Be Safe New York

Damn, these photos and video clips are devastating and unbelievable. This is when you hope the photos have been Photoshopped. To my dismay, I believe that they are all ligament.

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

I saw that coming

 I saw that earlier and thought dude was gonna change it to 'legitimate'...guess not

:eek:,, :itsawrap: for the power in that area

Right, it's dark from 39th street all the way down to the water, save for the places along the way with generators, NYU Medical Center is over on the East Side near the water but in a blacked out area, I'm wondering if their generators failed because water came in?

all this from a category 1, I hope NYC never deals with a category 2 and up, :itover

I thought it was downgraded from a Cat 1.

Amazing.

I was in Fla. when Hurricane Frances and Ivan came back to back, but there are no close building giving the winds tunnel velocity like in NYC.

Luckily, the rains are not as strong and consistent as they are in tropical areas.

I guess no annual Halloween party in NYC.

Firefighters battling 4-alarm fire in Breezy Point

PEARL RIVER, N.Y. — Firefighters are battling a four-alarm fire in the Breezy Point section of the Rockaway peninsula in Queens.

Fire officials say the fire was reported at about 11 p.m. Monday and involves about 15 houses situated in a flooded Zone A area.

A fire department spokesman says 170 firefighters are currently at the scene. He says two people have suffered minor injuries.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.

What's crazy is the amount of rent people were paying to live or rent a shop there and now it can't be worth as much due to damages.

We'll see what damages daylight shows.

DAMN! Shit is crazy right now in NYC and NJ, but I'm good. Be safe if you live in NYC and NJ.

The difference with this one though was that it came in from the East, that has NEVER HAPPENED before since they've been tracking hurricanes, they have ALWAYS come up from the South, this tied with being on the outer edge & the full moon gave us the absolute worst case scenario.

This is actually a once in a lifetime storm.

UPDATE - This scaled upto a 6 alarm fire around 4am
:smh: Now anywhere from 2 dozen to 50 Homes burned down according to the FDNY. I been on my scanner most of the early morning and they got :smh:

ALSO Here in East Flatbush:
Trees down and trees split everywhere
Some Blocks got power some dont. A block to the right of me no power, but a block to the left is good.
Nigz aint gettin on no bus or train anywhere (obviously). The whole system is flooded out.
Some primary secondary wires down also.

They were saying on the news also that it was once in a lifetime because of the snow storm also that came with it. The storm is over 1500 miles wide.

My moms and family are always clowning that I left NY to move to Texas and how so many hurricanes and tornadoes down here. I told them before Sandy, what's up now, them shits are going anywhere these days.

But I can't reach them by phone now, but I know what they going thru with no power... I survived Hurricane Ike.

How swiftly Obama sends in aid or support is going to be real crucial to add more to his landslide next week.

Best wishes to the fam in NewJersey too

Truth right there so you could imagine my surprise when Governor "I Support Romney" Christie not only said that he spoke with Obama several times before the storm hit, he actually PRAISED him for being proactive and putting resources in place before the storm hit.

Actually praised him a couple of times.

But understand that right now this is what the Brooklyn Battery tunnel looks like, there is over 11' of water FROM END TO END, Obama has already sent the Army Corps of Engineers to work on this problem & the 7 MTA East River tunnels that flooded, as well as the Holland & Queens Midtown tunnels.

Yeah but fuck the tunnels, if their reason for getting to that damage is for emergency crews to get across safely then great, but if it's only to get their means of raping NY'rs of money back up then whatever.

They need to get aid to those people who are on respirators, elderly, sick and what not. But I know how NY'ers are, in times of distress like this, they pull together like a mofo...

That may only be for a little while. Cell towers need power, once the power is out, they have backup batteries that only last a lil while like 8-12 hours, then it's a wrap. But if some areas still have power then all should be well.

When I was in a hurricane, no power for 3 days, kept cell charged with my car charger, but no towers had any power.

That's what's still going on thru the evacuation of NYU Medical Center, the East River Con Ed plant was breached last night, there's video on the board of the subsequent explosions that happened there, that handled ALL OF THE POWER for lower Manhattan, 39th street all the way down to Battery Park is dark, NYU was on that grid, but the FDR Drive was breached along several stretches including 34th street (which flooded the Midtown tunnel) and down in the teens, flooding NYU's basement where their emergency generators were.

Over 200 patients had to be evacuated, they're still doing search & rescue now for people who didn't heed warnings to leave.

Watching Christie now, dude is talking rail cars are strewn across the New Jersey Turnpike near exit 12 due to the storm surge, as well as houses that were lifted off their foundations and left in the middle of Route 35, and several of the rides from an amusement park are now out in the ocean.

He just said they have to do a flyover of the Barrier Islands because there's no place to land.

Exactly. Cats be talking shit about those storms but if a cat 1 did this to NYC guess what a cat 2 on the same path would do.

Yeah I was out of power for 2 weeks during Isabel.

always be overprepared !!!!!!

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Man this pictures are jaw dropping

For real. A lot saying oh the storm was nothing. It's the aftermath of the storm that is the problem. The wind's passed and the rain, now deal flooding and the aftermath.

In NY I wonder how Flatbush Ave holding up, notorious for looting in the past.
