BGOL review .. BATMAN V SUPERMAN... (thoughts, summary, spoilers)

I'm curious...what differences did the extra 30 minutes make? I'll have to read this thread to find out what it is that was lacking that made folks hate on this damn near from the start
start at page 1 or watch the theatrical cut

Kevin Smith had a honest raw critique then a fair critique on youtube

doesn't sound like you have your own opinion but I'll read the thread later...good flick tho...a little long winded but I liked it...I like that it felt like more was @ stake here than civil war but I did enjoy civil war more tho overall

*edit*

lex getting his hair cut in prison def an ode to smallville...suspected they borrowed their lex from that and his pops

I've stated my opinion too many times in this thread...
Theatrical version-
as a film fan: other than the visual elements, BvS was trash in edit plot writing etc - ripoff, people expect a blockbuster to be a complete movie not a fraction

as a geek: FUCK Zack Snyder

Ultimate version-
as a film fan: much better editing, less plot holes, slightly better writing not a disaster or a rip off

as a geek: FUCK Zack Snyder

off subject: notice the different color palette in use now

i watched it last night. certain things made more sense. i couldn't believe the things they cut out the theater version that would of made it more understandable why certain things were happening. it's still an ok film.not great nor good.

just seen the martha scene after hearing about it...a little cheesy but an obvious link between them...I'm not mad @ it...ppl just wanted to choose between this and civil war w/o even seeing either flicks...to be fair I am watching the movie as it was intended to be seen and in the comfort of my home so I can pause and rewind shit if I dint get it the first time

This is ultimate edition isn't like the one shown in the theatre. The theatrical version just sucks.

I actual like this version of the film and I probably wouldn't have even complained if this was what I saw in the theatre.

Hell this thread probably would have ended at 12 pages.

I've watched it several times. And i agree. You are weirdly nitpicking. I don't know why you're nitpicking. But... i feel you are. Not just you... alot of people. So i've consigned myself as usual i just look at movies different than other people. Superhero movies anyway. I think i'm satisfied with a lot of stuff. Because it's superhero movie. I think you guys are looking for oscar winning shit. Just how i see it. Won't be turned of swayed. That's how it is.

But we weren't the only ones with issues with the theatrical film....

The one shown in the theatre just isn't a movie. It's a bunch of scenes that were put together to get to the third act.

This is actually a movie.

And this is coming from the man that was the biggest critic of the theatrical version. I absolutely hated that film. But I watched this version and I enjoyed myself.
Yes it has its issues but I will agree that the remaining issues now are just nitpicking..... When before it was major plot holes.

Yeah it's a huge difference. I mean huge difference. There were tons of keys scenes that directly addressed a bunch of the issues that we had in the theatrical version.

Personally I'm going to give Zack Synder an apology on this, because I can tell this was all Warner Brothers fault. They ruined his movie.

On the real they left about 200 to 300 million on the table with this fuck up. The ultimate edition would have easily gone over 1 billion. I would have watched this at least 3 to 4 times in the theatre.

I liked the original poster better.

Honestly i think you guys say what you say because Tical was hyping it so much. And you guys liked trolling him. Usual for boys. Whatever's fun you do it with gusto.

Anyway. My opinion stands. Nothing was wrong with the movie. The final fight just wasn't epic enough. A fight with doomsday and superman should be a city leveler. That's all. My only gripe. Anything else you guys bring up i don't care about.

Again....

I wanted to love the theatrical movie. I'm a comic geek. I was there for the midnight showing of the movie, but I'm also a pure movie fan. My comic geekiness is never going to trump my appreciation of a well made film and the film presented at the theater was edited horribly. Crucial scenes were cut out that fleshed out characters. An entire subplot was completely dropped that would have fleshed out the Africa scene.

The fact that these things aren't important to you is actually kind of hilarious.

I still respect your opinion on other things but I still vehemently disagree with you about the theatrical version.

The only good that came out of this movie is that WB realized Zac Synder is not the man to carry this franchise. It's obvious by them doing a Justice League one shot instead of two movies

Lol.... A bunch of dudes with masks on and alias names out of fear of our real identities being exposed for later Ock attempts.
:lol2:

first off...

that would be f*cking AWESOME!!!!!

on some legion on doom sh*t

just WATCH someone still yet ANOTHER one of your great ideas Fonzi.

but I was talking more podcast.

I see superhero movies for superhero action. The fights. Pretty much. To me that. And to me maintain the spirit of the books. Clark and Bruce were in the spirit of their characters. The action ....they didn't have Superman's strength right. That stuff is the stuff i look for. They had batman right. I feel that's how batman should be. He should be the crippling type guy, not just punches and kicks. He should be putting muthafuckas in traction. Sneaking around and shit and then poppin up and BAM... traction.

And my 2nd thing for superhero movies is that kids like it. I have a LOT of kids. And the kids like it. I don't care what grown people say. I don't care what they think. If the kids like it? It was a success to me. I had like 32 kids in the theater to see it and they were all jazzed. Confused at the end. But jazzed over all. So yeah... the stuff you guys complain about is nitpicking. weirdness.

Is Gotham still right across the Detroit river from metropolis?
Yeah ... i think it's so. Even tho they're both supposed to be on the east coast. Like Metropolis is supposed to New York and Gotham is supposed to be...Baltimore or something. I just know it's supposed to be a whaling town. And if i remember so was Baltimore.

There was tons of action in the first Daredevil movie and Fantastic Four 2015... Did you like those superhero movies?

Where is grownazzblackman....

I need him to come in here so we can discuss all the crap that Warner Brothers cut out that Grownazzblackman was trying to say wasn't important back when this thread was a full on Ock on this movie.

The Ultimate version made the Africa scene and the subsequent hearings make a little more sense...and that's about it. Some of the stuff actually made less sense like Clark going up the mountain and seeing his father. It didn't address Lex's motivations really at all which was one of he glaring plot holes in the movie for me.

Thanks for taking time out your busy day to tell us you don't care.

in the movie or the books?
:nerd:
books, Gotham is inspired by NYC mostly Brooklyn and Downtown Manhattan
Metropolis is inspired by NYC mostly Midtown and Queens
Bludhaven is inspired by NJ Jersey City Hoboken Newark

And then the friggin Teen Titans are NYC

Come to think of it... That actually would be a fucking awesome idea.

Image like a screen cut into 4 squares and some lucha libre masks!!!!

Or

debate desk ,the masks and the names are the screen names but we NEVER address the masks

ever.

And just have a serious debate

and mention Tical in complete disdain at various points like he was our evil former member...

"When I saw that fight scene it was horrible just terrible, may Tical's eyes be DAMNED!!!"

Or

use that bane voice modulator to give reviews

Yeah I still have no clue what his Ultimate plan was or how he figured out the secret identities of any of these people. But all of my issues with Africa and Clark actually being Clark have been fixed here. Now he comes across as a guy wanting to write a story on the Batman even though Perry wants him to cover sports and the lengths that he was willing to go to get the truth... and not just a guy complaining about why isn't the Daily Planet doing a story on Batman. He actually comes across like a character.

Even the stuff with him going to the Mountains makes sense.... because in this version you can see that he feels like he is maybe doing more harm then good right now. He started to question does the world need him. Is his presence doing more harm then good. Is the world still not ready for him. You can get this with his conversation with his Mom asking her.... Why didn't Jonathan every leave Kansas? That was him saying.... Maybe I should have stayed.

Then after the senate explosion... when didn't see the bomb and after the paramedic told him "Please get out the way and let us do our job".. He realized that he was making things worse and probably no different then what the Batman was doing.

Lois isn't just a damsel here. She is more like the Character that we saw in Man of Steel.

It was those little touches.. that really made this a better movie for me.

I'm going to give this an 8 out of 10 now. And I didn't even give the first version.. a score.

All that's cool but does nothing to address the WTF of his pops appearing on the mountain. And the old natives at the foot of the mountain saying he was going up to die made it more confusing. The reasons why he went up there that you addressed were never unclear to me, even in the theatrical cut.
