Bloody brawl breaks out on packed Spirit flight from LA to Detroit forcing plane to make an emergency landing after a passenger trying to sleep became upset with others being loud
  • The fight broke out Thursday after a passenger got angry that fellow flyers and a member of cabin crew were being too loud
  • Police in Des Moines said they couldn't arrested the man who started the altercation because they were flying over Nebraska so that state had jurisdiction
  • A witness complained they had to wait on the plane two hours and cabin crew did not clean up the blood
  • The witness said she was shocked the people fighting were allowed to continue on to Michigan

A Spirit airlines flight from Los Angeles to Detroit was diverted to Iowa last Thursday after a bloody fight broke out on board.

The physical altercation broke out after one passenger became upset that others were being loud while he was trying to sleep.

In video footage obtained by ClickOnDetroit shows the pair throwing punches during the disagreement while flight attendants fail to break up the two. The clip was blurred to protect the identity of fellow passengers.

'We were in shock, really. We couldn't believe it was happening,' a passenger told ClickOnDetroit. 'It was really scary. I had my kids with me and everybody was like, "Oh my God".'

'Everyone was like, "Why aren't you doing anything?" They were like, "We don't get paid enough to deal with this,"' she added.

The witness claimed when the two involved in the fight were notified about the emergency landing they 'ran to the bathroom' to change before the marshals came 'because they had blood all over their clothes and they didn't want to be recognized.'

The plane was stopped in Iowa for two hours from 3.13am. That passenger was removed from the plane.

'It appears that he was the victim of the assault but initiated the dispute on the flight,' Des Moines police Sgt. Paul Parizek told KETV. 'It started because he wanted to sleep and he protested other people, including a flight attendant, talking too loudly.'

'We did not arrest anyone. Pretty unique situation. It was determined that the incident took place over Nebraska, so DMPD has no jurisdiction. At the crew's request, we escorted one passenger off the plane, and it continued on to Detroit,' Parizek said. 'He was free to go.'

The witness said the airline allowed the passenger to continue onward to Michigan.

She also complained that the plane was almost full despite the airline reassuring people they would be spaced out in the seating arrangement.

The witness claimed the blood from the fight remained on surfaces.

'They didn't clean the blood,' she said. 'Sat there for two hours, everyone sucking everyone's coronavirus.'

The passengers were not identified and Des Moines International Airport said it was investigating.

and this is why the airlines should have never been given any bailout money

I can understand dude who was doing damage changing up clothes so he's not recognized. However, with the described bloody massacre, wtf is dude gonna do by changing up to fresh clothes while he's leaking and swolle like that Martin episode. :dunno:
