I had a hard copy way back in the day. I've since lost it somehow. If I recall correctly, I believe the hard copy book actually had an "appendix" where a lot of the terms where defined.
Another one of his books, "Trick Baby"...they did make a movie for that one. It was on Netflix streaming a few weeks ago, but now it looks like it's back to DVD rental only.
Like someone said before, Donald Goines "Whoreson" is pretty equal to "Pimp", and a little easier to follow. I recommend that one too.

I thought he did a good job talking a little about the social and racial aspect during those times. It's been years since I read it but I liked how he talked about CAC's and there lustful desires for blacks.
Yeah, that's that shit. One of my favorite books. Airtight Willy & Me was pretty good too. I still gotta get around to finishing Black Gangster by Donald Goines. 
I found all those Iceberg Slim and Donald Goines books on Amazon years ago and copped like 5 at a time because they were an inexpensive alternative to TV. I would finish them in a week and order some more.

Yeah I agree. "Pimps" are the most insecure of all men. The bravado is merely a cover up for their weaknesses and insecurities. Real aren't afraid treat women like queens and real men know that when you do treat women like the queens and goddesses they are, it raises your level of a manliness to a higher level.

I read that book when I was a sophomore in college. That and Airtight Willie and Me were my favorite ones by Iceberg.
I read some in high school. I got the book from the library, and my moms found it in my book bag and snapped on me! She thought I was trying to be a pimp, I guess. Confiscated my shit. I don't know what she did with it cuz' I went back to the library every two weeks and NEVER seen that book again.......
please give it another try miss. The pimp game especially as it is told in the book is TRULY a microcosm of how society is pimped by the powers that be. Shit is eye opening when you apply how slim controls his hoes to how us as a people (black folk) are being controlled today on the entire planet.
^ Same here, infact "Black Girl Lost" was the 1st of Goines' books I stumbled across....... Very good reads then and now......

I have read all of Slim and Goines work. Both offer a unique view point into "the life". I think Pimp and Mama Black Widow were my favorite works of Slim. As for Goines, I think Dopefiend was raw, almost too much so. But I would read them all over again. I got a great deal on amazon for all of them awhile back.
Yes pimp is one of his best I have read all of his and donald Goins books They should be required reading

I read all the Goines novels in high school. Dopefiend was the one that did it for me. May be time to see how I relate to them 15 years later. I never did get into Slim's books though.

Great book overall. Takes u deep into his life without glorifying the pump shit at all. It's a dose of his reality.
One of the best books I ever read. It made me understand women especially black women a lot better. Every woman has the potential to ho and every women has an inner freak.
