1. Eileen Gu and her parents are Chinese. Are we really surprised she chose to represent China despite being an American citizen. Many athletes does this all the time.

2. It's funny,how he calls out China's human rights violations but not Israel's. This country gives Israel billions of dollars every year but he want to call out China.

What we're doing is much worse what these entertainers are doing. Instead of giving Israel billions of dollars for no reason;how about putting that money for good use like education,free health care,improving roads,building new or improving this country's infrastructure and etc. Of course,that will never happen.

3. Don't he know that the United States has a surveillance programs just like China too.

I don’t always agree with Maher, but I understand where he’s coming from here.

We have a serious problem in this country with grown adults believing in non-practical entities. I think its been reported that up to 75% of Americans believe in angels, 73% in a heaven or a hell, etc etc. Having traveled this country from coast to coast, that number is about accurate. That kind of faith in an unproven belief system is rampant in American society, especially politics.

Now am I directly saying that believing the Hulk is real is leading us into an abyss? Not exactly, but what I am saying is that its people with that level of belief of a man made image, that are running this country and banking on your vote, to maintain the status quo, to fuck everyone over 24/7.

That’s for damn certain.

Remove that kinda non-sensical fanaticism and belief and politicians would cease to exist. They’d actually have to bank on real and tangible changes. It’s not a coincidence that while we have amassed a great wealth here, the average citizen continues to be overlooked and two steps closer to poverty everyday.

And it’s hard to say that faith in the impractical, doesn’t sit at the core of the issues here.

I don’t think his beef is with Stan Lee himself, but more so that we live in a place where were quicker to be led by fantasy than reality, and when there’s rampant homelessness, unaffordable housing, private healthcare, piss poor education, food insecurity, etc plaguing us ..

There has yet to be a culture discovered, no matter how primitive, no matter how advanced, that does not have a history of mythology as long as memory of the culture itself.

The issue is, as I see it, twofold.

1. Maher is a bigot. He pretends to be "black friendly" and "black accepted" but neither are true. He is basically an asshole,
who doesn't like anybody not like him. He is not into comics, ergo, by his logic, anyone who is, is suspect.

2. AMERICAN comics tend to be super hero oriented, at least the most popular titles that have wide appeal. Americans want to see people shot up, abused, shit blowing up, tits, ass, and holy vengeance reaped upon the antagonist, usually in that order. Not much else there.

European and Asian comics, on the other hand, are generally accepted in their respective cultures as merely another form of communication, like film, or radio. They generally have much better artists too, whereas everybody, even children, are muscle bound in USA comics.

American comics are in line with what we have been conditioned to accept as mythology: good vs. evil, with no gray areas, a messiah, almost always a white guy who gets the girl at the end of the story. The patriarchy of the Christian church is reflected in the stories of Galactus and the Silver Surfer.

This is the part that is a problem: not that Americans are obsessed with fantasy, but the nature of the fantasy with which they are obsessed.

Believe me, I love Marvel films as much as the next man, and I have no dog in this fight. I’m simply keeping it objective.
