These new adds from Apple ae to be expected. Just makes it look like there worried.

Windows 7 Kills Snow Leopard and Eats It

1add8_ballmer-kittens.jpg

OK people, it’s over. Clearly, Windows 7 will kill and eat Snow Leopard. Apparently, people don’t give a damn about the kitten, but are drooling over Steve B’s beast. At least, that’s what Google Trends show below:

This is where a lot of you Windows fans (no diss intended) get it fucked up. Apple cant beat Microsoft (theyre too fucking big). But the thing is, they dont fucking need to. With the small ass percent of the market they own, they continue to do well even when the rest of the computer industry is taking a hit. And if Apple so happens to gain lets say, even 20% market share with reliable machines that have a minimum of a 5 year lifespan... IT WOULD REEK FUCKING HAVOC ON THE PC INDUSTRY! You would be saying goodbye to manufacturers like HP, Gateway, possibly Dell... cause it will directly eat away at their bottomline. ESPECIALLY if they continue to dilute the PC market with these cheap ass systems and netbooks that bring in small returns in revenue. And dont let me get started on what negative effects a greater Mac presence means for the IT industry. All that combined would put Microsoft in a really fucked up position and thats just with a 10% gain.

So all I gotta say is, be glad Apple cater's to a niche market with their "over-priced", reliable, well designed, well engineered, high quality, energy efficient, machines. Because if they went after the lower end of the spectrum, it would fuck up the PC Industry entirely.

Now Mofo Im gone hit you wit someshit I did in the late 80's..before protools and Logic were popular .....It was done on 8 track 1/4 inch and it's R and B and I plyed or programed everything you hear except the vocals that I arranged....
Just gimme a minute to upload this shit...The quality is not the same as the shit I'm doing now.....But it's my shit!!

Well for one thing you got have some kind of Music acumen to get any of them shits ....

Let me guess ....You a "Fruity Loops" or a "Acid" kind of mofo..
Somethin you can just manipulate some loops cause you got no Musical skills....

Cause if you ain't on A Mac You could not know nothin about Logic since Logic 5......
Btw If you a Digi Pro Tools kind of guy....you would know Logic is the prefered front end for them dudes...especially the ones on HD systems.....

ACTUALLY MY FELLOW SIR...LOGIC IS A GREAT PROGRAM, I'VE USED IT AND LOVED IT...BUT I HAVE TO DISAGREE WIT ALL Y'ALL NIGGAS DISSIN FRUITY LOOPS...:smh: YOU PEOPLE JUST FAIL TO UNDERSTAND THE CAPABILITIES THAT LIE WITHIN THAT PROGRAM...NOT EVERYBODY USES IT THE SAME WAY...NOT TO MENTION THAT IT'S MIDI COMPATABLE AND SUPPORTS VST'S LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE...WHATEVER YOU CAN'T DO ON FRUITY LOOPS THERES A PROGRAM YOU CAN INSTALL AND FRUITY LOOPS MAKES IT EVEN EASIER TO USE...ON A SIDE NOTE REASON DOES SUCK JUST FOR THE SIMPLE FACT THAT IT DOESN'T SUPPORT VST'S UNLESS U WIRE IT TO LOGIC OR PROTOOLS

At least you got the "Over-Priced" part right.

They’re all over priced, in my opinion. The trade-off in portability is nowhere near enough to justify such a hefty investment. Is it really so inconvenient to carry a Macbook, or even a Macbook Pro? Enough to spend that much more money?
On the other side, I’m glad some people are making the investment. It means the rest of us will see the benefits from manufacturers, i.e. like you stated above, HP, Dell, Toshiba, etc... learning how to build better, thinner computers. The more they push the envelop and fund this by a niche device (or devices), the more everyone benefits. :)

Additionally we will use the Mac Book Air as an example.

The macbook Air is a prime example of overcharging. A leisurely stroll through BestBuy looking for a mouse one day led me to notice that after 4 months of being out the MacBook air was nearly 2500 dollars. Further inspection led me to notice the components inside of it were the identical match to a laptop a girlfriend of mine has, she paid 600 dollars for hers. Are people really paying 10x more for the OSX? Really, the components are something along the lines of a radeon x1150, along with 1 gig of ram and a single core 2.5ghz cpu (the one i came across at least) and it was garbage. Looked at some videos of people opening them, and realized it's a bunch of ribbon cables in a fancy package. No ingenuity, just marketing to the idiot trendy crowd who go "ooohhh it's so small, and shiny" The thing was hot, hence why laptops should be made of something other than metals. Picked and poked around at some ebay prices, it was going for 2k used, used being the fact that people disliked em. To add to this, it's components are hard to replace, making repairs virtually impossible. If the 2k machine dies out, you're either A) buying a new one or B) paying the hefty fee to replace peices out of warranty. (if it's been long enough or you didn't bother with a warranty) Trendy as Apple can be, the iPhone was garbage in a shiny package, iPods break all the time, i've never had one last more than a year, and all parts are irreplacable. One thing that they could do to boost sales of the MacOS is to make it so that you can change parts within the machines.

Last example of a Mac vs. PC

Macbook Pro vs. Asus G50

Now remember, the G50 is $1700.
The
Macbook can be had for $2744, just over $1K more.

The first is the Macbook Pro in Red and the second is the Asus in Blue.
CPU Core 2 Duo @ 2.5GHz vs. Core 2 Duo @ 2.53GHz
RAM 2GB DDR2 vs. 4GB DDR2
GPU Nvidia 8600m GT(512mb) vs. Nvidia 9700m GT(512mb)
HDD 250GB 5400rpm vs. 500GB 5400rpm
LCD 15.4" or 17" vs. 15.4" (same resolution as 17" MBP - 1680x1050)
Weight 6.8lbs vs. 6.5lbs
Warranty 1yr vs. 2yrs

They both have cameras (though the Asus' is better quality - 2mp) and
microphones, and the Asus has 1 more USB port (4>3), but sacrifices
one Firewire port for an eSATA port (which the MBP does not have).

I'll let you figure out the rest.

No Beef here my bro.....My Whole criticism was towards Truth Logic Dissin....
I am well aware that you can do more than manipulate loops with FL...But you can in fact manipulate loops with it if you have No ability to create actual Music....thus that it might be more to a non musician ability...
But I will also stand by my viewpoint that Logic has Far wider capabilities Than FL For a serious Writer ....If you own Logic You know that is The truth......
Fact is If you can decode the proprietary wav format used in the native FL files you can import them into Logic and Do your Mixing and Mastering....you could do that in Pro Tools also....
FL has come a long way no Doubt...But it is not on a level with Logic,Cubase.Digital Performer or the various incarnations of Protools....And it is only fact that those apps take more Musical and technical acumen to operate....FL still remains the DAW of choice for the Ghetto Basement Producer....and that is not a Bad thing IMO.....

Well, even though your response had very little to do with the point I was making, and for the fact you consider the iPhone "garbage in a shiny package" leads me to believe I am completely wasting my time here... But let me just say that I completely disagree with you. I'll stick with your Macbook Air example for the sake of argument. The Macbook Air start at $1500 (price goes up if you add options like solid state drive, faster cpu, etc.), and comparing it with a $600 laptop is pushing it. The most comparable PC on the market with the same build quality, engineering, performance, and features is probably the dell adamo or some of the sony vaio systems. And both of these run around the same price range or even more.

You also have to take into consideration many other percs of the Mac laptops such as battery life, temperature management (I can have a Mac laptop in my bed for hours and it wont get nearly as hot as any PC I've used in the same circumstance), they run damn near silent, reliable as hell, come with a ton of Pro level software, and they last for YEARS (I still got a PowerMac G4 running just fine, and actually performing even better since I put 10.5 on it).

Now dont get me wrong, there are many aspects of the Apple product line that are overpriced (i.e. RAM, keyboards, mice). But all in all, you get a quality product that will last twice as long as any PC. And the whole overpriced argument is old. I can pick up a pair of boots at wal-mart for $10 bucks, but I'd rather spend $80 on some Timbalands any day. All for the simple fact they are built better, look better, last twice as long, and arent a hassle to maintain.

Now am I knocking PC users.. of course not. I was a PC user up until 2006. But outside of the price/spec argument (which in itself is largely exaggerated), I no longer see any benefits personally to sticking with Windows.

I remember in the the Verizon Droid commercial dudes were saying they shouldn't do that, and it means that the iPhone is the best.

Not realizing Apple does it too

Comparison and Anti ads have been done since marketing campaigns began.

closed thread. If you bought a MAC just to surf the web and basic shit, you just wasted your money.

The warring between Macs and PCs is getting out of hand. Both have their strong points. In the scientific community, most of the pograms are either Linux or PC based, there were some that could be ported to the Mac because of the X11 interface. I have used both and I could not come to a definitive answer as to which is better. It all depends on your needs. My two cents

Yea well maybe You do make Better "Beats"...Probably Cause I'm a Composer .....I write in all The Clefs and Keys and well I know a bit about Music.....

But I tell you what I accept your challenge...Post some of Yor Beat's And I'll post some of mine and let The Fam Decide...Your talk is Cheap....Yea or Nay Mofo??

Truth dropped some shit but he took it down because he had concens about it being stolen (he got jacked in the past, many of us have)... he definitely got you... The shit was pretty good..I enjoyed the track...

I just reinstalled 10.5.6 and installed win7 pro on my macbookpro. Snow Leopard is cool but I couldnt get past a app that I need for business that wont work with snow leopard.
Win7 is not bad. I prefer OSX now to windows.

How much RAM do you currently have on your macbook? I never thought to put Win7 on mine but now that I think about it, I just might do that. Are you using a BGOL release of Win7?

Some of y'all are missing the most critical aspects of why Macs are prefered by the multimedia users. I have both platforms so I don't want anyone to think I have any sort of bias. Yes you are paying more for a machine that has less hardware than some of their pc counterparts. The difference is how much more the hardware is utilized on Macs. On a Windows pc, you have to have so many apps running in the background that it eats away at the system resources leaving the user with far less than they would like. To counteract that, the user ends up having to upgrade their hardware to bring the performance back up to a preferred level. On a Mac, there isn't as much of a need for anything to run in the background & every program is given seperate slots of memory so if that program freezes, the rest of the programs are still able to function with minimal loss in performance.

I recently did a test between my macbook & my friend's pc. His pc is running a quad-core Intel processor & has 8GB of ram. My macbook is a core 2 duo w/ only 2GB of ram. I was able to open up & play 5 demos in reason, firefox & Logic all at the same without any freezing. His pc started to redline on his pc with 3 demos of Reason open.

I think I did answer the point you were making. I mean you say companies are flooding the market with these cheap ASS computers and Net Books. The net book is not for any kind power use. It serves as a ultra portable notebook for people on the go. But they must really suck since the consumers are buying them up. I also gave you a clear example of comparing the Mac to a G50. When these to notebooks came out that was the current pricing and specs. This was not a cheap $600.00 computer I compared it to.

Also true, I may have over exaggerated on the I Phone just a tad :D but wasn't there a big article just 2 weeks ago in New York that I Phones users, they admitted they had dropped calls 30% of the time. Great, you got cool looking nifty Apps, but call quality sucks. I'll stick with my Black Berry Tour thanks.

You also mention reliability of the Mac being superior?

I have used a Dell Desktop PC for the past 5 years for web design, graphics development, media encoding and editing, gaming and more and I have never had a problem.

I use a Custom Built Quad Core with 3 Ultra 8800 nVidia Triple SLI video cards and two 24″ LCD screens, 8GB RAM, 1 TB Hard Drive, 2 x 150GB Raptor hard drives in Raid 0, 1 x 500GB Hard Drive, X-Fi Xtreme Gamer 5.1 surround sound and running Windows 7 Eternity Edition 64bit.

It is twice the value (price for power) of a MAC and I have never had a blue screen or any application problems whatsoever. In fact prior to Windows 7 I ran Vista Eternity Edition 64 Bit and I also NEVER had any problems. Now for me, reliability has never been an issue. Plus if there is ever a problem, it helps that I know how to work on PC's.

Also just like Flawless was getting at earlier about Bootcamp. But people were fakin.

Tell me why that 1/3rd of the people I know who own a Macbook are running Windows 7 on it and around half of those in media and film making are now also running Windows vs a Mac. So you can also ditch the stereotypes of creative’s owning Macs.

Yes Mac's are reliable and safe with virus attacks (for now), and it's true most Mac users are former PC users like yourself up until 2006. I like this example below....

.jpg

Lastly the reason I won't go to a Mac. I'm a PC gamer

Comparing Gaming on a PC and a Mac:

applevsdelldj9.jpg

This concludes my debate, because we can go back and forth forever. It's been fun. :) Just some food for thought, since this original thread was for how Apple is poking at Windows for the new 7. Only time will tell if MS can get the trust back from the PC market.

bassically. If it aint protools why bother? I mean u can do similar things, but with protools its like Flying Air Force 1, Logic is like Flyign South WEst.......lol its nice for students and low-no budget recordings, but everyone hasand uses protools. Not too many artists or movie houses use Logic because chances are when they go from studio to studio they will be using protools.

Pro tools is "pro tools" because it was one of the first high end tracking systems agreed upon by studios in the 90's... It's was made popular because of the multitrack recording interface when the big studios would run everything thru big consoles.....Logic is more for composition, heavy sequencers and programmers been that way since the 90's...It's just as much of a standard in the UK and other countries around the world, been that way since the early 90's.. It dominates other genre of music like Dance/Electronica......

Question when did pro tools implement midi sequencing? It was in the 2000's I know that...why? because logic and cubase were kicking ass...The midi aint got nothing on logic...

I do mostly dance music and pro tools just wont cut it when it comes to programming & sequencing....

Naw my bro I cannot hate on what a person feels....I'm the same way

Like I said The 80's shit was done on 8 track 1/4 inch tape ....and except for the Drum which was a Roland 909 everything was played or song....
The singer on the 1st track was named Lori Larkin and she was a Narc.....She had a hell of a voice....those tracks where meant to be demo tracks......and a lot of people dug em at the time....But I been in Music long enough to know as regards peoples taste a lot of shit is subjective Was no lost of Focus I took that exactly where I wanted to.....with what I had to work with...so Your ears are just tuned different...and thats fine

Do Sumthin was very well recieved....But their were some that did not feel it like yourself....Btw...No general Midi.....
