Imo the two best black actors from this side of the pond. It's a damn shame that these two aren't headlining any mainstream hollywood movies along with will and denzel, yet you have these generic cac hacks like channing tatum and mark whalberg all over hollywood. :smh:

Chiwetel Ejiofor is a cold beast. I see him as the next Denzel.

Sidenote: Wahlburg is all over Hollywood because of his name. Nothing more.

Can't choose between both as they are both good.

Another up and coming one is David Oyelowo

Love them both. But, Chewy is a serious actor and very polished. Idris is also very good, But I doubt he can convincingly pull of as many roles as Mr. Ejiofor can.:angry:

no love for lennie james, who i consider better than both of the above?

Nope!

1) Chiwetel Ejiofor
2) Lennie James
3) Idris Elba

I could easily put Idris over James simply because we've seen more variety from him.

Dirty Pretty Things puts Chiwetel over Idris by a slim margin to me.

I support whatever both of them are in though

^this

but Idris on The Wire and his comedic turn on the US version of the Office?

We should just be glad we have them:D

better question is why so many of there FAR LESS TALENTED white counterparts get bigger roles, more opportunities and higher salaries?

STOP IT!!!

Dude won't be in the running for an Oscar, but he makes good, solid, watchable movies that make $$$!

(of course, I'm excusing that M. Night Shyamalan mess "The Happening"):smh:

"Four Brothers"
Budget - $45 million
Worldwide Gross - $92 million

"Shooter"
Budget - $61 million
Worldwide Gross - $96 million

"Contraband"
Budget - $25 million
Worldwide Gross - $96 million

"The Italian Job"
Budget - $60 million
Worldwide Gross - $176 million

"The Fighter"
Budget - $25 million
Worldwide Gross - $129 million

"Planet of the Apes"
Budget - $100 million
Worldwide Gross - $362 million

"Ted"
Budget - $50 million
Worldwide Gross - $549 million

There are PLENTY more, but you get the point, he's also had a hand as producer in most of his latest movies, and let's not forget this one is coming out in 2 weeks!

Idris is a very good actor but have you guys heard the movies where hes tried to pull off accents and act at the same time?? Ghost Rider, Prometheus, Thor, Takers, etc... Debacle. :smh:

Chiwetel>>>

i agree, u gotta add lenny james to the mix..

but, even then, i cant choose. becaues they are all diffrent in their own reguards. and all good actors

Chiwetel>>>

ya he's taken some lousy roles lately too...plus I'm go on the record and say he was "ok" on the wire...I think ppl were more into the image of what stringer bell represented more so than what idris brought to the table...I think he did much better acting in luther than he did on the wire...no memorable scenes (acting wise) from the wire come to mind when I think of his performance...wood harris had some moments tho as avon

we know why

which is why we need to fund the people we want to see. make our movies and support them.

both of these dudes are a-list talent.

but they don't get a-list money or recognition.

shit there's like 5 more black actors in this boat too

Chiwetel was great in Serenity. Tough choice here between him and Elba. I'd go with Elba simply because I've seen more of his flicks and thus a wider range of characters he's played. I don't doubt Chiwetel's range, however.
