Anybody in Marketing?

I have my degree in Communications, more specifically Broadcasting, Telecommunications and Mass Media.

How can I get in on the ground floor? I'm trying to cater my resume to moreso reflect my skills in that field, but it's not working too well.

I got my degree in Communications in May...my focus was public relations. I did 2 marketing internships in college and decided to go into the field as a career. Having those on my resume definitely helped me land the job I have now.

It's tough...what kind of marketing are you looking to go into? That'll make all the difference in how you should structure your resume. My job now is marketing for an accounting firm, so it's more about developing proposals and doing client research. If you're looking for more hands-on marketing, I'd say you should go into business development or sales. At my job, I sell services...product marketing is always more detail-oriented and hands-on.

The deal w/ finding a job is that it's pretty much a numbers game...apply to as many jobs as you can, and hopefully you'll get a few calls back and a few interviews. I graduated in May and didn't get a job until September. Hope this helps...

Yes, siiiiiir. What do you need help with? Are you changing careers? Do you have a camera? In this YouTube era you need to self making videos as much as you can to work on presence, poise, and delivery if I understand you correctly.

Any type of marketing, product, service or otherwise.

How do I go about requesting a salary. I'm on monster and careerbuilder, etc, and a lot of them are asking for salary requirements. Do I post it in the header of my resume, in my cover letter?

I wouldn't even say I have a career, I've been juggling 3 jobs, none of which I am too interested in.

My bad. Maybe you got a job for Christmas. I would post the salary requirements in the cover letter. I never use them but that is where salary requirements should go. I hope this helps.
