Arizona is shaming ‘deadbeat’ dads on social media

The problem isn't support itself, because yeah, a guy, or a woman should do their share of financially supporting their kids...but the problem is the possibilities of men paying for children that aren't theirs, and in many cases, being forced to continue paying after paternity tests have proven that it's not his kid

Those cases are extremely rare, are only legally enforceable because the Father signed the birth certificate (which is like signing a life-time contract) or took in the child in the first years of life (defacto common law parent), and each case the Father was deceived he is legally allowed to pursue a civil judgement against the Mother making the child support payment essentially a wash.

I would normally concur, but in this case the citizens are being compelled to pay for the irresponsible behavior of other adults.
This sets in place a climate of Moral Hazard and Adverse Risk for the public's funds.

Being poor doesn't mean you have to be deadbeat. Child support is structured around a income and scaled according to joint incomes with a minimum baseline for standard of care.
If one doesn't think they make enough to support a child, then have have no business procreating to begin with. You cannot cry about it being unfair after the fact.

yes tax payers are stuck with the bill, but with all the issues with have going on the usage of tax dollars being used on single moms should be the least of our concerns. When ever y'all talk about cutting taxes the first people to get fuckd over are the poor. If you owe child support they are going to take it out of your paycheck anyway, so if someone isn't paying it probably because they don't have any money or unemployed.

Father: Warren Buffet / Mother: LaQuanda Jackson

It's sad but true. You say LaQuanda Jackson, but it's the Jane Smiths that would fuck shit up. If these cacs get to just putting any names on birth certificates and get away with it, shit would come crashing down.

That's why they require DNA testing these days to confirm, and cats better get hip that it's cheaper to deal with a lawyer than it is to deal with not getting one.

I'm cracking up at dudes in this thread acting like chicks are scheming on their $200 a month.

Some of y'all need to stop thinking you're getting treated like an athlete.

If their wages are being garnished then they're not deadbeats.
Any order for child support comes with a paternity test. We have long past the era where a woman walks into court, names a Father, and the courts drop the hammer on him out of nowhere.

Not true. I got a child support letter from the county when my ex went on assistance. The county dropped it the moment she went back to work. We've made our own arrangement since. No mention of any paternity test whatsoever. I would have had to fight for that.

California also has a law where a child support order only has to be mailed to the father's last known address. If you don't respond within two years it's yours. That means if you break up with your girl and move out if her house all she has to do is send the order to herself. You don't reply your SOL.

think of what that means for guys serving in the military overseas. There's soldiers who have lost cases even when it was physically impossible for them to be the father.

In law, you have the right to appeal any court action, especially one for which you did not receive "good service." Good service simply means you were not presented the summons or were physical incapable of appearing or responding to the request.

Military members currently on deployment often receive special dispensations under law.

Meanwhile, if you're fighting this case in Arizona and have somehow found a way to stop the state from snatching part of your income you're labeled as a deadbeat and publicly shamed on Twitter.

If you launch a good service case you still have to fork out money for a lawyer, lose money from not working, and have your check garnished until the matter is resolved.

You can win the case and the judge could order the mom to pay everything back, but good luck trying to find someone to enforce this.

Military members get fucked on this all the time. There was a special caller on the Tom Leykis show talking specifically about how badly he got screwed over a baby that was born a whole year after he was deployed to Iraq. Partially because the JAG won't represent soldiers in child support cases.

No one ever said the legal system is perfect. This is why I want to see tort reform and for America to transition to the British legal structure where the LOSER of the case pays all legal costs and attorneys fees.
It would drastically cut down on the number of frivolous and meritless lawsuits being filed each day and stop the arbitrary and captious rulings.

It's very simple actually. You take the judgment to any court and file for garnishment of HER wages. If she's not working, then you have it converted to a debt and a code will be attach to her credit report.

Maybe in the in past, but many laws have been enacted to protect military members from certain legal actions until they return from deployment.
For instance, a friend works in banking and knows he cannot foreclose or even harass a member of any household of a house that is behind in their mortgage if the mortgager is military member who is actively deployed no matter how delinquent they are.
