Biden administration grants temporary protected status to Haitian immigrants living in US
TPS protects nationals of certain countries from deportation and allows them to apply for work permits.
The Biden administration on Saturday announced it is granting Temporary Protected Status (TPS) to Haitian nationals who are currently living in the U.S. for 18 months amid ongoing security concerns, poverty and human rights abuses in the country.
TPS protects nationals of designated countries living in the U.S. from potential deportation if they are eligible and also allows them to apply for work permits, as well as giving them the freedom to travel. Those eligible for the Haitian TPS designation need to be in the country as of May 21.

now watch the response..
@xfactor @VAiz4hustlaz @Supersav
@BKF @zod16 @God Dammit @Shaka54 @
The U.S. is a major reason why Haiti is fucked in the first place. The current president is a US puppet.
And what about the ones who have already been deported?
@geechiedan
So he threw most of them out then put a stop on throwing them out so it doesn’t look like he had already thrown them out?!?!
He threw out more Haitians during the first two months of his administration than Trump did in all of (fiscal year) 2020!!
“More Haitians have been removed to Haiti in the weeks since President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris took office than during all of fiscal year 2020,” according to the Invisible Wall report, published by the Haitian Bridge Alliance, the Quixote Center, and the UndocuBlack Network.
Make it make sense geechie!! Make it make sense!
I stand by those statements, but they’re ancillary to the discussion at hand. The point is that Biden’s policies toward Haitian immigrants isn’t all that different from Trump and the GOP. This is what YOU are loathe to acknowledge about your white Zaddy!
They NEVER want to address the actual issue or topic. I pointed out how Biden had deported more Haitians in the first couple of months of 2021 than Trump did all last year, and notice how geechie and the rest of the Blue MAGAs and Bidets went into immediate deflection mode.
So let's sum it up...geechie supports Biden and doesn't care about Haitians.
@VAiz4hustlaz points out biden's bullshit and instead of addressing his faults we get a back and forth about nothing
Let’s put it this way…..I’m generally agnostic on this particular issue of Haitian immigration. But I am zealous about pointing out when and where the Biden administration or the Democrats generally equivocate or violate their stated positions or their appearance of a position on a given issue. Immigration is just of the many issues where they do this.
Imagine if a Republican administration had deported more Haitians in two months than all of last year. You’d hear constant talk about the racism and xenophobia of the policy. But when it’s a Democratic administration, you hear crickets. And when anyone points out that the same activity is occurring, regardless of the veneer that is placed on it, that person gets vilified as opposed to the policy itself.
When see this right now with issues like immigration, unemployment, student loan debt, support for Israel, reparations, and the like.
So I will keep pointing it out, just as geechie and his minions will keep caping for Biden.
The game is the game……..always.
They only care about Haitians when they need an anti-dem talking point. Otherwise, it's fuck'em.Trump administration ends extension of Haiti's temporary protected status
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem is vacating a Biden administration decision to extend the status into 2026.
The Trump administration on Thursday canceled an extension of Temporary Protected Status for Haitians, the latest move by the president targeting the form of immigration relief for people coming from countries facing political upheaval and natural disasters.
In June, amid the island's violent domestic turmoil, the Biden administration announced the temporary immigration protection was extended for Haitians until February 2026.
The Department of Homeland Security announced Thursday that it was vacating the extension and the protections would end on Aug. 3.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem described the decision by the former administration as an attempt to "tie the hands" of President Donald Trump.
"President Trump and I are returning TPS to its original status: temporary," Noem said in the statement.
Biden extended TPS in June for Haitians who arrived in the U.S. on or before June 3, 2024, to provide humanitarian relief. The small island nation descended into widespread gang violence last year, forcing the former Haitian president to flee the country and resign.
The U.S. previously designated the status for Haitians who arrived in the country before the 2010 earthquake and renewed it as recently as 2022 prior to Biden's decision.

thats another thread....what your take on your boy trump taking away TPS for haitians?? considering you said this:Is that old fuck dead from the cancer yet?
The increased competition is just an excuse from businesses who want cheaper labor to exploit. How you blame the people and not the policy seems to be habitual for you
Another generalization... You can't speak for all Haitians on how they feel. Their struggle with oppression with the US backed puppet president is no different from our own. It makes sense tho..you think we are good here so why would you sympathize with other black people smh. You're too old to be pulling the "they don't care bout me so I don't care bout them" bullshit especially when you don't really know what you're talking about. You don't care about black people just say that
So your country fucks up these other countries, people flee because of it and you want these same people to handle their own problems? I think solidarity with other oppressed people period is important? It's clear you don't
My stance is the same. Your country fucks up these smaller countries then wanna send them back to the shit. What's different between Biden and Trump? It was the Clinton's that fucked Haiti over the mostthats another thread....what your take on your boy trump taking away TPS for haitians?? considering you said this:
so..what your opinion on what trump is doing???

I’m not Haitian so why would I care?THE 2020 ELECTION
#Hexit
In 2016, Trump won about 20 percent of the Haitian vote, according to an analysis of data from University of Florida political scientist Dan Smith. This year, Haitians for Trump are marshaling new voters by pitching the president as a businessman who will bring more jobs to the Black community. A vote for him, they argue, is a rejection of Democratic pandering.
The Biden campaign has tried to distance the Democrat from former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Some Haitians have long argued that Clinton, former President Bill Clinton and the Clinton Foundation profited off of the 2010 earthquake in Haitiand they failed to help rebuild the country. However, those claims have never been proven true and were used by the Trump campaign frequently in 2016 to court Haitian voters.
That distrust showed in the last election. In 2016, heavily Haitian precincts in Miami-Dade had a markedly lower turnout compared with overall county numbers, according to Smith.
“This is a night-and-day response from this campaign compared to 2016,” said Karen Andre, a senior adviser to Biden who’s Haitian American. “The Haitian community left from that cycle feeling they were not adequately addressed. However, that’s far from the case [now].”
Haitian Americans backing Trump argue that he has followed through on his 2016 promise to be their “greatest champion.” On Thursday, they held a virtual “Haitians for Trump MAGA Meet-up” with Alveda King, niece of Martin Luther King Jr., an evangelist and enthusiastic Trump supporter.
“We connected the community with the Truths,” organizer Madgie Nicolas tweeted. “Haitians are RESILIENT, follow@HaitianForTrump growing massively ready to reelect POTUS @realdonaldtrump.”

Haitian community in Brooklyn reacts to Trump's travel bans
President Trump's latest travel ban has made many immigrants and their families nervous about the future.
The president targeted a dozen countries in the latest ban, citing national security concerns.
He also restricted travel for people coming from seven other countries.
It doesn't apply to people with visas who are already in the United States.
In Little Haiti in Flatbush, reactions range from an insult to a shrug.
At Buffet Kreol in Flatbush, Brooklyn, around the corner from the Little Haiti train station, an image of one of the fathers of Haiti, Jean-Jacques Dessalines, stands on the roof.
Daniella Volty's mom lives in Haiti with an American visa that's set to expire soon.
"It's not based on any real reason why we have the travel ban in Haiti. If there was a real reason, I would understand it," Haitian-American Daniella Volty said.
"We are American allies. We came here and fought for this war for America ... you turn your back on your allies? Doesn't sound good to me," said Jean Marcellin, who works at Buffet Kreol.
Pierre Phnor left Haiti when he was a teenager and thinks maybe the ban isn't all bad.
"Probably will teach them a lesson so they have to respect. The Haitian is falling apart over there. Too much guns," Phnor said.
The president says starting Monday, the U.S. is blocking people from 12 countries from entering the U.S., citing national security concerns.
A dramatic escalation in his immigration crackdown.
"We want to keep bad people out of the country. The Biden administration allowed some horrendous people and we're getting them out one-by-one and we're not stopping until we get them out," President Trump said.
The ban includes countries mainly in Africa and the Middle East, among them Afghanistan, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.
People from seven countries, including Cuba and Venezuela, will have partial restrictions. They will not be able to come to the US permanently or get certain visas.
The ban comes days after an attack in Boulder, Colorado, where an Egyptian man who overstayed his visa has been charged with a federal hate crime for allegedly attacking a group of demonstrators advocating for the release of hostages in Gaza.
Egypt, though, is not one of the countries included in the travel ban.
"Well because Egypt is a country that we deal with very closely. They have things under control," Trump said.
Meanwhile, a break in the ranks in team MAGA.
Upstate New York Republican congressmember and Trump ally Mike Lawler is calling for the immediate reversal on the travel ban on Haiti, saying there is no evidence Haiti is a threat to national security.
"I think the Haitian population has long been integrated into the United States. About 40 percent of the Haitian people live in the U.S.," Lawler said.
The White House says they're targeting countries that lack proper vetting, failed to share identity and threat information or exhibit high visa overstay rates.
"The situation on the ground in Haiti is disastrous and obviously, the Haitian people have been subjected to kidnapping, murder, human trafficking," Lawler said.
The travel ban is certain to face legal challenges. President Trump said the list of countries could be updated.

Haitian TPS holders and labor union challenge deportation threat in federal court
A federal court is expected to rule this week on the Trump administration’s decision to terminate Temporary Protected Status for more than 200,000 Haitians
“Now, as the Trump administration is trying to put an end to TPS, everything that I have worked so hard to build is at risk, and the situation in Haiti is not good,” Michaud said in a press release emailed by the union. “I filed this lawsuit not just for myself and my wife, but for hundreds of thousands of my fellow Haitians here on TPS whose lives would be upended.”
