Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton welcomed a baby boy into the world on Christmas Eve — and the name he and girlfriend Kia Proctor "chose" will blow you away!
The baby name Cam, 26, and Kia, 27, picked was ... Chosen! Chosen Sebastian Newton, to be exact, reports The Charlotte Observer. And he's a hefty little guy, weighing in at 9 pounds, 6 ounces. Sounds like he has what it takes to follow in Dad's footsteps already!
"My longtime girlfriend and I were extremely blessed to have a son last week. Our family is excited and thank you all for the well wishes!" Cam tweeted. "I’ve been quiet about this because I didn’t want to create a distraction for my team and appreciate the privacy in this joyous time."
Newton kept the news hush-hush until the 30th and didn't reveal their baby's name until New Year's Eve.
Teammates say he's on cloud nine since his first child's birth.
"He’s kind of got a glow," fellow Panthers player Mike Tolbert told the Observer. "You can see something’s different about him, and obviously that’s it. I notice that he’s walking around with a much bigger smile and he’s a little bit more exuberant than anybody would be this time of year on a Thursday." Newton even cradled the football like a baby after scoring a touchdown against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday December 27.
