Anybody ever break into your house or apartment?

I keep a sign on my front door warning that there's a dog in the house AND OWNER IS ARMED. I also have a Ring Doorbell...these 2 things cut by 99 percent the amount of activity by my door (condo).

Lastly I barricade my door on the inside when I go to bed. I park my hand truck (dolly) sideways against the door so it would cause a great commotion if entry was made. I also sleep with a box cutter by my bed, last line of defense.
Gotdayum where do you live... Beirut?

As a kid came home one day and these dudes had broken into mom's room. Scared the shit outta me. Grabbed a butcher's knife and chased them down the street, let me pause.

1. Lucky they didn't have a gun
2. I'm lucky my dumb ass didn't fall on the knife.
3. someone ended up calling the cops on me not them :hmm:

2 cameras in the back, one camera on the front door.....all doors and windows have sensors.

I've always wanted to go on vacation and take a lot of pics...then get back home and make everyone think I'm still on vacation to see which m/f tries to break in.

My step sister won a vacation trip to Hawaii, and posted on Facebook while she was still there (in Hawaii) that she would be there till the end of the week....well guess what? when she got back home, someone broke into her house and cleaned it out. She had the nerve to get back on Facebook and asked which one of you m/f robbed me. She had to learn the hard way...she is not rich, but the little shit she had was gone.

Damn sorry to hear that fam...Yeah just more reassurance I need to get that pistol ASAP....Sucks I live in DC with all the BS you have to go through to get one, but FUCK IT.

To quote Big Boi from Outkast, two things I hate liars and thieves make my blood boil

People ask me all the time why I live all the way out in Diddy Wah Diddy, AKA Medina Ohio AKA The Sticks. Is a town of 92% white people (at least)

Why do you live all the way out there?

My apartment was robbed in 2006 when I was deployed. My brother was staying there and they stole my Xbox, my brothers PlayStation 2, all of my porn DVDs

I had a 60 inch rear projection dinosaur of a TV that look like a fucking brontosaurus so they couldn't take that. They also couldn't take my DVD player because the Neilsen TV ratings had hardwire connected it and they couldn't disconnect it.

The thieves left a crowbar in the middle of the floor as I guess they ran out because they were surprised or got scared or something

When my brother got back to the house he called the police and it took them 7 hours to get there. And the crowbar, they left it in the middle of the floor and didn't even take it for evidence

Now I've watched CSI since it came on in 2000, so I know about fingerprints. All they had to do was take the crowbar, dust it for fingerprints and find "Antoine Jenkins" and "JaKorey Scott's" fingerprints all over it

"Antoine Jenkins" grandmother lives around the corner. They could have found him no problem. But that was too difficult or too expensive for the cops to do, even though there were a rash a break-ins in the area of which they were likely the culprits

They could have solved the crimes, but they were too cheap or too lazy - typical cops.

As soon as I got back from deployment I moved from that apartment on the border of East Cleveland and Cleveland Heights on Coventry to an apartment building in Willoughby Hills (East of Cleveland) and three years later found this house out here in Medina for $160,000

I've been out here for twelve years, and even though I got divorced in 2012, I still maintain this place very well on just my salary. Since then my property values doubled.

This is the difference: in November of 2010 I went to bed at 2 a.m. and at 2:20 my alarm went off

'GARAGE DOOR. GARAGE DOOR'

Some bored teenagets attempted to break in my exterior garage door into my garage. The alarm sounded, Vivint called me at 2:20 and at 2:25 they said the police were in my driveway

The police were in my driveway in 5 minutes.

I know a large percentage of white people are racist. I know a large percentage of white people hate the fact that I'm out here but I don't give a fuck.

I feel safe.

The city dies after 10 p.m. and it's quiet as a church mouse. I often go for walks in between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. just so I can take advantage of the peace and quiet and absolutely no people I see at that hour

Now, I've got that heater in case someone breaks in.

Never ever again. We’re pretty lax around here. Leave doors unlocked all day. Garage open all day. Small community

Yeh i remember those days decades ago before cameras etc. then our cars started getting broken into, get notices to please lock our house doors, to hoa saying we can use the office address for deliveries so it doesn't stolen of the porch.

sadly times are changing.

Have you allowed anyone new around your crib? Have Anybody been working On your house as far as upgrades or something past few months? … just thinking of any possible suspects… sucks to hear that hope everything turns out well for you

This. I'm 40 years old and lived on my own since I was 20 & never been broken into *knock on wood*. I'm an introvert by nature so I definitely keep my home private from people as much as I can. If I have people visit it's very close family or close friends but that is on rare occasions.

I know some things you can't avoid like a repair man fixing something in your house and scoping your shit out at the same time. 95% of the time its someone you personally know or someone of another person you know that you weren't close with.

Place I used to stay at in the early-2000s got robbed. Wasn't much there to steal though - high-end stuff was hidden, and they didn't bother with the older electronics.

Cars have been looked through a few times - nothing taken - everything is locked in the trunk. Nothing visible on seats or in glove box.

Childhood home's garage was robbed back in the early-90s. They took my dad for a bunch of shit - power tools, electronics, car parts, etc. He was pissed.

Damn sorry to hear about that fam o_O
I don't know how helpful ther police would be
But did they at least dust for fingerprints?
Try asking neighbors if they have those doorbell cameras
Maybe someones cam caught the thief's car/truck :dunno:
Wish they could be shot on sight.

Had recurring break ins at a house I used to stay at.

When we finally caught them one was 14 years old...kids from the neighborhood.

Could have caught them breaking in and killed them down here...Georgia. They knew our cars and knew when we were gone.

Yeah I got got 2 years in a row back about 10 years ago, neighbor across the street had some punk kids so I’m sure it was them knowing my work schedule. The first time I pulled up and saw my back open, I jumped out and ran in ready to kill somebody but I didn’t have a gun or anything so if it was a group of them they would’ve beat my ass..lol. I guess i either came back while they were in the process or they were making trips because my laptop and desktop were gone and my shoes (about 6 pair of Nikes) and different shirts were gathered up. The cops were worthless and didnt even try to do anything

Once when I was 8. I grew up in New Orleans and during a flood in the 90s my folks along with my sis and cousins all went to stay in a hotel.

Got back home and our place had been broken into. They took a bunch of VHS and some clothes of my sis and mom. They left money and game console, left jewelry too so I'm guessing it was some crack heads, because who else plans a break in during a flood/hurricane. I believe they stole my vintage xmen figures too (Apocalypse, Human Torch, Omega Red, Wolv)

In my 20s I've had some crack heads break in my car but they left everything except the coins.

Always had a dog,G sheppard,Rottie and a small Mutt that would bark and not back down to nothing not even God or the Devil. After that an alarm system was the way to go after they became more affordable and less of a headache.

I hope you recover and things like this usually make things better for you the next time...

Once. They got a laptop and some every day jewelry from the bedroom. Found out later it was a crew working the neighborhood. A few weeks later, a few blocks away, 2 dudes got capped breaking in someone’s house.

got a ring and backyard camera, no issues since.

Damn insurance company only give you a percentage of the current value for items…. no cash replacement. Hope you had your watch insured and appraised.

I’ve had 3 break ins. Insurance cut me a check first time in 03 for zero, 09 for 5k,15 for 18k.

Lmbao @ Boxcutter why????? Ain’t you in Atlanta? I got Ring Cameras on all entry points. My neighbor shares one of his ring cameras facing my house and I share my camera facing his house. When home I got the XD 9MM with the hollowpoints. I would never do another apartment then shits are break ins waiting to happen.

@papi68 are you in a house or Apartment? Get yourself the Ring System. Alarm & Doorbell cam.
I got 7 entrances to my house, that would be expensive.
I plan to get cams tho, 8-12 cams for house, garden and barn.

Maybe 5-6 cams inside house

I have nothing against firearms just don't have much experience with them.
Makes sense. My sister took a class by NAAGA (national African American Gun association) for $200 that she said was dope, she told me some stuff I didn't know.

Guns, Range, & Safes in Forest Park has classes, too. And they have several guns to rent to see what you're comfortable with.

this usually make things better for you the next time...
I was just thinking about this. My homeowners insurance renewal next month, I'm not really knowledgeable about my policy limits because I was so busy during the buying process that the mortgage people just got it through one of their references.

I wonder what all I should be looking for

Why zero first time? What did you learn about the insurance process and what to include in the policy?

I live in a end unit Townhome. I have 2 cameras covering my driveway, 1 covering the side and a doorbell camera on the front and back doors. I also have an inside camera in the family room and alarms on the 2 main doors. I keep my cameras running 24/7 but they only record when they detect motion.

Yessa.. boss...this is the way...I keep a savage animal..with more torque in they jaws.. than a Nascar transmission...jackkk

I like the Ring System because it’s totally wireless. They have cheaper indoor and outdoor cams and you can bundle and save if you find a good deal at Sam’s or Costco. The $100 a year monitoring is also very good, they call if your shit go off. I have one camera inside the house but it’s only activated when I’m out the house and the system is armed.

Damn, the trailer park popping like that?

:roflmao:

Not too much crime where I live but I have the ring door bell, two flood light cameras, and the alarm system. Alarm system has back up battery and cellular. $10 a month for monitoring and unlimited devices, Highly recommended.

Damn, some people got us tonight. All cash, high end purses and jewelry. Did not have alarm or cameras on.

Yes, but only when in my younger days when I was in an Apartment. When you do your cameras do you do them or does a company do it?

The first time the broke in they took a whole bunch of guns and video games. It was the kid around the block who used to come over and play video games. Of course the muthfucka got caught, my stepdad refused to press charges.

Second time it was the neighbor. He swiped a bunch of jewelry. Cops knew he did it but he was a kid and they kinda went soft on him. Filed with insurance and they paid out, but please believe they was investigating the shit out of MY ASS for months to make sure I wasn’t in on the shit.
