The warring between Macs and PCs is getting out of hand. Both have their strong points. In the scientific community, most of the pograms are either Linux or PC based, there were some that could be ported to the Mac because of the X11 interface. I have used both and I could not come to a definitive answer as to which is better. It all depends on your needs. My two cents

Good ol' Windows XP.....Honestly, my main reason for switching was the ease of use I get from using OS X.....applications run more smoothly to me. I got tired of constantly updating anti-virus, malware, spyware, etc.....I just got sick of the general maintenance involved with owning a Windows machine......call me lazy....I just wanna turn my computer on, use it for whatever reason & turn it off without having to worry about constant scans, updates & various other bullshit associated with a Windows PC.....

It's not necessary and too complex for what it does. I can do all and more with Reason and Abelton Live. No need for all that Logic shit. I have my shit mixed in pro tools in the studio, but at home it's all reason.

I dare you to take the same drum samples and run them thru the "ultra beat" module in logic and a/b them dry with reason... Night and day difference for me...Reason sounded a little muffled dark and smeary in the mids for my tastes...


No disrespect but I know you aint neva really sat down with it, because if you did you would know that the sequencer is only second to 1 and thats the MPC 3000....and It has the tightest side chain compressor on par with pro tools... Most other programs have a delay with the side chain. It's as complex as you want it it to be, It can be as simple as garage band, or you can get into some old aphex twin type editing. I switched to it in late 07 (even tho I tried before with older versions) and haven't looked back... I can get shit really tight down to the smallest nuances rhythmically... But then again Im doing mostly dance music so timing is of the utmost of importance...


I've heard live is really really cool and I don t doubt that. I messed with it for a few days before... I just didn't have the time to master it's unique interface...

I just reinstalled 10.5.6 and installed win7 pro on my macbookpro. Snow Leopard is cool but I couldnt get past a app that I need for business that wont work with snow leopard.
Win7 is not bad. I prefer OSX now to windows.

Well from my experience the more attention to detail given to the root sound sources, the better the engineer can do his thang... I'm am an engineer also, so I can be a bit overly anal about sounds, but it can make a mix "better" overall in the log run... Bigger, louder etc...As the saying goes "shit "in", shit out"

the algorithms in reason software vs the mathematical algorithms in logic software are not in the same league... I prefer the sound of fruity loops to the sound of reason... Thats just my snobbery tho...

Yea them algorithms make all the difference.....
Cat evidently don't understand The audio engines in Reason and Logic are from 2 different worlds....
Reason compared to Logic soundwise is like comparing a 24bit wav or aiff file to a mp3....The Bandwith in Logic is just bigger...
If you Rewire Reason into Logic and take The Thor Synth and run it in Logic The Sound Expands....But it also becomes more difficult to control and thus takes more Skill....
When you look at a Reason Refill and compare it to more traditional formats it becomes apparent When you work in Reason shit is real compressed.....But it does sound good....But Dynamically it's not with Some other DAW's
