I was in Fla. when Hurricane Frances and Ivan came back to back, but there are no close building giving the winds tunnel velocity like in NYC.

Luckily, the rains are not as strong and consistent as they are in tropical areas.

I guess no annual Halloween party in NYC.

PEARL RIVER, N.Y. — Firefighters are battling a four-alarm fire in the Breezy Point section of the Rockaway peninsula in Queens.

Fire officials say the fire was reported at about 11 p.m. Monday and involves about 15 houses situated in a flooded Zone A area.

A fire department spokesman says 170 firefighters are currently at the scene. He says two people have suffered minor injuries.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.

What's crazy is the amount of rent people were paying to live or rent a shop there and now it can't be worth as much due to damages.

The difference with this one though was that it came in from the East, that has NEVER HAPPENED before since they've been tracking hurricanes, they have ALWAYS come up from the South, this tied with being on the outer edge & the full moon gave us the absolute worst case scenario.

This is actually a once in a lifetime storm.

That may only be for a little while. Cell towers need power, once the power is out, they have backup batteries that only last a lil while like 8-12 hours, then it's a wrap. But if some areas still have power then all should be well.

When I was in a hurricane, no power for 3 days, kept cell charged with my car charger, but no towers had any power.

That's what's still going on thru the evacuation of NYU Medical Center, the East River Con Ed plant was breached last night, there's video on the board of the subsequent explosions that happened there, that handled ALL OF THE POWER for lower Manhattan, 39th street all the way down to Battery Park is dark, NYU was on that grid, but the FDR Drive was breached along several stretches including 34th street (which flooded the Midtown tunnel) and down in the teens, flooding NYU's basement where their emergency generators were.

Over 200 patients had to be evacuated, they're still doing search & rescue now for people who didn't heed warnings to leave.

Watching Christie now, dude is talking rail cars are strewn across the New Jersey Turnpike near exit 12 due to the storm surge, as well as houses that were lifted off their foundations and left in the middle of Route 35, and several of the rides from an amusement park are now out in the ocean.

He just said they have to do a flyover of the Barrier Islands because there's no place to land.

For real. A lot saying oh the storm was nothing. It's the aftermath of the storm that is the problem. The wind's passed and the rain, now deal flooding and the aftermath.
