Its a new century and once again Black people have to be the trailblazers. Once again we are called upon to take the next step to advance the society in this grand social experiment called AMERICA.
And yet again Black people have the privilege of walking through hell with gasoline underwear on while other ethnic groups watch and take notes.
Much like we did with Civil Rights and Affirmative Action we have to kick the door open and be the first one to take the bullets when we go in so that others may enjoy the full rights of American citizenry.
To all other ethnic groups please understand that the minefield we're negotiating right now is one that you will have to walk one day soon...although most of the white flags will be planted by then...you're welcome.
The year 2008 is a benchmark year for people of color and white women. This is the year that two candidates from Democratic Party are vying for the job of Leader Of The Free World..and it only took a little over 200 years..faster than we thought.
For the first time, a white woman and a black man actually have a realistic shot at the throne. That is if they can stop cutting each other's throats long enough to come to some kind of agreement as to who should be the first FIRST. But let's leave the details of how this situation gets resolved to historians and let's observe the:
DO'S AND DO NOT DO'S OF RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT IF YOU ARE NOT A WHITE MALE.
DO have an impressive educational background (Harvard, Yale are the best..if the best you have is DeVry forget about it).
DO have a background in public service (just not anything threatening as political/social activism...jesse, al and ralph all have that in common and are all losers for it.)
DON'T decide to run before you've served at least one full term in any elected office (or people will call you inexperienced but interestingly enough being the SPOUSE of an elected official for a number of years qualifies as personal experience)
DO decide to run for President only after the last person in office fucked up REAL BAD..this helps immensely.
DON'T just depend on the "I'm voting AGAINST.." supporter..they will turn on you as well..ask John Kerry.
DO give supporters and potential supports something to look forward too. Whether its change, hope, brighter days, longer weekends, handjobs every Tuesday.. give them something they can hang THEIR hopes on.
DO have a VERY ethnic sounding name. After Barack HUSSEIN Obama...you can't possibly do any worse. Unless your name is Fidel Che Noriega or Kim Jong Tojo or Running Bear Kill Many Pale Face..even then with a pretty smile and winning attitude you may STILL go pretty far...
DO control your inner circle. Be prepared to slap the shit out of anyone in your camp who talks out of pocket. And this WILL happen.
DO run a background check on ALL of the people in your camp. Guilt by association will happen and if you have an aide who knows someone who met someone who saw Osama bin Laden one time 15years ago..that's enough to link you to him.
DO'S AND DON'TS FOR THE ETHNIC GROUP ASSOCIATED WITH THE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE
DON'T support your candidate in overwhelming numbers..it will be seen as racist because you're just voting for him because he's (fill in the ethnicity) and that's perceived as racist not supportive.
DON'T not support your candidate in too little numbers..it will be seen as stupid because this guy has a legit shot and you (ethnic slur here) are too stupid to realize it.
see the trick here is to support in just the right amount so as not to cause concern among the white folk. If that's at all possible.
DON'T let the most extreme and craziest among you anywhere near the candidate...no good can come of it.
DO bone up on what your candidate has done or any accomplishments he or she may have made. Even tho no one really ever asks what accomplishments white candidates made. Supporters of your candidate WILL be required to recite his/her resume in full when requested.
