If that's the case, I wonder how many tragedies/deaths/near-deaths it's going to take before we see Ichigo's second transfromation again.

c/s I think thats the main reason aizen said he'll be back to eat him. But I still call bullshit seeing as how isshin was WTFBBQPWNing him and 3 of the most powerful charcters in bleach didnt even scratch him....plot kai
Did you forget that the hogyoku was inside Rukia in the beginning of the series? I think he already had the aid of the hogyoku.
I hate to say it, but I think Orihime has to be there for him to transform like that. (that might be stretching it)

With you saying that it makes a lot of sense as to why Ichigo's Power Set is always increasing he touched the Hogyoku before Aizen, still I'm hoping that its more than that I still believed that his mother has a part to play in it as well, being a relative/descendant of the King of Soul Society but I'll continue following the story!!!
Yeah, kats always seem to forget that little detail. The hogyoku was in Rukia at the beginning and she "gave" Ichigo her power. Something from the hogyoku HAD to transfer over to him. I think he can only become most powerful when he's trying to protect people he cares about. He doesn't really care about the captains, they tried to kill Rukia and he doesn't like the soul society. So he couldn't become more powerful in that fight in fake Karakura Town.
I think they'll tell more now that he and his father are in the precipice world.
Yeah but something we overlooked as well, his father told him that he 'Didn't protect someone close to him when they needed it the most, would he run away and cry?' I believe that his dad was referencing his mother's demise, which leads me to also think that when he was younger he had to have some aspect of a power for his father to say something like that to him, again the story is filling out nicely, unlike the story that's Naruto.
I have a theory that the hogyoku wasn't placed in rukia untill Urahara gave her the reatsu draining gigai. The reason for this was the gigai would eventually turn rukia human and with the hogyoku in her then it would be destroyed. Now after she went missing somehow Aizen figured out she had and thats why he setup the whole thing to get her back to soul society before it was too late. So i'm not too sure if Ichigo's awakening was because of the hogyoku since rukia didn't have it at the time.
I think Aizen's plan hasn't come to fruition yet. Destroying the janitor was a strategic move. He wants/needs Ichigo to max out for some reason.

bleach is crap, so now all of a sudden Ichigo who went up against Kenpachi, Kuchiki, and Ulquirro and thought he had no chance of winning is now scared? I guess he isn't willing to fight unless he is trying to save Orihimme in hopes of getting pussy

This isn't the first time Ichigo got shook. He was shook when Ulquiorra had his second resurrection, he felt his power and got scared and that's when he got a hollow hole blown in his chest....and well you know.
This time Unohana told him to wait until he sees an opening. There was no opening when Aizen was fucking everybody up. Plus he's the only one that could feel Aizen's power, he's a fifteen year old kid. He just watched dude get hit with blows that destroyed city blocks and laugh it off. He should be shook.
Does the author need time (or an excuse) to illustrate what's going on with the other characters? Where are the others that are still in Hueco Mundo?

It was a funny issue, just off the strength of that. It might not be so light for Gin because now he's going to have to choose between Aizen and the big tittied chick....Matsumoto. Plus... You can't kill Don Kanoji!!!!
