Lol, slow day huh? I think you mean standard time. I read a few months ago the fed govt was trying to make daylight savings time permanent. Be glad you don't live in London where it is dark as fuck at 3:30PM around this time of the year.

Daylight saving time ends Sunday. These 19 states want to make it year-round.
If you're tired of changing your clocks twice a year, there could be some hope on the horizon. But a change to federal law would be required.

It's damn near pitch black at 5:30 now. I hate this time of year. I love it when summer's just starting, when in some places it doesn't even start to get dark until 9:30.

how far south though? anyone 30N or higher going to feel that difference. Especially them northern folk.

I'm in New Orleans we are currently getting sunrises that start about 7am and sunsets that start about 7:15 pm.
My preference is for how it is during mid June when the sunrise is about 5:45am and sunset is about 8:15pm
Nothing will change for mid June. You will notice a difference between November and March.
NC mid summer sunset is around 8:45 to 9pm
But not changing the clock back this winter makes sunrise at 830 am

But I suspect a lot of the Government resistance to cancel the time change is that Earth is slowly shifting erratically on its axis. If they released information like that, the Doomsday Nutjobs out here will lose their mind causing global economic damage.
There has been scientific proof that the Earth has shifted a number of times over its 4 Billion Years of existence along with magnetic pole changes.
There are theories that Antarctica may once have had life with forests and grasslands when the Earth was in a different position on its axis. Evidence may be there buried under the ice and glaciers.
We may start seeing it with all the ice melting now due to climate change.

This is true! I'd leave work at 6-7 pm when I was there and it's dark as fuck. Colder than a MF too!

Some,white dude wanted to studied insects a lot longer during the day so he complained to Congress and that's one of the main reasons why we have Daylight Savings til this day.
I thought it was for the farmerS to farm longer... during the summer.. brah
