Around what year did niggas start getting line ups?

TV in general is not a good measure for Black hairstyles until probably some time in the 2000’s. You gotta remember those were probably CAC stylists on set who couldn’t fade if their life depended on that shit. Especially with kids. I remember always seeing Black kids on TV shows with fucked up fros and thinking why do the kids on TV always have fucked up fros?
you ain't lying. White people can't cut black hair worth shit. I live in a majority White City and rather than let those bitches fuck up my hair or drive 35 minutes out of my way to Cleveland or Akron OH, I just cut my hair bald. Fuck it

Edge ups got sharp around my way when I went to the Dominican dudes in the late 80s and he would line me up with the straight razor.

I didn't want the young Eddie Winslow look.

well I hope your year is full of shit and misery :smh: sorry I couldn’t enhance your quality of life by discussing the fucking advent of line-ups

you asking a question cause you saw a tv show with a nig with a fucked up cut like he represented the streets... If you saw a prince video would you ask when did nigs stop wearing ass out pants and high heels? Tv pretty much has never been a real representation of black america...there are far and few things on the idiot box that share the same thing in real life

TOO MANY OPTIONS NOW!!

We had all those options in Philly in the 90's too, except probably 7 and 9. No one was rocking that

It’s funny you mentioned the back of the neck. Lol.
We would laugh at any bama who had a square or round neck back in the 90’s. Lol. You had to have that joint faded out or else the jonin would persist. This was a DC/PG County thing. Lol. Good times.

Nah, my dark ceaser had to be rounded.
Man a fresh lineup was so important growing up that you could get away with not getting a cut for a minute as long as your line up was crisp.

When I lived in Philly I used to go to a barbershop on Baltimore Ave. (around 46th/47th/48th St. - can't remember exactly).
Italian Tony & Philippine Felix gave the freshest cuts; holdovers from when the neighborhood was white I guess.
Just walk in, sit down and they BOTH knew what to do!

Move back to CT after college and I couldn't find a barber for a while, so....
I drove to Philly every 2 weeks for my cuts for a few months (also trying to save a relationship & taking homies to the after-hours lock-door stripper joint).:money:

Born in the 70's. I don't remember not ever getting lined up. Detroit dudes always kept clean cuts.

Forever. My grandfather was a barber and they prided themselves on their skill with a straight razor.....lol....edge ups ain't nothing new.

I was born in '64. As long as I can remember my barber was nice with it on the straight razor. We had school boy cuts that could be brushed....waves. And he ALWAYS finished it off with a straight razor...even put the part in my head with a straight razor.

Fact is, ain't nothing new on God's green earth.

Those white barbers went to the SuperCuts school of hair...had no idea what the hell to do with black peoples hair. They didn't even know how to fade!!! I don't think it got better until rappers started showing up on TV.

Rappers used to have they neighborhood barber travel with them to keep that line fresh.

Word up...been plenty of times as a teen I let the hair wolf out, throw a skully on & walk my ass over to the barbershop with my $5 & get a good line.
