They ought to be interesting to watch. Yet, I've seen other "dream staffs" fail to deliver once the bullets start flying. It will be fun to see how they respond to the pressure of center stage and all of the over-the-top expectations.

Halladay - Nothing more need be said.

Lee - See above.

Hamels - If healthy, he should be even better now with the lighter load of being #3 in the rotation.

Oswalt - Can go either way. Devastating when he's right. The major question mark of the staff in my opinion.

Blanton - Solid #5. Might wind up being trade bait for an extra bat to replace Werth.

The Brewers and White Sox are much too low on the list. The additions of Greinke to the Brewers staff, and Adam Dunn to the White Sox lineup make them much more formidable, and barring injuries, they should both be division winners. On the other hand, with the retirement of Pettite and their shaky starting rotation in New York, the loss of Wainwright for the year in St. Louis, plus the uncertain health of Morneau, Mauer, and Liriano in Minnesota, the Yankees, Cardinals and Twins should be lower. Thoughts anyone?

This can't be real!! A baseball fan on BGOL!!!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

So do you lean more towards Queens or the Bronx? Having grown up in Chicago (and being a lifelong White Sox fanatic), this two-team loyalty is a bit unheard of to me. On the Mets side of the world, at least you've got a real major-league GM now. Do you think life will be better without Jerry Manual and Omar?

Honestly, I don't lean either way even tho I'm Bronx born. But I will say if they both met in the World Series, as of now, I'd go Mets (like I did in 2000) because I haven't gotten to truly experience the Mets win it all.

And are they better now? Eh, that remains to be seen tho I'm glad Omar is gone and that Terry Collins bring some personality to the clubhouse because I think the players are too laid back and no player has really taken a leadership role. I'm hoping to make strides in getting better but we still need to work on the rotation especially with Santana out, but I want to see how Niese and Pelf do this year. We need to get the line up configured to fit Citi Field....Jason Bay is not one suited for the stadium. But the main thing is the financial issues and how that will hurt us going forward so that we can rebuild and hopefully be a player in the free agent market.

You guys will certainly be better without Jerry. He's a great man, but as a manager.....? Being a White Sox fan, I've seen that act up close, and I was glad to see him go. I hope the ownership issues can be resolved. As much as it hurts me to say it, baseball is better all around when the Yankees and the Mets are good. At some point, I'd love to visit NYC during Mets-Yankees interleague play, and catch a game at each ballpark.

No need to even root for the Mess I mean Mets with mismanagement from the owners for the last 5yrs and now with the $1 billion lawsuit brought by the trustee for victims of the Bernard L. Madoff fraud. The Mess are broke!!!!!!!!!
They had to get loans from the MLB to stay a float!!!!!

The Mets resigned Castillo?? Please tell me this ain't so :(

No exactly Run. His contract is still good so there was never an issue of him being resigned. It's just that ppl were hoping that the Mets would eat his (and Oliver Perez's) contract, which hasn't happened. So @ the moment they are still w/ the team in FL and could be on the roster opening day.

I heard someone mention the possibility of the Mets trying to @ least trying to show that Castillo can still be useful for some team and ship him. But I don't know how true that is and from what I've been hearing on WFAN he has not been looking good so far.

One thing I know is that they're not going to "eat" his contract.
The Wilpons are too strapped for cash for that to happen. The right
(read white) coach will get maximum effort from him. But old veteran
players that need a foot up their ass are the worse kind to have on a young
team

I wouldn't say that it was a lack of him not trying (tho the rest of that team/clubhouse needed to be shaken up) but that he just genuinely sucks. Fans (me included) are still upset about that dropped pop up against the Yanks.

See, that's the problem. He DOESN'T suck. There is no disputing his talent. He has always
been a very good ALL AROUND second baseman. When he dropped the pop fly (a play I will
probably never forget) he just wasn't hustling. Drops a ball that even the WORST major
league will catch 100 out of 100 times. Guaranteed he doesn't drop that ball if Gardenhire
or Jim Leyland is the coach

I will admit that he is no Mo Vaughn nor is this basketball where a single player can lead a team to victory, but since he's been with the team he they haven't played well. Again that's a team effort but he hasn't really helped. 2 bad knees and one good year in 2009. But I will give you that he isn't the worst player to put on the orange and blue....hell I'd take him over Oli 20 times out of 10.

Go pirates!!!! Maybe we will only lose 104 games this year.

 We have the tendency to not finish well. The way you start is how you will end up. I'm a die hard fan I go in from the start.

No question, a winning attitude in the spring is good to carry-over into the regular season. I look at spring baseball as a process: work hard to get into good shape physically, mentally and especially mechanically. Those 3 carry-over and affect games more than anything else.

True the Yanks snatched up Curtis Granderson. We need winning players who want/know how to win over here.
