Lewis turned the "magic" off once he got into grid position but accidently turned in back on while shifting. I'm not a F1 programming expert, but a way to fix this is for Mercedes will add a restart that clears that toggle during the standing start. It's a simple ECU add to but in a clear rest button for standing start, it would change the selection of the switch or button and force the driver to select it through wheel. All depends if they have selection room on the wheel. Its doesn't sound like something that has happen during race until know.

Brake magic' is understood to be a setting used by Mercedes behind the Safety Car to help heat the brakes by altering, amongst other things, the brake bias settings. As I stated, Cluster Fuck.

Just seen the interview where Hamilton is admitting fault for turning on the 'brake magic'. He humbly admit that he didn't even know that he had done so.....

.... Toto Wolf suggestion seems to point in the direction that even though Hamilton acted in error the 'brake magic' shouldn't have completely locked up the brakes in that situation... perhaps he's trying to take some pressure and blames from Hamilton.

Mercedes running over a second or more slower, in 2020 VB and LH qualified at Austria 1:02.939 and 1:02.951 respectively, 2021 they qualified 1:04+something not right with those cars.
