Anybody jumping on Lending Club? I didn't find out about until it was up 53% so I left it alone. It's close to 60% now. I actually wanted to lend money with them about 3 years ago but they're not authorized my my state.

Buddy of mine told me about this.
Said he was up about 15% on the year.
I did a little research, and it appears to be different level of investment $$ and some associated risk of payback/default.
But, where are ya'll getting the 60% though? Is it more than one particular loan vs. another? Is there an option more like a mutual fund combination of loans or something I missed?

The IPO was today.

not I

I'll say it again, you picked a good one kiddo. it's even past the $35mark. all the airline stocks spiked today on the news of crude oil dropping some more. time to load up. i got DELTA, Virgin and American airlines

It did have a bad week, but I grabbed some more at it's low a few days ago. They just announced a partnership with China and she jumped back up over $33. It's a fun roller coaster ride watching that shit go up and down.

A lot of stock heads are saying this shit should hit $40 and above when the 4th quarter earnings drop.

The IPO was $15, by time it hit the public it was trading at $22-$23. This shit is at $26 now and looking strong!

2014 was good to most of us on this thread. The Bulls were on our side. Let us hope we can keep the momentum or at least part of it this year. That being said, it's a new year. Let's hear your picks and if you're going long or short. i know i'm definitely gonna go easy on the day trading this year. i caught some major Ls though but considering i started with only 23k in my portfolio and ended up making 26k in profits, i'd say it wasn't bad at all

I'm planning to research this stock….the LNG market is expanding, theres expansions underway.
Southwest Louisana and Southeastrn Texas invented major money in this market.

LNG: Cheniere Energy Inc (Amex)
MSN Money · Data in USD
▲70.88
*2010 the stock was less than $5

I'm looking for a cheaper stock to start off with just to break ground with, but i'm keeping a close eye on this stock. The additions have hit the net yet, so I'm thinking the price should see a immediate increase after the updates

Shake Shack Inc - $14.00-$16.00 IPO
Flex Pharma Inc - $12.00-$14.00
Advanced Accelerator Applications SA -$13.00-$15.00 IPO

haven't heard of any of these. IPOs petrify me. you never know which way they might go

Looking at oil companies now might be the best time ever to drop 5-10k ( can't keep cheap gas forever).

this is very true. just right now there's so much uncertainty as to when it'll bottom out. a good case for dollar cost averaging into a good solid oil company

bump. i know it goes against conventional wisdom but..........i got my portfolio heavily weighted in apple. i'm thinking about increasing my position in apple to about 100k. a company on its way to a trillion dollar valuation in my opinion is set for life. set it and leave it.

u might have something there

i see. will check it out. have you "perfected" it yet? and has it made you a lot of money?

Not yet...:D
I started with 2k and now I'm almost up to 3K.
At the moment I trade monthly options in SPY, SPX, AEX or AAPL and I only do risk defined trades

Looking back I did some stupid trades like closing losing trades immediatelty before expiration. :smh:

There's a lot of room for improvement
-choosing the right strategy, strike price
-defending a losing position
- managing trades etc..

I'd say if you do OTM trades selling options you can definitely get a 100% return annually by getting at least 10% return on each trade.

i don't get options man. don't understand the concept. i've tried to learn it but i guess i don't have the patience neither for it. you're the options guy.

My 401k is in a vanguard select value fund. I used to put money in their healthcare and mid-cap value ETS before I started messing with 3x etfs. They have low expense ratios too.

Thank you

would you recommend it?

I have 3g's to play with this month
and this is my first big job, so I want to start investing.

I have been reading up on personal finance at reddit, but its always nice to hear bgols opinions

I used midcap value and healthcare ETFs for(relatively) lower risk. Small caps and large caps seem to be more susceptible to the random downturns in the market(just my personal opinion. Not financial advice). With the emergence of etf's, I don't know why someone would put money in a traditional mutual fund. You can buy and sell like stock and get your money in 3 days. Here's a list of vanguard etf's:
