1st of all I would take Karl Malone over him and how can someone underachieve with 4 rings. This sounds like something ESPN would say! I have never seen Shaq bullshitting on the court and half assing it. Explain how he underachieved

That's cool but you do remember when the Lakers played the Spurs in the playoffs the year the Lakers lost to the Pistons A limping Malone shut Ducan down the whole series.

Shaq never got props for his defense but how many times have you seen anyone driving hole with him under the glass? How many times have you seen him get dunked on? Shaq walking on the court makes his teammates better Ducan teammates were good even when he was not in the game.

Shaq gave tim duncan the nickname the big fundamentals because duncan used to light his big ass up

stop making up shit to create an argument, man

No i dont remember that. But i do remember Duncan winning 3 finals MVPs and 4rings. :dunno:

One playoff series (that i dont recall) doesnt elevate Malone over Duncan.

Did Ducan win while Jordan was still playing with the Bulls? Shaq got his rings with different teams and had 2 other finals appearances. How many times did Shaq get eliminated by the Spurs in the playoffs? O yeah explain again how Shaq underachieve

So you don't remember Malone shutting down Yao Ming, Ducan, and KG in back to back to back games and he could barely put pressure on his right leg?

Shaq has to be Better right?

Oh and I wouldnt take that peice of shit Malone over Tim

Look at Malone at #2 Shaq at #6 and Ducan waaaaaaaay down at #26 for most career points. You don't need to score when you played your career with some of the best shooters of all time. When Shaq left his teams all of them became garbage teams when Ducan retire the Spurs will still be a winning team.Look how good they played against Miami when their best 3 players stayed at home. They have a excellent coach!

Tim Duncan... Diesel underachieved by 3 rings and 2 mvps no doubt shaq was the better player by a country mile.

Do you know what year Duncan came into the league and do you know what year Jordan retired? Whats the point of that question anyway? Hakeem didnt win on MJs watch either does that somehow devalue him as an all time great? And you may want to go look at those head to head playoff series before further commenting...Then look and see when Duncan ever played with as dominate a #2 guy as Shaq had. His 1st titles were with a 35year old broken back Dave Robinson and another was with a very green Tony Parker who was benched much of the playoffs for a guy named Speedy Claxton.

So you don't remember Malone shutting down Yao Ming, Ducan, and KG in back to back to back games and he could barely put pressure on his right leg?
No, i dont recall Malone "shutting down" Duncan. How many times are you gonna ask me that?

Is this a discussion about better careers or better scorers?

Hes a fan of Franco Harris so u know what that makes him
POS.

this nigga l9ikjam has to be under 21

Why bc I won't agree that Ducan is better than Shaq?!!? I don't think Ducan should even be mentioned in the same name with Shaq. I'LL ASK AGAIN EXPLAIN HOW SHAQ UNDERACHIEVED! You say something but but won't come up with a reason. Let's do it like this........ Put Ducan in his prime on the 2012 Bobcats and put Shaq in his prime with them and who do you think could turn that team around? Shaq on the Bobcats they becomes a playoff team as soon as he puts his uniform on. case closed!

off dominance alone.........shaq. they tripled team him and he was still crushing ninjas.

Yeah he was a beast until he hit the free throw line. Because of that fact I'm going with Duncan. No showboating just a solid everyday player.

the most dominant center ever should have more titles than 4. I have the same complaint about Wilt. There was a period of time where Shaq was swept out of the playoffs 4 years in a row. IMO, he should have atleast 6 or 7 championships. That Shaq/Kobe Laker dynasty should have cruised to 5 or 6 championships. Shaq should have more than 1 MVP and don't tell me he was cheated out of winning. the most dominant center ever should not have been so easy to vote against. Duncan has won with totally different teams around him. Dude won a championship with Avery Johnson as his starting point guard.

i feel this argument is apples and oranges. Comparing players who play different positions will always be difficult

Tim Duncan, Shaq was dominant but severely under achieved! Never worked on his game.

sent from my Galaxy Note II

Damn.

I don't like either one of these motherfuckers.

I "hate" Duncan for boring me to death with his style of play, and for wearing boring ass uniforms.

I hate Shaq because I'm a Kobe fan. :hmm:

Shaq three-peated, peeps. That has to mean SOMETHING.

Tim Duncan didn't have superstars, but he had multiple guys who were stars or borderline stars, and, imo, one of the greatest coaches ever. Finals MVPs for Duncan aren't exactly a huge accomplishment, imo. He was EASILY the best player on each team he played on. Boring or not, those were some very well rounded teams, and were very well coached.

My knock against Duncan is, he just never seemed like a TRULY DOMINANT all-time big man. When you compare him to all the other dominant big men of in the top 10 all-time PLAYER - not big men - he just doesn't compare.

He's DEFINITELY not seeing Dream, Wilt, or Kareem. One finished top 10 in points, rebounds, steals, and blocks; another finished as the all-time leading scorer and arguably the greatest basketball player ever; one scored 100 points, averaged 50ppg for a season, and, without question, the most dominant force to ever play in the NBA.

Duncan? He won championships, but what did HE bring to the table individually that blows you away?

When I rank players, I always ask myself, 'How would this player be regarded if they played on a bum team?'

Do we give as much of a fuck about a ringless Timmy? Probably not. He's considered boring by many, and he was never one for gaudy stats. In the business of basketball, what would make him stand-out?

Nothing, really.

Shaq on a bum team?

Hey, when you can snatch down backboards, chances are people will want to watch you.

With gritted teeth, I have to pick Shaq...

...even thought I think he underachieved.

Shaq

Tim's career has been only flawed by his lack of personality and playing in San Antonio

So Shaq is the one who will be remembered.

"I got hurt on company time, so I’ll heal on company time."

Who said that?

Michael Jordan? No.
Tim Duncan? No.
Magic? No.
Kobe? No.
Shaq?

Shaq......to me Tim Duncan along with KG are centers who had to play PF because they weren't tough enough to play Center.
I agree w/ this statement 100% about duncan but not KG, because KG was much slimmer..

But I do remember KG scared to play PF when he was younger.. he was a SF..:lol::lol:

Always hated the fact Shaq didn't dominate the boards more, made him seem lazy to me. I'm going with Duncan mainly because of free throws and that bank shot that was always money. And if they switched teams I think Lakers win 5,6 in a row and Shaq only 2 at the most in San Antonio

Duncan's bball IQ and chemistry, offensive and defensive reliability, winning throughout his entire career on the same team contending for a championship... Duncan has the better NBA career IMO

But there was a good 3-4 years where no one was even touching Shaq... dude was way too dominant.

But Shaq didn't have the sustainability that Duncan had/has... When Shaq was in the game, the offense had to adjust to him...

Duncan is steady... I'm going with Duncan

Is Shaq's dominance from 2000-2006 (7 years) greater than Duncan's consistency from 1997 to the present (16 years)?

damn some great arguments for both. And some off topic offcolor ideas, wtf  lol

I voted Shaq, the fact he was able to be shipped around the NBA and still help contribute to turning organizations around/winning C'hips is incredible. Not many all-time greats can make that same claim. They had to stay w/one organization and wait til the formula was right or everything was in place, every piece of the puzzle, but Shaq did it in various places.

Great question tho, cuz Duncan is far from a bum. It's really hard to compare him (& his career stats) tho when his career isn't really finished or appearing to be over.
