So you don't think that black people would be worse off under a Trump presidency? I gave my reasons
here why we would have been worse off under a McCain presidency, and McCain at least would have been somewhat competent.
Keep in mind progress doesn't mean perfection. It doesn't mean there are no longer problems, it just means that things are not as bad as they used to be. Do we still have racial discrimination in employment? Yes, but you no longer have people putting "whites only" ads in newspapers. If there is a history or pattern of discrimination and/or it can be proven, then there are consequences for it.
We still have discrimination in health care. You have doctors that don't believe black people can feel pain and thinking we complain about pain to get pain meds. But at least we can go to any hospital. We don't have to go to the black hospital or find a kind white doctor who will come to our homes to treat us or our children.
White people were able to say and do all sorts of racist things about black people. I can't recall who it was but we even had a member on here share how white boys would just walk up to them and hit them or whatever, how openly hostile and racist white people were. Trump has encouraged violence in his rallies. During the civil rights period, white folks were all on tv giving interviews about how they don't want black people in their area, or how horrible black people, calling us ni@@ers, with no personal repercussions . The last few years let a video or tweet or facebook post emerge with someone disparaging blacks, and they may lose their job or get expelled from school.
I think we have so many young people who haven't faced the blatant in your face racism in their day to day lives that they don't see the progress, but it is definitely there. And now you basically have a GOP candidate wanting to take us back to the the era where black people walking down the street had to justify their reason for being there by implementing stop and frisk nationwide. SMH. I don't understand how that does not trouble people or how they think that would be the same under a Hillary presidency.
