there is no plan - less imagination
this studio can't make a decent or even an entertaining film using the 2 largest comic brands in the world...

for the last 5 years they can't find a director for the Flash to move production forward

they throw a bag at The Rock to sign on as Black Adam years ago -
but in a knee jerk reaction last summer after Spiderman Homecoming's success
they greenlight and rush production on Shazam - w/o Rock?

did they move forward with Flash? nah -still in development hell, right next to Booster Gold...
Who is pushing Booster? the same guy responsible for Green Lantern

and now... after years of failure they give an obscure part of DC -that includes a major villain- to a non fan, with no experience with action, who it seems wants to build it around Big Barda... also remember this is the same studio that cast an anorexic model to play wonder woman... - Amy Schumer is about to get a bag.

I'll be surprised if this gets out of development.... if it does its being set up to failure or at best a unique fluke
because there is no plan, just shit stuck on the wall

i hate when you do that fam...

I got NO response

and those pics?

quiet is kept I LOVED Captain Marvel coming up...

something looks "off"

DC PLEASE don't screw this up.

I have NO IDEA who The Rock should play in the Marvel Universe but at this point he could choose anything he wanted

I'd I would be good.

Wait a minute

Kraven, Skar, Wonderman

You know I actually think Booster Gold would be a GREAT character...

If done RIGHT

but more for the TV.

Booster Gold can only work as a movie if Legion of Superheroes & Justice League characters are established and works best if characters in Metropolis / Gotham / Central etc cities are already established

Haven't seen it yet, but from what I heard about Wrinkle in Time, here and elsewhere, it was a snoozefest. Off that alone, I'm so glad she passed in Black Panther.

Not sure if she can handle a big budget superhero flick, but if she is going to do one, let it be in DCs cinematic universe where the gamble could either pay off if successful or, go unnoticed if it fails.

In her defense Wrinkle in Time is considered to not translate well into film. Ava Duvernay is a great filmmaker. She shouldn't be judged for that film alone.

OK we already KNOW WB/DC aint that bright.

But I think New Gods is their attempt to do a Guardians of the Galaxy.

So is Ava the one to do that?

Of top?

No.

But from what I have HEARD about Wrinkle and the stuff of hers I HAVE seen

I could see it, I got faith

in HER

nor the execs

As much as I love Kirby and the DC stuff

lets be real it wasn't exactly the best written material in comics.

So she can FLIP it anyway she wants.

the KEY here is...will they LET her flip it?

The outside issue is ONLY from Kirby die hards...

(salute to his 100th birthday but I think they group is a select few)

She could REALLY make New Gods anything she wants within reason

sidebar: the new Mister Miracle series is OUTSTANDING.

EVERYTHING yo said is correct...

but I think I have switched over to the new concept...

DC/WB should just make stand alone films till they can get their collective sh*t together.

They are unwilling or unable or BOTH to make one large connected universe, period.

So just do solo films.

OF COURSE their needs to be a REAL man of steel 2 with Brainic...its a no brainer

but are they CAPABLE?

Jon Stewart: Green Lantern should be already FILMING at this point!

If I was WB/DC I would have the TV Superman and Supergirl appear even if its just PHOTOS on Krypton. Just as a middle finger to Marvel.

Again I'm sure Ava will be fine...its DC/WB I don't trust.
What's y'all fascination with John Stewart? Not being negative but I keep hearing y'all mention him just curious to why y'all think he will have a successful film with D.C.

Real long time comic fans could make a legitimate argument that Stewart is the most recognizable Black super hero

more than Luke Cage Blade Falcon War Machine and Black Panther

maybe ONLY Storm rivals him.

maybe

never under estimate the huge impact of DC animation

particularly Justice League.

And its is such a NATURAL progression.

you can make it have some deep social message...

or

just make it a fun action packed special effects filled summer blockbuster...

EASY

He could have EASILY been THEIR "Black Panther"

with even more cross over appeal.

He has a HUGE following.

Got you......but you think he'd have the same impact or more than BP? Because I don't even think its BP with the impact. I think its the culture and what Wakanda represented. Does John have that?

Im thinking theyll probably have Rock appear as Black Adam..in a after-credits scene

And there also still no progress on The Batman-we dont really know if Affleck still onboard or not..

Suicide Squad 2 supposed to start shooting in October(if you believe what Will saying),and it looks like Gotham City Sirens and the Harley Quinn & Deadshot solo movies are dead in the water

Its in DC's best interest to focus on those properties. With Suicide Squad........you better make sure you come equipped with a real villain this go around.

What was Gotham City Sirens?

I don't think its fair to compare ANYTHING to Black Panther...that was a CULTURE SHIFT.

A PERFECT STORM

The writers the directors the cast the promotion the budget Disney Marvel....

and do NOT under estimate how long time comic book fans feel/felt about Black Panther

That don't happen every month.

However we got LOVE for John Stewart.

TRUST.

And the Green Lantern Corp got a cult following too.

if this was a Marvel property?

and this movie would be a cross between Star Wars Star Trek Guardians of the Galaxy Highlander westerns and Seven Samurai.

The Hughes Brothers could do this.

Does he have that? No. Not really. :smh:

However, John Stewart is probably 'the most respected' black superhero in the whole DC Comics landscape.

He's the Leader of the animated version of the Justice League.
And a Former US Marine Sniper.

He's the opposite of Hal Jordan... In both the comics & the movies, Hal Jordan can be a clown, at times... while John Stewart is considered the 'serious guy'. Someone you don't wanna fuck around with. :smh: He's more Batman. Less Deadpool. When it comes to levity & having a gameplan.

Whereas, Hal Jordan is at the other end of the spectrum. He flies by the seat of his pants. Quite Often.

John-Stewart-Punch-Hal-Jordan.jpg

If done properly, a John Stewart movie should be like Star Wars:Rogue One.

Rogue One was pretty much a 'war movie'... that takes place in outer space.
It was a Star Wars movie that was geared more toward Adults ... and it made $1 Billion dollars.

There were NO young Kids, nor any Ewoks, no Jar Jar Binks type chracters, or any type of alien creature (or cute robot) that was added to the movie because some Studio Exec thought it would make a nice Xmas toy, or small 'action figure' that gets stuffed into Happy Meals. :smh:

Bottom line, WB/DC could make a more gritty & mature movie with John Stewart... and the hardcore DC comic fans wouldn't complain. At all.

Don't over do it. :smh: Don't over think it. :smh: Don't try to be 'too funny', or 'too light-hearted'... or 'too dark'.
And don't make a movie that puts 'selling toys & happy meals to kids'... AHEAD... of making a solid movie.

John Stewart is former Marine.... So they should make a movie that emphasizes/showcases that aspect.

i.e. More Bourne Identity / 007 / Mission Impossible type stuff... in outer space.
Less Anakin Skywalker / Rocket Racoon / or talking animals type stuff. :hmm:

5979856-1766332337-green.jpg

Just have a solid story. A great cast. A tough objective. A formidable bad guy. And give Stewart a solid gameplan to get the job done. Add some warfare & some (green lantern) Special Efx... then stand back.

And count the box-office receipts.

Would John Stewart do as well as Black Panther? :dunno: Probably not. It depends. :dunno: (On the Cast & Director)

But honestly, he wouldn't need to do Black Panther numbers... in order to satisfy moviegoers... and get DC out of their rut.... while making a nice profit for WB, at the same time.

Going into the movie... the expectations are not the same. :smh:

Picture Antoine Fuqua or F Gary Gray Directing it.
With Idris Elba, David Ramsey, or Mahershali Ali starring as John Stewart.

a9uuer.jpg

That could make quite a decent amount of money, imo.

Y'all putting me on game. I'm not the comic fan y'all are so I didn't know he had that type of impact. I remember hearing a long time ago Common was scheduled to be him in Justice League......wonder what happened with that. Not necessarily Common but to that character.

I think Mahershali Ali would kill that.

If he is so popular, why hasn’t he shown up in any animated films?

That's also good question. I've always heard of Luke Cage, T'Challa, Blade.....to he's bigger than those guys is surprising to me and that he has more of a following than those guys is surprising to me. Not saying its not true but that's news to me.

If he is so popular, why hasn’t he shown up in any animated films?

you realize he was the most popular character in the Justice League like over 75 episodes right?

and in the comics?

since McDuffie died most of those specific characters haven't really been touched in the movies, and aint nobody mad at that.

in fact he was SUPPOSED to have an animated series on HBO.

and trust after BPO?

They WILL now.

wait the simple answer?

you also realize you trying to make sense of WB/DC business decisions right?

Didn’t know that. I only watch the animated flicks. Which justice league cartoon? The only I see is only 52 episodes

touched on what I came to say. A very big portion of the love for John Stewart came from McDuffie's portrayal of him on the Justice League/Justice League Unlimited animated series. These were arguably the best super hero themed animated series ever and it was a brother, Dwayne McDuffie (word to DM) at the helm. To the question of whether or not he carries the cultural impact of BP/Wakanda.....the answer is fuck no. BUT....he was a significant leap forward in the portrayal of black super heroes. For one....he didn't have the "Black" disclaimer on his name and was respected as a leader, strategist, tactician, all around badass and man....and that was standing next to the heavy hitters. I would LOVE to see a John Stewart Green Lantern movie that truly honored Dwayne Mcduffie's vision...I just don't trust DC/WB to do it. We would end up with a Robert Townsend "Meteor Man" jawn and they'd be legit scratching their heads as to why black audiences didnt respond to it the way they did BP. Until WB/DC can prove that they can walk and chew gum at the same time, I would prefer they not touch any of the characters I hold in high esteem.

Female version of Suicide Squad w/ Harley,Poison Ivy,Catwoman,Joker's Daughter and Black Canary..maybe Joss Whedon shouldve directed this and put Batgirl in it

Somewhere along the line Joss lost his feminist card...

It just got revoked without cause.
