Best Female Vocalist of All-Time

Hasve you listen to Rachelle's music? And the thread said best of all time not who makes you feel shiot when they sing.

And mariah Carey does not have a range even close to Rachelle's. She strains to get high and can't even come close to going as low as Rachelle. You might of had an aurgument if you said Chante Moore. She has a much better voice than Mariah.

In no pasticular order:

Angela Winbush
Cheryl Lynn
Chaka Kahn
Whitney Houston
Mariah Carey
Patti Labelle
Heather Headley
Meli'sa Morgan

More to be added later!!!!!!:yes::yes:

Gladys Knight did it for me.
Phyliss Hyman
Anita Baker
Chaka Khan
Mary J. Blige
Rachelle Ferrelle
Stephanie Mills
Angela Winbush

It seems to me that the more talented singers do the worst sale wise Mary J. Blige the Queen of HipHop-Soul is a peoples favorite who mastered watering down her vocals and using strong production. IMHO

Teena Marie's not mentioned?

Casanova Brown
If I were a bell
Deja Vu (I've been here before)
Portuguese Love
Fire and Desire
Out on a Limb
It must be Magic

She could roll up and place high in R&B, Jazz and Funk... But that is just my opinion.

I was coming back to edit and add her...

For my money:

Chaka laps the field

Cheryl Lynn (you wanna hear a vocalist, peep "Star Love")
Dianne Reeves
Angie Bofill

end of story

Billie, Ella, Sarah, Dinah, Mahailia, Dionne, Cissy, Aretha, Patti, Gladys,Mavis, Whitney, Rachelle, Cassandra. No order, no time frame, no genre, no last names needed. The greatest is the one that moves your soul at the particular moment. There are many others that most folks have never heard of that can put a choke in yo throat, a tear in your eye and make the little hairs on the back of your neck stand up. No GREATEST They're all just GREAT!

Thanks to everybody who posted the clips.

Ummm, no Angela Bofill?? No Melba Moore??

suspect

Was just mentioning that Melba is underrated the other day. Although she is not the greatest, Cheryl Lynn is also a great singer that I haven't seen mentioned yet. As far as soul singing goes and what i'm familiar with I have to go with Aretha.

My pick has to be Gospel singer Karen Clark-Sheard

You've lost your mind.

(Carey inherited her operatic voice from her mother. Like her or not, no one of sound mind over the last 20 years has ever denied her unusual range. It's her claim to fame, besides her arguable #1 all-time status, female success-wise. I've never seen or heard Chante Moore's "range" mentioned once ... anywhere.)

Never seen or heard Chante Moore's Range? she has a CRAZY range..you can hear a touch of it on her Remake of "FREE" By Denise Williams.
