bets on how long it takes for this to gain traction and some one to ask Obama about it...

Why in the hell is BGOL my great majority knowledge source
Fuck it I love every minute of it and this is the reason I pay for it.
Every time someone asks if I've heard of something I be like yup. They say where, I'm like uh, um on the internet.

why ask Obama about it? It's too early for that. By the time that gets some traction it he will be long gone.
That would just be some shit to litmus test him for nothing.
Dude has a problem with "America" and not with white people (including the interviewer) that are racist/white supremacist suspects?
Not logical at all. You can't be and should not be mad at a so called "state". Focus on the people because the people are the so called "state".
And yeah, We are all not in this. Who is We?
Same here. People don't even ask me much anymore, they always assume I already know which is more than likely the truth thanks to BGOL.
In other words, he should expect to be asked about this at the next press conference.
And that is spitting into the wind. Talking about White people won't get anything done. But addressing the State and how it was the laws used that held down Black people puts it in a easier to understand, more readily addressed form.
Truth.
But its white people that make up the state. No use for abstracts. Lets be clear and precise. What's wrong with that?
I get what you are saying, but this can be resolved in two ways:
1) an armed revolution
OR
2) holding the government accountable by going after the policies that allowed the plunder and injury to persist. You don't sue the people who work for the company individually, you sue the company. The government, who is elected and financed by the people, has to be held accountable first.
YES. We as black people should get at white folks as a collective and as individuals. All this state talk abstracts the whole reality and makes white folks very comfortable. We as a collective and individuals have suffered enough to make white folks comfortable.

The Nat Turner side of me agrees 100%. context of white supremacy and all that. But kefta, these muthafuckas after ALL THIS TIME, wont even pass a bill to "study" reparations. So how do we get the ball rolling? If you hands were on the wheel what would be the best approach?
Brest approach...? Focus on the people. Black folks have less to lose and more to gain. White folks have more to lose and less to gain. Focus on the people and if they can't take it, well let them have the earth to themselves. Its enough what they are doing to us...

how abstract is that? what does, 'focus on the people' mean. how do you 'focus on the people?'
The reason he's doing that is the moment he dwells on whites, he will be branded an "angry black man." His approach may actually work. Listen past the 14:30 mark where Moyers thought he'd cornered him. His response was sheer genius: "what makes you think blacks know the answer to this? What are blacks to do with thisa acknowlegdement, going forward" I'm paraphrasing. Dude was on point.
Dude, did you see what went down at Bundy Ranch in Nevada?? Armed militants went there and the federal government actually stood down. That should be an indication to how much these cacs are ready to die for their cause, which means the last thing on their mind is handing their money over to us. He concocted a good way of making the case, i'm paraphrasing but he said: "[Reperations] would come out of my tax dollars too." See what he did there? He's saying this is an American issue, rather than a black/white issue. Sure, its a kid gloves approach, but you sure can't stereotype him as a lazy , angry black man with the case he's makinh. I think he makes the best case so far. And we need to band together to keep this flame burning.
On a personal note, i'm getting my reparations by any means necessary, even if it means I have to steal it back. And no I dont give a fuck.
For all your bluster about the context of white supremacy, you really dont know much about reovlutionary theory, black nationalism, or anything having to do with actually combatting white supremacy. THIS is your answer! Focus on the people?
What Tanihisi Coates did was use housing as a lens into the way White supremacy has disadvantaged us and given aid to whites. Why?
1. A house is the largest asset most people own and is therefore the primary way that average Americans pass down wealth from one generation to the next. Focussing on housing therefore means focussing on wealth and its transfer between generation.
2. Housing has records that go back some time. This means he has years of recorded data and he can track the wealth gap using that data. You can't do that as easily with education, which would have been another area to target to make the case for reparations.
3. When you focus on wealth, youre not going to ask people to donate money, or give up their houses, reparations could only be granted by the govt. The gov't is the only viable way for reperations to be adminstered.
If youre not in favor of reparations fine. But I'd love to know what your position is? What black thinkers are you a student of and who do you think has the best thinking on the black american struggle? I mean lets get past the bullshit of the context of white supremacy and get into the context of the black struggle? Or do you just want me to post a pic of my hand to prove I'm black?
YOu havent done enough reading. The state is the apparatus used by white folks to codify, meaning to put into law and into practice the system of white supremacy. The state is the ARM of white supremacy. Your first paragraph is a contradiction. I- nah, I'm done here. You just dont know enough and I'm not going to waste time with you. You havent read enough, thought deeply enough or debated enough and you therefore just don't even have the prerequisite for me to engage you.Again, address the racist/white supremacists directly and not the so called state. The latter is abstract and does not point to the real problem which is white folks practicing racism/white supremacy on a global, national and local level. This is not and should not be a problem that is reduced to "America".
Moreover, this should also go beyond housing. It should also include land, education, freedom of movement, freedom to organize, access to loans with zero interest, etc... The list is long.
I am a student of all people that are offering constructive information that is aimed at improving the situation of black people, addressing white conduct and replacing racism/white supremacy with JUSTICE. E.g. Amos Wilson, Neely Fuller, Dr. Clark, Malcolm, Mandela, etc... The list is long.
And yeah, I am for reparations and I respect what the brother is doing. My opinion is that the whole state approach masks the global, national and local system of racism/white supremacy. The people to address are ALL white people on the universe and not some nation state. We do not want to go the UN route. They will just deceive us even more.
BTW, have you been in the identity thread yet? If not, please do so ASAP.

No Sir. Everything begins with people. Without people you would not have nation states, organizations, institutions, firms, cooperations, etc. Everything begins with people. Thus, the focus should be ALL white people on the universe be they members of parliament, shoppers, prostitutes, bankers, teachers, doctors, lawyers, judges, etc.
All white people should be addressed and called out and not what we all loosely refer to as "America".
