Fund guys. Thoughts on VT, VTI and BND?

Separately or together? VTI or VT + BND forms one of the classic Boglehead portfolios. You'd have good diversity and can rebalance easily between stocks and bonds..

VTI (total American Market) and VT (total WORLD Market, incl. America) may be redundant, you don't need both imo.
A lot of ppl choose to stick with the US market and go with VTI.
But if you think the International Markets might outpace in the long term, or want exposure there (personally, I like some international exposure, but do it with VTI + VXUS in my ira) you can go with VT and call it a day.

EDIT: You can also think of it this way...

VTI: Total US Market
VXUS: Total International Market
VTI + VXUS = VT: Total WORLD Market

..just have to decide how diversified geographically (or not) you want to be.

Appreciate it. Should I open a 401k of some kinds in my Tdameritrade account and buy them inside that or just own them individually like stocks. Looking for the best tax advantages.

I think the type of account or where to park em would depend on your goal with those funds (retirement?) and your investment horizon..

I'll let someone else with more experience with the tax advantages/disadvantages answer though. I'm still green in that department outside of my own personal situation. I THINK that set up is best in a retirement account though (401k like you said.. or an IRA).

A 401k you get from work or if you own your own business. If you dont have a roth IRA already you should definitely open one and try to max it out every year.

Damn good advice. I say, defer taxes with traditional if your income is over 100K and expect it to be lower after retirement, put in Roth's if your income is expected to increase over time but low now.

Do you know how long I held Tesla at $36 before I could sell it at $100?

I think I’m 5000 shares deep in MULN. I don’t think they’re a real company. I’m not saying RIVN is trying to get bought, but they’re going to be burning through $10 billions per quarter for the next 3-5 years.

I agree! But real talk tesla is a tech company which happens to sell cars.. riv.. well its just a car or truck company... so me i got in riv and made some money and sold out of there...

Question for the experts. With the Fed signaling raising interest rates next year, how is this going to impact the markets going forward? especially oil stocks and stocks, sectors/industries?

Thanks

technically stocks go down when interest rates go up
as money becomes more expensive to borrow
therefore less consumer spending

we would be expecting stocks to go down
bonds cd rates to go up

That is literally what I’ve been focused on other than crypto. Will be maxed out on Roth by end of Jan. No kids or wife so all that Xmas money is going to the Roth and BTC. I did my Roth with Edward Jones. Who did you guys get yours with?

Keep up the good work and keep inspiring others to save for retirement, many people are way behind. Suicide will be the new retirement for a lot of our people. The longest street in America is Front Street which is dead end road.
