Are we killing ourselves: Food & products to look out for.......

Not really... its more like premature death is down... there have always been people living to 80, 90 and so on, but so many people died very young (infant mortality, disease), and that skews the results... another way that stats lie

Ya'll better listen to this man... that eat all the time BS is a major contributor to the poor health condition of those in the west... fast metabolism is good? think about that for a second... wouldnt you want your body to be able to do more with less food? The Okinawan people, who live the longest, have a saying that you should only eat until you are 80% full, they eat and they average about 1500 calories/day I believe. American doctors would call that starving yourself . Remember, western "experts" were telling us just a few yrs ago "fat is bad! dont eat any fat!", now those same mofos wanna kick the shit out of you if you dont eat enough fat. Doctors dont know very much about food/nutrtion... they get something like 3hrs of schooling on it in Medical school, most of it probably bullshit.

Do some research on calorie restriction, intermittent fasting, and alternate day fasting and how they relate to good health and long life. the more you eat, the more oxidation occurs in the body leading to free radicals, which then require you to consume anti-oxidants. Free radicals= cancer and cellular/DNA damage. if you eat less (of the right foods, which cant be stressed enough)and fast, you put your cells under stress, much like exercise, which results your body being resistant to disease and aging. ill bet gene looks younger than he is.

I had a thread about eating one meal a day http://www.bgol.us/board/showthread.php?t=216504 and gene has some good thoughts in there too. I've been eating one meal a day since about Feb, and Ive never felt better in my life... I was already in pretty good shape, but I leaned out without a loss in strength, my mind is clear, no skin blemishes at all, blood pressure is lower, I need less sleep and have more energy. And friends who havent seen me recently all comment on how I look younger than I used to.

I fast a few times a month... 2 days here, 3 days there and I recommend it. Another benefit to eating less: you save money and the money you do spend on food, you can buy the best foods for you. I eat almost 100% organic these days... fuck that canned and boxed shit. Trader Joe's and Whole foods all day:yes:. Fasting may be difficult at first, but if you can make it to day 3 or so, its smooth sailing and you will not feel hungry. Are you going to continue to listen to western doctors/experts who dont live any longer than you do? Or will you investigate/research/be open to "alternative" teaching and wisdom? Try it... if you dont feel better, you can always go back to your McDeath and Crapa-Cola

Good info Akh and well said. I read that the head of the American Heart Association died of heart attack.:hmm::smh:

Not only will it be "smooth sailing" if you make it to day three but you will obtain a state of euphoria that will make you not want to come off your fast. It's a wonderful high that will motivate you to never deliberately poison your system again.

However, let me say this to those who have never fasted and are avid consumers of doritos, french fries, mcdonals and other non-foods your first fast will not be easy. Expect to not feel all that well as your body tries to eliminate all the basura from your system. Some will feel so bad that you will think that you are harming yourself and want to end the fast by the 2nd day...DON'T....deal with it and forge ahead...the rewards to your health are more then worth the discomfort and you need to convince yourself that you can do it and that the discomfort you feel is a result of you having poisoned yourself not because you are fasting to rid your body of those poisons. If your one to be alarmed by not feeling well you can lessen the discomfort by starting slowly - maybe one day a week then gradually increasing the length of your fasts. Another good fast to go on is a NO sugar No salt fast (which should be part of any good fast anyway). But for those just starting this could be a good place to start. You will be horrified to learn how much salt and sugar is in EVERYTHING you eat and that these are two of the most dangerous substances in our diets.

It will be hard to go back to poisoning your system again once you've completed a few good fasts just like it is hard to stop going to the gym once you've gotten into the habit of going and felt and seen the benefits. Once you've sufficiently cleaned out your system your fasts will become pleasant and you will enjoy the euphoric high that I describe above.

Be Healthy Yall

Been using natural crystal as a deodorant for years. One will last months. Just a note that the odor that comes out of your body is a factor of what is put into it. Clean the inside of your body and be conscious of what you put into it and you will find that you can go without deodorant altogether.

about 5-10 years ago my aunt was using this and said its good, but you are right about the B.O., cause she also said you have to clean your insides and watch what you put into your body so that odor doesnt come out.
----------
about the floride - I always wonder why people in africa and third world countries always have pearly white teeth ( and they dont use our american brand toothpaste or any toothpaste at all )
--------------
High Fructose Corn Syrup - is one of the hardest things to avoid, but just from cutting sodas out of your daily diet can help one loose alot of pounds - I look at soda as liquid death in a can or bottle, cause there is absolutely nothing in the can that is good for you, eveyrihng in soda is terrible for you body. I avoid it like t.i avoids guns nowadays.
------------
stay away from anything enriched or bleached white ( bread, rice etc ).

drink plenty of water, and eat plenty of green leafy veggies, also watch the intake of corn and corn based products...

Fam, I apologize. I waited to long to come into this thread. kayanation, I want to thank you for startin' this thread. Health and wealth, to me, are the only major problems in our community. You fix those two, everything else falls into place. What good is your wealth without your health.

Now, I am disclaimering that I have NO links for this initial info but just think on these things. FDA. Think about it FDA. Why in the hell is not a FOOD ADMINISTRATION and a DRUG ADMINISTRATION? Why are they under the same umbrella? Why are corporate representatives on the board of this organization? What about doctors and scientists?

Now, think on this. When you read the labels of anything packaged, what's in it. Exactly, drugs. Preservatives, additives and colorants that were directed towards our generation to become dependent on sugar. I mean, I had NO idea that HFCS was in bread. I just knew I was avoiding it, LOL. Why is it in ketchup? I have eaten natural ketchup...can't taste the f*ckin difference.

Bottom line is this, and I am echoing what the fam has already said, if it comes in a package it just probably isn't for you. Fruits, vegetables, whole grains fish and fowl. I do a little beef but I'm just being ideal.

If you control your sugars, NOT your fats, you live a quality life. Google these five sweeteners: erythritol, stevia, agave nectar, luo han guo. I know two have been stated but just gettin' the point across.

True story. We grew in the 'burbs and had a garden in the yard. Mom always cooked fresh, weaned us off of pork bacon (mind you my granddad was a pork farmer...it can be done) onto turkey bacon and I did not eat my first frozen dinner until I got out in the "A" on my own as a grown. Instrumental, I tell you. We at little fast food, baked our desserts at home and RARELY ate out of any box.

We got the kids on too much bullsh!t. Can't blame them...advertising is a muthaf*cka, dads are missing and women today do not/can not cook. This is the first generation under us where the life expectancy is REVERSING. I will give you guys the game in this link. Use it: http://www.totalhealthbreakthroughs.com/

I must admit this is one of the most important threads for us and brotha's on here still actin ignorant. Obseity amongst black people has risen at an alarming rate and I see it on a daily basis at the school I coach at. One of my players just started the 9th grade and can't make it through a damn practice cuase he is overweight and has high blood pressure at the age of 14! The parents of these kids do not understand that they are slowly killing them with no remorse. Change your eating habits and exercise!

http://www.truthinlabeling.org/hiddensources.html

Autolyzed, hydrolyzed, glutamate, glutamic acid, hydrolyzed, autolyzed
HIDDEN SOURCES
OF PROCESSED FREE GLUTAMIC ACID (MSG)
NAMES OF INGREDIENTS THAT CONTAIN ENOUGH MSG
TO SERVE AS COMMON MSG-REACTION TRIGGERS

The MSG-reaction is a reaction to free glutamic acid that occurs in food as a consequence of manufacture. MSG-sensitive people do not react to protein (which contains bound glutamic acid) or any of the minute amounts of free glutamic acid that might be found in unadulterated, unfermented, food.

These ALWAYS contain MSG
Glutamate Glutamic acid Gelatin
Monosodium glutamate Calcium caseinate Textured protein
Monopotassium glutamate Sodium caseinate Yeast nutrient
Yeast extract Yeast food Autolyzed yeast
Hydrolyzed protein
(any protein that is hydrolyzed) Hydrolyzed corn gluten Natrium glutamate (natrium is Latin/German for sodium)

These OFTEN contain MSG or create MSG during processing
Carrageenan Maltodextrin Malt extract
Natural pork flavoring Citric acid Malt flavoring
Bouillon and Broth Natural chicken flavoring Soy protein isolate
Natural beef flavoring Ultra-pasteurized Soy sauce
Stock Barley malt Soy sauce extract
Whey protein concentrate Pectin Soy protein
Whey protein Protease Soy protein concentrate
Whey protein isolate Protease enzymes Anything protein fortified
Flavors(s) & Flavoring(s) Anything enzyme modified Anything fermented
Natural flavor(s)
& flavoring(s) Enzymes anything Seasonings
(the word "seasonings")
In ADDITION...

The not so new game is to label hydrolyzed proteins as pea protein, whey protein, corn protein, etc. If a pea, for example, were whole, it would be identified as a pea. Calling an ingredient pea protein indicates that the pea has been hydrolyzed, at least in part, and that processed free glutamic acid (MSG) is present. Relatively new to the list are wheat protein and soy protein.
Disodium guanylate and disodium inosinate are expensive food additives that work synergistically with inexpensive MSG. Their use suggests that the product has MSG in it. They would probably not be used as food additives if there were no MSG present.

MSG reactions have been reported to soaps, shampoos, hair conditioners, and cosmetics, where MSG is hidden in ingredients that include the words "hydrolyzed," "amino acids," and "protein."

Low fat and no fat milk products often include milk solids that contain MSG. Low fat and no fat versions of ice cream and cheese may not be as obvious as yogurt, milk, cream, cream cheese, cottage cheese, etc., but they are not an exception.

Protein powders contain glutamic acid, which, invariably, would be precessed free glutamic acid (MSG). Glutamic acid is not always named on labels of protein powders.

Drinks, candy, and chewing gum are potential sources of hidden MSG and of aspartame and neotame. Aspartic acid, found in neotame and aspartame (NutraSweet), ordinarily causes MSG type reactions in MSG sensitive people. Aspartame is found in some medications, including children's medications. Neotame is relatively new and we have not yet seen it used widely. Check with your pharmacist.

Binders and fillers for medications, nutrients, and supplements, both prescription and non-prescription, enteral feeding materials, and some fluids administered intravenously in hospitals, may contain MSG.

According to the manufacturer, Varivax–Merck chicken pox vaccine (Varicella Virus Live), contains L-monosodium glutamate and hydrolyzed gelatin both of which contain processed free glutamic acid (MSG) which causes brain lesions in young laboratory animals, and causes endocrine disturbances like OBESITY and REPRODUCTIVE disorders later in life. It would appear that most, if not all, live virus vaccines contain MSG.

Reactions to MSG are dose related, i.e., some people react to even very small amounts. MSG-induced reactions may occur immediately after ingestion or after as much as 48 hours.

Note: There are additional ingredients that appear to cause MSG reactions in ACUTELY sensitive people. A list is available by request.

Remember: By FDA definition, all MSG is "naturally occurring." "Natural" doesn't mean "safe." "Natural" only means that the ingredient started out in nature.

MSG is sometimes hidden in food with labels that say "No Added MSG,"
"No MSG Added," and "No MSG"

We found these a while back at Trader Joe's in Chicago:

Imagine ORGANIC Free Range Chicken Broth
Ingredients include "natural flavor" -- and Imagine doesn't tell what is in the "natural flavor" and/or provide an analysis of the amount of processed free glutamic acid in their product.

Kitchen Basics Natural Chicken Stock
Ingredients include "chicken stock," "natural flavor," and "vegetable stocks" -- and Kitchen Basics doesn't tell what is in the "chicken stock," "natural flavor," and "vegetable stock," and/or provide an analysis of the amount of processed free glutamic acid in their product.
Manufacturers are acutely aware that many consumers would prefer not to have MSG (1) in their food.(2) Some manufacturers have responded by using "clean labels," i.e., labels that contain only ingredient names they think consumers will not recognize as containing MSG -- names such as "hydrolyzed soy protein." Others advertise "No MSG," "No MSG Added," or "No Added MSG," even though their products contain MSG.

Most offenders are small processors who are possibly being misguided by the FDA, the USDA, and/or consultants. Hain and Campbell's, both large companies, are among those who have been alerted to both the deception that they are perpetrating and the illegality of what they are doing, yet continue with what the FDA has termed deceptive and misleading labeling.

Placing "No MSG," "No MSG Added," or "No Added MSG" on food labels has been deemed by the FDA to be false and misleading under section (403)(a)(1) of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act when the label also lists any hydrolyzed protein as an ingredient since it contains MSG."(3) Thus, to advertise "No MSG," "No MSG Added," or "No Added MSG" when there is MSG in a product is illegal.

At one time, the FDA responded to the illegal use of the term "No MSG Added," with both a Regulatory Letter and threat of seizure and injunction in case of non-compliance.(4) At one time, State Attorneys General sued manufacturers that made such claims, and won consent decrees from them, and sometimes imposed fines.(5-6) But when the FDA began to look the other way, and the State Attorneys General turned their attention to other matters, the deceptive and misleading use of "No MSG" and No Added MSG" once more began proliferating.l

Following the FDA's announcement in 1995 that "...FDA considers foods whose labels say "No MSG" or "No Added MSG" to be misleading if the food contains ingredients that are sources of free glutamates, such as hydrolyzed protein,"(7) the incidence of such misleading and deceptive labels regulated by the FDA began to decline. At the same time, similar labels regulated by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) continued proliferating. At the USDA they don't simply fail to enforce the regulation. The USDA actually approves labels of meat and poultry products that claim "No MSG," "No MSG Added," or "No Added MSG" when they contain free glutamic acid.

Clearly, it is false and misleading to claim "No MSG" or "No MSG Added" on a product label when MSG is present, even if it is present as a constituent of an ingredient.

Those making such claims should be able to demonstrate, through valid tests for free glutamic acid content, that there is zero free glutamic acid in their products.

Even if one could assume that a particular label reflected the ingredients actually in the product (which one cannot), review of product labels to determine the presence of MSG would not be satisfactory, and will not substitute for analysis of end product. The number of products/ingredients /substances that contain MSG is not finite, i.e., new ingredients that contain MSG are invented and/or renamed every day. To keep track of them would be virtually impossible. Moreover, MSG can be freed from protein during processing or manufacture given appropriate conditions. For example, any ingredient that contains a bit of protein can be hydrolyzed if hydrochloric acid, enzymes, heat, and/or other substances or conditions that cause glutamic acid to be separated out of its host protein are present. Hydrolyzation of protein inevitably creates some (processed) free glutamic acid (MSG).

Only if there is zero free glutamic acid in an end product can one legitimately claim that there is no MSG. The burden of proof for a claim about the absence of MSG must lie with those making the claim.

If you write or call to ask whether or not there is MSG in a product...

If you want to find out if there is processed free glutamic acid (MSG) in a product, you must ask the manufacturer for information about "free glutamic acid."
Don't ask about "MSG." Manufacturers find it convenient, when speaking to consumers, to tell them that there is no "MSG" in their product, meaning that there is no ingredient called "monosodium glutamate." Even if a manufacturer tells you there is no MSG in a product, there may be autolyzed yeast, hydrolyzed pea protein, carrageenan, sodium caseinate, enzymes, and a whole slew of other ingredients that contain or create processed free glutamic acid (MSG) during manufacture.

If you are told that all of the MSG in a product is "naturally occurring," thank the manufacturer for that meaningless information, but explain that all processed free glutamic acid (MSG) is referred to as "natural" by the FDA -- so "natural" tells you nothing. In fact, as the word "natural" is defined by the FDA, the food ingredient "monosodium glutamate" is "natural."

It is the amount of processed free glutamic acid in the product that will determine whether or not you might suffer an MSG reaction. If the manufacturer claims not to know whether or not there is processed free glutamic acid (MSG) in his or her product, ask that the product be analyzed for free amino acids, including free glutamic acid. There are tests for measuring free glutamic acid. The AOAC Official Methods of Analysis (1984) gives one method. There are others. The cost of testing should be no more than $100.

We have been advised by the FDA that if any such misbranded products are brought to their attention, they will act to correct the situation. To report misbranded products to the FDA, please call the FDA at 888-723-3366 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., eastern time - and keep a record of your call.

I use that crystal Deodorant but my armpits still sweat like a waterfall. I have no odor but I sweat like a pig. A colleague of mine is a dermatologist and I was thinking of getting botox injections under my arms which he suggested. But you have to keep repeating and im' not sure about Botoxing the glands in my underarms. Is there anything natural that works for the armpits? I'm running out of options here.

Life expectancy has risen dramatically, and people continue with this nonsense about things killing us. You should be pretty happy that you live in this time and place. If this was the 1800's you would be taking mercury for many ailments.

I just did a googled "deorderant with aluminum" and this is the result. http://www.fitsugar.com/78866.

In the past, I only used deodorants that were aluminum-free, because I heard, like many of you probably have, that the aluminum and other chemicals can seep into your skin and cause breast cancer - that clogging your pores prevents toxins from escaping, so they stay in your body.

This is not true.

The FDA has squashed this myth, quoting the National Cancer Institute (NCI), saying that "no existing scientific or medical evidence links the use of underarm antiperspirants or deodorants to the subsequent development of breast cancer."

The American Cancer Society (ACS) agrees. They say that sweat glands are not connected to the lymph nodes. Most cancer-causing substances are removed by your kidneys, and released through urine by the liver, and also when you poop. The lymph nodes don't release toxins through sweating.

Well there you have it. Antiperspirants do not cause breast cancer. Go ahead and buy any deodorant or antiperspirant your little heart desires.

Some cat said something about not eating food form cans. Why? People have been doing this from years and all of a sudden it causes cancer. I stay away from foods from cans because of the high sodium not because of that other shit. Hell, I just heard about products in plastic bottles are toxic if frozen. If that is true, can you imagine how many bottles of coke, water we have half way frozen just to get a chilled drink? What about meet that we freeze in zip lock bags? Not to mention 80% of beef, pork poultry are pumped with steroids. Oh, and let’s not forget about our so called "fresh fruit" that are chemically enhanced. Well, yes I tried organic foods however; most of the fruit and vegetables use "enriched" soil. Enriched soil is mostly manure from livestock which have been pumped with steroids. Let’s not forget about the deodorants, soaps, toothbrushes, cleaning supplies, and so on. Yes, they have chemicals that can harm us but most of the alternatives are no better. Meaning 90% of the "alternatives” are not FDA approved meaning they are not tested in a lab. These "alternative" products may have some "alternative" chemicals that are not posted/labeled on the product. I'm not saying I trust the FDA 100%. because, if a corporation dishes several millions to the right person....:smh: My point is this, unless you make, build, grow, and raise your own shit, sit back and enjoy the ride because you are living in a world that cash is king and they don't give a fuck about what you think of what is wrong or right. Fuck you pay me!!!

try googling "deodorant" next time, maybe the correct stuff will show up..........

The shit has been proven to contribute to kidney disease.

Read the warning on the label to the back of the deodorant also.

I don't know if this has been mentioned already, but Concord Grape Juice is good to drink as well..

Aloe Vera is also good; but you have to get used to the taste, because it's bitter..

It works great since I also go to the gym and smell nothing.

It could be found in Whole Foods or Vitamin Shoppe.

The scent is very very mild, almost scentless but yet it is still effective.

Last 2-3 months also, the stick is actually harder than the other aluminium based deodorants.

It also comes in different fragrances......

Let us get some feedback when you return............

Alkalizing the body fluids (raising pH) is one of the single most important health regeneration benefits available as disease causing microforms (fungi, bacteria, virus etc.) cannot survive in an alkaline oxygenated environment.

Essentia water-9.5PH:yes:
there are some different brands and alternatives
out there but this is what i drink....not 100% of the time
but most def i try to keep some around to keep my PH levels in check.

Dangerous Ingredients In Beauty

Aluminum - Metallic element used in antiperspirants and antiseptics. Certain scientists have established links between aluminum and breast cancer. Its use in antiperspirants blocks the pores of the skin preventing toxins from being excreted. The toxins then go to the closest fat reserve: the breasts. Some suspicions have been equally raised about its implication in Alzheimer.

Animal Fat - Animal tissues made of an oily and semi-oily solid that are the insoluble esters of glycerin and fatty acids. Generally one of the principal ingredients in bar soaps, animal fat is notorious for being highly contaminated with pesticides and for removing the protective lipid layer of the skin.

Cocamide (DEA, DEA-CETYL phosphates, DEA OLETH-3 phosphates, Myristamide DEA, Stearamide MEA, Cocamide MEA, Lauramide MEA, Oleamide DEA, TEA-Lauryl Sulfate) - These chemicals ingredients are used as emulsifiers and foaming bases in the majority of body care products. In spite of the fact the the FDA (The American Food and Drug Administration) has warned the industry of their potential danger since 1979. Furthermore, in 1998 a study by the NTP (American National Toxicology Program) seriously condemned their use and designated them nitrates and nitrosamins, cancer causing elements.

Coal Tar Color (sold under the names colors FD & C or colors D & C) - A sticky material with a complex composition, resulting from the distillation of coal and used to give texture and color to certain shampoos and also to reduce itching. Can contain a variety of toxins (benzene, xylene, naphthalene), recognized for causing allergic reactions, asthma attacks, headaches, nausea, fatigue, nervousness, lack of concentration and cancer.

Collagen - Derived from animal skins and chicken feet, the collagen molecules are too large to penetrate the skin. They rest on the surface and prevent the skin from breathing comfortably.

Imidazolidinyl urea and DM hydantoine (Germall Plus, Germall II and Germal 115) - Two preservatives that have the loosening effect of formaldehyde. Renowned for causing eczema. After parabens, these are the most used preservatives. They are well established as a main cause of contact dermatitis (the American Academy of Dermatology). There are three commercial names for these chemical products: Germall II, Germal 115 and Germall Plus. None of them has a good antimycotic action and it must be combined with other preservatives. Germall 115 releases formaldehyde at a little more than 10°C. These chemical products are toxic.

DEET - Plastic solvent used as an insect repellent. Very irritating to the skin. Cases of death related to DEET usage have been compiled by the American Federal Environment Agency. In December 2004 Health Canada will remove from store shelves any products containing more than 30% of DEET.

Isopropyl Alcohol - Solvent distorting properties, found in hair dyes, massage oils, hand creams after shave creams, perfumes and many other cosmetic products of large brands. Inhaling or ingesting the vapor could cause headaches, intoxication, sickness, narcosis or coma.

Parabens (methyl, propyl-, butyl- and ethyl) - Used to inhibit microbial growth and to prolong the shelf life of products. Widely used, even though commonly known to be toxic. Cause many allergic reactions and cutaneous eruptions. Extremely toxic.

Mineral oil - Derivative of petroleum, used industrially as a cutting fluid and lubricating oil. It forms an oily layer on the skin and traps moisture under the skin thus preventing the skin from breathing. At the same time, it stops toxins and wastes from escaping.

Petrolatum and Paraffin Gel (petroleum jelly) - Mineral oil in a gel form; causes many problems for photosensitive skin (that is to say it augments damage from the sun). It also tends to interfere with the body's natural moisturizing mechanism leading to dry skin. Any product sold that contains this chemical creates the very conditions that it claims to relieve. Many manufacturers use petrolatum because it is incredibly cheap. Highly comedogenic.

Propylene Glycol - Derived from petroleum oil and found in automatic brakes and industrial defrosters. The Material Data Safety Sheet (MSDS: charter for use of the products) of propylene glycol warns against contact with the skin. Nevertheless, rare are the cosmetics that do not use it as a moisturizer. The effects of propylene glycol on human health are numerous and alarming. It could cause dermatitis, ototoxicity, kidney damage and liver problems, according to various clinical studies.

PVP / VA Copolymere - Derivative of petroleum used in shampoos and conditioners. It is considered toxic because its particles contributes to the penetration of other foreign bodies in the lungs of sensitive people.

SODIUM LAURYL SULPHATE (SLS) SODIUM LAURETH SULPHATE (SLES) - Detergent used as a moisturizer in floor cleaning products, found in engines and in Agent Orange (which served to kill vegetation and profoundly harmed human and animal life during and long after the Vietnam War.) SLS and SLES are used in laboratories as skin irritants in order to test soothing products. However, their low coast makes them present in the majority of shampoos and cosmetic foaming products. Several studies have underlined the harmful effects of their use: urinary infections, kidney and bladder infections, fertility problems, irritation to the eyes, skin and scalp, allergic reactions, lesions of the scalp and hair loss. Certain studies have asserted that SLS and SLES are carcinogenic.

Stearalkonium Chloride - A chemical used in conditioners, to detangle hair and in skin creams. It cause allergic reactions. The chloride of Stearalkonium was developed by the textile industry as a softening agent. It is much cheaper and easier to include in hair conditioners than plant proteins or extracts, which are healthier for the hair. Very toxic.

Synthetic Perfumes - The term "perfume" on the label of a conventional product is very misleading: behind this simple word hide 200 chemical products that are unabashedly unlisted. Some problems cause by these chemical products are: headaches, dizziness, hyper-pigmentation, violent cough, vomiting and skin irritation.

Talc - A white-gray mineral powder used especially as a baby powder and in deodorant products. Long term use can produce the same effects as those of asbestos. Besides the consequences of the respiratory system, talc can also affect the reproductive system.

Triethanolamine (TEA) - Often used in cosmetics to adjust pH. TEA cause allergic reactions, including eye problems, dry hair and skin, and can be toxic if absorbed into the body over a long period of time.

Potentially Dangerous Chemicals
Some of the Potentially harmful ingredients commonly used by the personal care industry.

Alcohol
A colourless, volatile, flammable liquid produced by the fermentation of yeast and carbohydrates. Alcohol is used frequently as a solvent and is also found in beverages and medicine. As an ingredient in ingestible products, alcohol may cause body tissues to be more vulnerable to carcinogens. Mouthwashes with an alcohol content of 25% or more have been implicated in mouth, tongue and throat cancers.

Alpha Hydroxy Acid
An organic acid produced by anaerobic respiration. Skin care products containing AHA exfoliate not only damage skin cells, but the skin's protective barrier as well. Long term skin damage may result from its use.

Aluminium
A metallic element used extensively in the manufacture of aircraft components, prosthetic devises and as an ingredient in antiperspirants, antacids and antiseptics. Aluminium has been linked to Alzheimer's disease.

Animal Fat (Tallow)
A type of animal tissue made up of oily solids or semisolids that are water-insoluble esters of glycerol with fatty acids. Animal fats and lye are the chief ingredients in a bar of soap; a cleaning and emulsifying product that may act as a breeding ground for bacteria.

Bentonite
A porous clay that expands to many times its dry volume as it absorbs water. Bentonite, commonly found in many cosmetic foundations, may clog pores and suffocate the skin.

Butane
Aerosol propellant. Flammable and in high doses may be narcotic or cause asphyxiation.

Collagen
An insoluble fibrous protein that is too large to penetrate the skin. The collagen found in most skin care products is derived from animal skins and ground up chicken feet. This ingredient forms a layer of film that may suffocate the skin.

DEA, MEA, TEA.
Cause allergic reactions, irritate the eyes and dry the hair and skin. Can be carcinogenic, especially to kidney and liver.

Dioxins
A potentially carcinogenic by-product that results from the process used to bleach paper at paper mills. Dioxin treated containers sometimes transfer dioxins to the product itself.

Elastin of High -molecular weight
A protein similar to collagen that is the main component of elastic fibres. Elastin is also derived from animal sources. Its effect on the skin is similar to collagen.

Fluorocarbons
A colourless, non-flammable gas or liquid that can produce mild upper respiratory tract irritation. Fluorocarbons are commonly used as a propellant in hairsprays.

Formaldehyde
A toxic, colourless gas that is an irritant and a carcinogen. When combined with water, formaldehyde is used as a disinfectant, fixative or preservative. Formaldehyde is found in many cosmetic products and conventional nail care systems.

Fragrance
Usually petroleum-based. Can cause headaches, dizziness, rashes, respiratory problems, vomiting, skin irritation and multiple chemical sensitivity.

Glycerin
A syrupy liquid that is chemically produced by combining water and fat. Glycerin is used as a solvent and plasticiser. Unless the humidity of air is over 65%, glycerin draws moisture from the lower layers of the skin and holds it on the surface, which dries the skin from the inside out.

Imidazolidinyl urea and DMDM hydantoin
These formaldehyde-forming preservatives can cause joint pain, allergies, depression, headaches, chest pain, chronic fatigue, dizziness, insomnia and asthma. Can also weaken the immune system and can even cause cancer. Found in skin, body and hair products, antiperspirants and nail polish.
Kaolin
A fine white clay used in making porcelain. Like bentonite, kaolin smothers and weakens the skin.

Lanolin
A fatty substance extracted from wool, which is frequently found in cosmetics and lotions. Lanolin is a common skin sensitiser that can cause allergic reactions, such as skin rashes.

Lye
A highly concentrated watery solution of sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide. Lye is combined with animal fats to make bars of soap, which may corrode and dry out the skin.

Methyl, propyl, butyl, and ethyl paraben
Are used to extend a product's shelf life and inhibit microbial growth. Highly toxic. Can cause rashes and other allergic reactions.

Mineral Oil
A derivative of crude oil (petroleum) that is used industrially as a cutting fluid and lubricating oil. Mineral oil forms an oily film over the skin to lock in moisture, toxins and wastes, but hinders normal skin respiration by keeping oxygen out.

Padimate-O
Also known as octyl dimethyl, PABA is found mostly in sunscreens. Like DEA, a nitrosamine-forming agent. Theres concern that the energy absorbed by this sunscreen is then turned into free radicals, which may actually increase the risk of skin cancer.

Petrolatum
A petroleum based grease that is used industrially as a grease component. Petrolatum exhibits many of the same potentially harmful properties as mineral oil.

Propane
Aerosol propellant. Is flammable and in high doses may be narcotic.

Propylene Glycol
A cosmetic form of mineral oil found in automatic brake and hydraulic fluid and industrial antifreeze. In skin and hair products, propylene glycol works as a humecent, which is a substance that retains the moisture content of skin or cosmetic products by preventing the escape of moisture or water. Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) warn users to avoid skin contact with propylene glycol as this strong skin irritant can cause liver abnormalities and kidney damage.

PVP/VA copolymer
A petroleum-based ingredient used in hairsprays.

Salt
Very drying, irritating and corrosive.

Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS)
Harsh detergents and wetting agents used in garage floor cleaners, engine degreasers and auto cleaning products. SLS is well-known in the scientific community as a common skin irritant. It is rapidly absorbed and retained in the eyes, brain, heart and liver, which may result in harmful long-term effects. SLS could retard healing, cause cataracts in adults, and prevent children's eyes from developing properly.

Sodium Laureth Sulphate (SLES)
SLES is the alcohol form (ethoxylated) of SLS. It is slightly less irritating than SLS, but may cause more drying. Both SLS and SLES may cause potentially carcinogenic formations of nitrates and dioxins to form in shampoos and cleansers by reacting with other ingredients. Large amounts of nitrates may enter the blood system from just one shampooing.

Synthetic colours:
Coal-tar dyes are generally labelled as FD&C or D&C followed by a number. Carcinogenic.

Talc
A soft grey-green mineral used in some personal hygiene and cosmetic products. Inhaling talc may be harmful as this substance is recognised as a potential carcinogen.

When I was coming up @ age 16 we (my homiess and I) were reading every damn label, when we bought from the Bodega or any store. We were real anal about Pork Products being in our food. We would check each others labels and smack food outta niggas hands that wasn't up to par..lol no lie.
Till this day I read labels like lil cease on his vid.

I'm running out of options here.

just wear a tshirt, not a wife but one with short sleeves. i am a sweater also and i wear one every day whether hot or cold or rain or shine
