Tom Holland has struggled with keeping the secrets of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is why “Avengers” directors Anthony and Joe Russo decided the only way to protect “Endgame” spoilers was to not give Peter Parker himself the script for the movie before or during production. During the “Avengers: Endgame” Indian Anthem event on April 1, Joe Russo confirmed Holland was denied the screenplay because he just can’t be trusted.

“Yeah, Tom Holland does not get the script,” Joe Russo said. “Tom Holland gets his lines and that’s it. He doesn’t even know who he’s acting opposite of. We’ll just, we use like very vague terms to describe to him what is happening in the scene, because he has a very difficult time keeping his mouth shut.”

Holland teased as much at ACE Comic Con Phoenix last year when he told fans that during the filming of fight scenes he had no idea who exactly his character was going up against. Holland said, “The Russo Brothers are like ‘so you’re just standing here, and you’re fighting this guy and just do whatever,’ and I’m like, ‘Okay, who am I fighting?’ And they were like, ‘Well, we can’t tell you because it’s a secret.’ I’m like, ‘Okay so what does he look like?’ And they’re like ‘well, we can’t tell you because that would give it away’…I’m just standing there punching the air for 15 minutes and when I took the job I didn’t think that’s what I’d be doing. I’ve gotten used to it now.”

The Holland-doesn’t-get-a-script protocol was enacted because of moments like when the actor indirectly spoiled the ending to “Avengers: Infinity War” while introducing a special screening of the film last year. Holland says he was notified the audience had already seen the movie, so when he walked on stage he shouted, “Don’t worry, I’m still alive!” The line referenced Spider-Man’s death during the climax of “Infinity War.”

Other examples of Holland spoiling the MCU is when he alluded to the Quantum Realm playing a significant role in “Endgame,” which had been a popular fan theory following the release of “Ant-Man and the Wasp” but had not been talked about by Marvel executives or the “Endgame” directors and screenwriters. A montage video of Benedict Cumberbatch preventing Holland from revealing spoilers during their “Infinity War” press tour went viral in April 2019. Cumberbatch’s efforts to protect the spoilers were later praised by the Russo brothers.

@fonzerrillii

You know...

Jokes aside?

This is COULD be a damning indictment on acting...

So basically the job is so damn easy? You just tell the actor to stand and speak.

Or he so GOOD?

He doesn't need more then the most basic details to deliver a performance

Question that might be a spoiler

Is Thanos using the Bifrost???

The effect does seem to look like either the Bifrost or a beam from a ship. I have a feeling he doesn't have the space stone anymore when we see that scene.

I’m sitting here as a new fan of marvel, amazed and hyped for this movie. My question to y’all have there every been a situation like this where a movie was sooooo anticipated.

Im a huge fan of the mad titan and ebony maw as many of y’all know....
I’m new to this so a connection to the avengers haven’t had to to materialize, I like Dr. Strange and Wong, Iron Man personality is kook(a rich white guy with prick like attitude, brings great humor to the scenes).

We waited 16 years from Return of the Jedi to Phantom Menace. There has never been a more anticipated movie in history...and it sucked.

Really has not been nothing like this. A lot of movies promised sequels and some left easter eggs but nothing like this. Thanos has been coming since 2012. That shit is amazing.

Since Captain America:The First Avenger. When the Red Skull disappeared towards the end we knew he wasn't dead.
A lot of people were disappointed at the end of that movie. They didn't get what happened.
They were expecting a brutal fight. They didn't realize it was a set up.
I was waiting for Captain America to move into the present. That was how the movie truly ended.

I've said before I am convinced endgame will win Oscar for best pic not just for its awesomeness but the full breadth of what the MCU has accomplished (similar to what they did for peter jacksons lord of the rings trilogy.)

People are too short sighted. And also too easily entertained. They don't like to think.

I said the same thing as you the first time I saw The First Avenger. It is one of the most under rated MCU movies IMO.

The reason I asked is the effect looks a lot more like the Bifrost effect (Thor appearing in Wakanda) than the whirlpool effect from the space stone (Thanos appearing in Wakanda).

He doesn't have the space stone anymore and has to beam down from his ship himself to NY.

I go on mondays after all the crowds.

Bruh...Monday will be crowded too
This isn't a regular movie fam
As we get closer to the end of the month, this shit is gonna be sold out for days & days & days.

I'm surprised dudes on here didn't buy tickets for multiple viewings, cause y'all know you'll want to watch it more than once, opening weekend.

Kids at school, people at work, I did infinity wars like that.

The only movie event within the the next four years that will be just as big as Endgame will be the sequel to Black Panther.

I guarantee you. This shit is historic...we may never see anything like that again movie wise.

We are witnessing fucking history...... No film will ever shut down the theaters like this.... in Cleveland we got theaters that are doing shows as early as 7:30 am, and as late as 3:45 am...... damn near 24 hours running.

I had a cat tell me that the other day. It makes sense. 3 hour long movie, gotta get as many start times as possible in.
