn't speak for a few hours after watching it. It did what movies are supposed to do. It just hit a major nerve.

The only reason why "BOYZ" has its status is because it was the first of its kind/genre.

But I have to be honest.
I remember more from "BOYZ" than I do from "MENACE".

Boyz; lot of knowledge was dropped in that movie

Ive said it before, but Boyz N The Hood will always be better to me because I can relate to Trey's and just the pitfalls he was surrounded by.

Damn, tough call, but I gotta roll with Boyz on this one. Not only was it a good film but being a kid the time it dropped and seeing Singleton do his thing influenced me into getting into film making and is the reason I'm out here now.

Even though some may have found it corny or whatever At the time it seemed like a movie that was saying what needed to be said on a few issues. And had a better overall clearer message. So i appreciate it for that. The characters were better defined and easier to sympathise with too.

Two different movies....one was dealing with a father and son being raised while the other was about survival in the ghetto. Only similarities was LA. Even with that big difference being raised in a house compared to a housing project.

I gave the nod to menace for 1 reason...It was fucking RAW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Both great fucking movies Boys was more rounded at the edges for audience appeal, not fucking menace:smh:

Menace said we aint toning shit down this how it is!

".

This I agree with. Boyz was kind of sentimental in my view. Most folks in LA at the time that I knew felt the same. That's not to say Boyz was an inferior movie, just that Singleton was saying one thing and the Hughes Bros were saying another. Singleton was sending a message. The Hughes Bros were making a point.

Boyz in the Hood was fucking depressing. Morris getting shot was fucking sad.

Menace did the same thing but instead of making it depressing they made it entertaining. Kane kinda got what was coming to him.

Menace was wayy more entertaining.

I remember seeing them shaking bodies in Menace. Had me scared as shit. Imagine seeing that in real life as a kid ?
