These are two of my favorite shows of all time. Scrubs ran from 2001-2010. John C. McGinley was a supporting character on that show. Walton Goggins played Boyd Crowder on Justified (2010-2015) and was a supporting character on that show.
Goggins was nominated for an Emmy during the first season, but I felt he got better as the series progressed and season 1 wasn't even his best work. John C McGinley was never nominated for Scrubs although he should have been
The best shows aren't made by the main character, they are made by The Supporting Cast, the people who aren't in every scene. I know one is a comedy and the other is a drama but you can't deny the talent of either.
Both of these shows owe their success to how well these two supporting actors did in their perspective roles. Neither man won Emmys or any major awards for their portrayals of these amazing characters
McGinley was a multifaceted character with various complexities played very well by John C McGinley. I don't know another actor that could have pulled it off as well, and with his Charisma and control as well as his improvisational skills, he made that role his own
I saw somewhere online that said Walton Goggins has more range than a 50 caliber bullet. I can't deny that. Whatever role he is in the dude blends in like a chameleon and bodies the role.
As Boyd Crowder he ran the Gambit of emotions and vulnerabilities as his motivations varied thru the series, well as being the anti-hero, possibly one of the best written antiheroes in the history of TV. If you haven't seen the show Justified, the dialogue during the show running was Top Notch
