Beagles trade up to the #2 pick

Not true. Howie has done a great job of filling holes. Sure, we have a few holes, but what team doesn't? But I agree that this may bite us in the ass. Up until this latest move, Howie has made smart moves, but I'm confused by this one.

Ok I'll disagree with the holes but still... This doesn't make any sense. So say they keep Bradford and he wins out.. What do you do then? You have to start the rookie next year because you invested all that money into him and then you hope to trade Bradford and get more picks... But then let's say Bradford tanks or struggles.. Well then you have to start the rookie because you gave so much up for him. You don't give up that much for a non day one starter.

But then next year... The rookie leads a team that will be missing high draft picks. I understand doing this in the Winston/ Mariota draft but neither of these guys has impressed me. This is a head scratcher.

I guess they trade him and get back a few of the picks they gave away

That's the best case scenario... But will he have much trade value since a team knows that you will have to cut Bradford next year. I take it back I don't think he gets traded. I think he will get outright released....

Damn so I just saw this on sport trac...
In 2017 Bradford has a cap hit of 23.5 million dollars with a guaranteed 4 million. If they cut him... That's 9.5 million against their cap in dead money. If they trade him... They would incur a 5.5 million dollar cap hit, but who will trade for him knowing that there is no fucking way that you are keeping a guy on your roster that counts 22 million against your cap that will be a free agent in 2018. They can't even sweeten a trade with draft picks.

Sam Bradford Reportedly Not Happy With Eagles Trading Up In Draft For QB

Sources tell ESPN’s Adam Schefter that Eagles QB Sam Bradford is not happy with the news that Philadelphia has traded up to No. 2 overall and plans to take a quarterback.

He’s hot,” one source tells Schefter. “Who wouldn’t be? This is Philly saying, ‘We don’t see (you) as long-term answer.’ He’s mad and wants to show everyone who’s best.’’

Fair enough.

While Bradford may not be happy about the situation, Eagles GM Howie Roseman confirmed that Bradford will be their starting quarterback this season and added that they have no plans to make him available for trade, even though they will be taking a quarterback at No. 2 overall.

Many were wondering if the Eagles could make Bradford available for trade, seeing as the Broncos and Jets are both in the market for starting quarterbacks. However, there are obvious obstacles to trading Bradford at this point.

Joel Corry points out that trading Bradford before June 2 would leave them with an $11 million 2016 salary cap charge because of his signing bonus. If they wanted until after June 1, these figures would improve to $5.5 million (2016) and $5.5 million (2017) in the dead money.

Albert Breer adds that the second year of Bradford’s contract looks smart now, as it puts the Eagles in position to trade him after the 2016 season if their young quarterback is ready to take over.

Bradford, 28, signed a two-year, $36 million contract that included $26 million guaranteed with the Eagles over a month ago. He stands to make base salaries of $7 million and $13 million over the next two years.

According to OverTheCap.com, trading would free up just $1.5 million in available cap space while creating a staggering $11 million in dead money.

In 2015, Bradford appeared in 14 games for the Eagles and threw for 3,725 yards while completing 65 percent of his passes to go along with 19 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.
