“I’m an African immigrant, my situation is very much different in the way that my family interacts with the system, and I want to make sure my colleagues who come from enslaved ancestry are deciding how that policy is implemented in that regard. But I guess it should be determined by all of us and I can tell you at home it is direct payment that people want to see but also increased access to higher education, to real equitable funding in education systems, right now, across the country," she added.
