Black Lives Don’t Matter, Black Votes Do: the Racial Hypocrisy of Hillary and Bill Clinton

So who you voting for? Trump? A Trump election will fuck us just on the Supreme Court picks he'd make . I don't get your point here. We know Hilary ain't shit but Trump is far worse so there is no point making this thread.

bruh, don't bother with kats like him. :smh:

For starters... I'm very serious.

And secondly, through new voter ID laws, gerrymandering, uncounted votes, vote rigging, and non-felon voting restrictions... I wouldn't hardly call that progress choosing between a blatant racist and/or a systematic racist in 2016.

What other form of progress have black people made?

So you don't think that black people would be worse off under a Trump presidency? I gave my reasons here why we would have been worse off under a McCain presidency, and McCain at least would have been somewhat competent.

Keep in mind progress doesn't mean perfection. It doesn't mean there are no longer problems, it just means that things are not as bad as they used to be. Do we still have racial discrimination in employment? Yes, but you no longer have people putting "whites only" ads in newspapers. If there is a history or pattern of discrimination and/or it can be proven, then there are consequences for it.

We still have discrimination in health care. You have doctors that don't believe black people can feel pain and thinking we complain about pain to get pain meds. But at least we can go to any hospital. We don't have to go to the black hospital or find a kind white doctor who will come to our homes to treat us or our children.

White people were able to say and do all sorts of racist things about black people. I can't recall who it was but we even had a member on here share how white boys would just walk up to them and hit them or whatever, how openly hostile and racist white people were. Trump has encouraged violence in his rallies. During the civil rights period, white folks were all on tv giving interviews about how they don't want black people in their area, or how horrible black people, calling us ni@@ers, with no personal repercussions . The last few years let a video or tweet or facebook post emerge with someone disparaging blacks, and they may lose their job or get expelled from school.

I think we have so many young people who haven't faced the blatant in your face racism in their day to day lives that they don't see the progress, but it is definitely there. And now you basically have a GOP candidate wanting to take us back to the the era where black people walking down the street had to justify their reason for being there by implementing stop and frisk nationwide. SMH. I don't understand how that does not trouble people or how they think that would be the same under a Hillary presidency.

Trump will show you. I promise he will. He just said if President he would try to implement nationwide stop and frisk.

It's the same shit people in NJ said when Chris Christie ran for Governor the first time. I know a girl that said the same shit dudes on this board say. Both parties the same. All candidates the same.

I talked to her after Christie had been elected, and she told me the after school programs she depended and tuition programs she depended on for her kids' educations no longer existed and she didn't know how she was going to keep them in.

"How can they just do that???"

I told her, "that was just Chris Christie letting you know just how much the same he really is."

Trump has tried to clean it up some, but he has already said he thinks that Americans are paid too much. That is a businessman speaking trying to pay as little as possible, give as few benefits as possible and maximize his profits. There was a 2014 article on forbes about walmart that said they have cost the country over 6 billion in public assistance. That's just walmart alone. http://www.forbes.com/sites/clareoc...-2-billion-in-public-assistance/#2a30b0017cd8

The republicans see anyone not actually running a business and employing others as a "taker". That means most of us. They also want to privatize social security and other programs. Some stuff just doesn't need to be ran privately.

I see where you're coming from. But we need to be honest about how dire our present situation has remained.

Giving euphemisms like "we progressed", "things aren't as bad", and "we're moving forward" are false narratives not accurately explaining our terrible situation.

I believe that maybe Trump would be a good idea for black people to mobilize and eliminate racism/white supremacy.

Clinton will put black people to sleep and we won't have a chance in staying vigilant against racism/white terrorism.

Black people have become too complacent, and I include myself in that criticism, but there is no guarantee people would wake up and exercise political power vs falling back on the mindset that black people will never get ahead, falling into despair, or just lashing our angrily with no focus etc. Many don't see or understand the impact that politics, especially locally elected officials, have in their daily lives. Many don't see politics as hip or cool, they see it as something that old folks think about, mainly because all they see is old white men in powerful positions. I'm still learning myself. I think there was a lot of momentum behind the election of Obama, and now that black people are engaged, the challenge is to keep us engaged. BLM, social media, etc can be used as tools for this. I think if things were simplified: This is so and so, they have done xyx, if they are elected they will control xyz, this impacts you this way, vote for or against them, we would get much better results. Or there is a city council meeting on such and such a date, they are discussing xyz, you need to show up or do xyz because this impacts you in this way. (Not to control black people, or tell them who to vote for, but sometimes folks need to be spoon fed info to help them figure out how things work.) I'd donate money to a cause that would just send out postcards to black areas with that information on it, or had an email list for different counties, cities, states, to keep getting us out for midterms. We don't have black news papers anymore that used to provide information about how things locally specifically affect black people.

Our educational system varies everywhere, but I can't recall being taught how government affects us in a way to make it personal, or how to engage effectively to drive an agenda or get things done. As bad as people think things are, they can be much worse, IMO. People are dismissing the voting suppression tactics as a distraction, but if our votes didn't matter, if the mobilization of black folks these past 8 years didn't scare the hell out of them, they wouldn't be trying so hard to disenfranchise us. The GOP was fine as long as we weren't actually out actively exercising our right to vote, but the turnout for Obama scared them. You remember what happened to acorn, right? The laws that can be implemented and the havoc that can play out while waiting for people to wake up is not worth the risk to me.

Dude the work can only be done if you get the right person in office. At least she speaks against police injustice while Trump dances around the issue by saying our issue is voilence in our communities and he'll solve it with stop and frisk.

You make demands from them and get their answers to get your support. You can't make demands after they are in and think they have a reason to hear them. Then you hold them accountable to what they said in regards to your demands.

Fact is no demands were made of Obama , people just assumed as a black man he would understand and act on that. But he hasn't stopped working for those who have made demands even with the obstruction.

You can't just hope they will be better once they get there which is what we do over and over and over

Once again she says what is called for to get votes.

How much was she talking about Sean Bell, Timothy Stansbury, Ousmane Zongo while she was the senator of NY....Or any of the unarmed black people killed while she has been in the public eye ?

You will see the only murder she spoke on back then was Diallo and that was because she was running against Giuliani and Diallo's murder happened on his watch.

Trump is a clown and caters to his base to get their support.

What has Hillary said she will do to solve the problem to get our support ? Platitudes is what.

I'm not sure where to put this, didn't want to make another thread, so I'm going to put it here since I mentioned the possibility of having an openly hostile atmosphere race-wise in this country again if Trump is elected. Honestly, even if he isn't angry white folks will probably still be a problem. It's just simple graffiti but I'm hoping things don't start to escalate as white folks always overreact to stuff like this and Trump supporters seem to take things personally.

Answer that man questions without being so basic in discourse.
