Ava DuVernay to Direct DC’s Superhero Epic ‘New Gods’

DC needs a plan for their films. Their EU feels disjointed at best like they're throwing movies out to see what sticks. If they wanted to do BvS it should have been Brainiac NOT Darkseid as the big bad with no Doomsday. That way they could have explained Lex knowing Bruce was Batman and Clark was Superman with out him having out-Batmaned Batman. Wonder Woman should have had Cheetah not Ares. They could have had Ares provide the formula to the scientist and still brought back a new Cheetah in the upcoming movie. Justice league should have been Lex or Max Lord with a post Brainiac tie-in/wrap-up leading to the more recent projects like Shazam and New Gods to lead to Darkseid. Just my two cents...
See, this is the shit that pisses me off about DC.
Why didn't you introduce the New Gods first? Shit's about as dumb as not using the pre-made TV universe.
If it would have failed, you could take that loss, because you just introduced 1) Darkseid, 2) Steppenwolf, 3) the Motherboxes, 4) Mr. Miracle & Big Barda. With that ONE movie, you just created your DC Universe to compete with Marvel.
Plus it gave the DCU a backstory for EVERYTHING, instead of an (admittedly awesome) 4 minute scene that could have been better used building backstories for Flash, Aquaman & Cyborg. With that one movie, you could have shown how MULTIVERSAL the plague of Darkseid was. The VERY reason to have a JUSTICE LEAGUE instead of faux god Superman handling it.
And I'm still pissed they had a budget to show a bootleg Abin Sur but couldn't include the closest thing next to the Trinity when it comes to the Justice League (Green Lantern, if you're lost). I would have even taken G'nort at this point....

The universal love of the JLU series got him most of that acclaim. Funny thing is, he wasn't anything like the JLU version until they reset the DCU in the comics.
When they restarted the DCU (again), they decided to restart all the stories too. Hal was the first GL in every continuity, so he got the nod.
But on the low, I think the McDuffie family suing behind the Milestone Universe made DCU cut off all ties with everything he had his finger in.
More like Sex In The City with Harley, Poison Ivy & Catwoman. They were not anything like the Suicide Squad. Just a bunch of (criminal) girlfriends living life, love & comic book drama.

DC's biggest problems is that they keep going for the big gun villains.
They don't know how to build a story, or even a mythos.
Every single villain in the DCU should have been background players & then later popped up as big bads:
Examples:
Wonder Woman: While Ares does like to get in the mix, he usually plays the back & manipulates other characters, usually by enhancing them (he is a god). I hope & pray that they use the old school Cheetah. Don't get me wrong, I want the current Cheetah, but DC has already shown me they can't get the backstories right. Part of Cheetah's advantage is that backstory.
Man of Steel: They were close, having the entire Zod crew plot & plan to convert Earth to a Krypton, but then the directors just threw the entire plan in the garbage & reverted to fight scenes & a death in the third act. Shock value, basically.
Batman Vs. Superman: Why, why, why would you bring out Doomsday when Doomsday was Superman's end? Lex is way smarter than that & he wouldn't throw the whole kitchen at Supes. He would weaken him, get Parasite or Metallo to soften him up, get one of them to throw a building on Superman, then edit the video to make it look like Superman was careless. Then when Supes comes to beat his ass, he buys the land & makes it a gravesite for those lost, all on his dime. Lex plays the long game. Making Doomsday was not the Lex anyone knows. And if these idiots were smart, they could have built the universe up with all the minor TV & movie characters & had Doomsday be the Infinity Gauntlet of the DCU.
Green Lantern: Man just got his ring & you already throwing Parallax at him? Why not have Parallax slowly infect the ring over time, until the big reveal. Have someone like Mongul show up & beat his ass down (being yellow) & when GL figures it out, out comes Parallax to take over the world.

They would have to "admit they were wrong" in order to let Snyder continue making his sequels. And after everything that has happened, I doubt their egos would admit they were wrong.

Snyder was the Executive producer and help write the story for WW1...
