You in queens right? Good luck with the raccoons, possums, cats and squirrels lol
Squirrels started fucking up my tomatoes... would sit on the brick post... eat a third of one and leave the rest.... I just stopped planting them.... then they started doing a number on all my plants planted in pots around the front of my crib...digging them up....eating others....even when I said fuck it this year and last year and planted nothing ... they still dig in the pots.... tried some shit that was supposed to irritate their noses when they poked in it..... same story... I miss having flowers planted everywhere.... :hmm:

Squirrels and chipmunks are the worst. I expect them to get some, but its how they go about it. In such a hurry they tear and break the branches leaving them shredded. They're up at sunrise to eat the fruit way before its ripe enough for me to pick it, so by the time it ripens more than half of it is half eaten. Half eaten because they take a bite and drop it, just to bite another one. They dig up flower bulbs and do the same thing. I don't hate them, but I've lost all compassion for them. I trap and kill them. I have a small yard and it usually takes me killing a bout a dozen before the problems gets better. Then I start in on the birds and give them the same treatment.

I grew tomatoes for like three years in a row.... would have enough for the whole summer and fall... so much that I would freeze a lot for sauces and stews.... had squirrels but they never fucked with them.... then one year.... it was open season and has been ever since...:(

Yeah man, I love having my own produce in the freezer over the winter, especially berries for smoothies. I had to decide how far I was willing to go to keep having that, and bought a couple of small animal traps. If you like growing tomatoes, that may be what it takes. I watched a dude on youtube do about 50 in one day. He was super serious.

Squirrels are abundant here... even in the city.... saw 6 juvenile ones playing with each other in the street about a week ago.....never seen that many at one time before....

It depends on how wet it is. If you frequently have standing water, then you'll need to find a way to drain it or deal with a crazy mosquito problem during warmer weather. If it's just occasionally soggy there are some plants that may help soak it up.

Or he could treat the water, drop dragon fly larvae in water or plant some weed

Mockingbirds were killing my berries until I put up a bird net. They are like the squirrels, straight tearing the leaves off of my blueberry bushes in spite, punching holes in tomatoes, pecking holes in hot peppers. I caught one of them fuckers, soaked him with the water hose, and left him out to the hawks. I will straight kill them shits now.

Stupid rabbits hiding in my BBQ pit, digging up the lawn and hiding in my rosemary plants having babies and shit. They're the next to go.

I've got two tomato plants 9 pepper plants, four different kinds of Basil, beets, onions & catnip to go along with the rest of the mint plants that overtook the garden

I had a bunch of leftover dirt and bricks from a tree that I cut down in my front yard. I'm planting four or five different kinds of mint there because mint will choke out weeds (orange mint; lavender mint; chocolate mint, variegated mint, blue balsam mint).

The bricks I put up to keep the extra dirt in place

There are quite a few plants that can be grown in pots which will resprout and produce year after year. Which ones you select depends on what your balcony is like (how much sun it gets), what you enjoy visually, like to eat, and how much work you're willing to do.

I have a sunny balcony. What kind of work are you talking? I want to water and give plant food, maybe some pruning.

If you get six to eight hours of direct sunlight on the balcony you can grow almost anything. I'd suggest you start with a couple plants producing a fruit you like. Strawberries are great starter plants for growing in planters.

I have been at war with those tiny bitches for years. I just can't get completely rid of them. I've tried just about everything, but they keep coming back. Before I bring any plants back inside I guess Ima have to spend some real money on wiping out them little filthy animals.

chefresha was taking about spider mites on her indoor plants on her IG story yesterday. She took the plant out side and hosed the plant down with water, then used neem oil. She has a Cordyline.

Yeah I built a 9x5x8 room in my garage I sealed it off sprayed Bleach then insecticide, bombed my attic,

lined the walls with reflective 6mm liner, got an ac infinity 4in fan with temp and humidity controls, it draws cool air from inside the house, 4 lights, 2 6in fans. But I couldn’t get the intake lowered, so the air is like 82 even with the house ac at 70
I have the ceilin fan runnin 24/7 to move the warmer air from intake.

all that work and a fuckin small ass bug is my hell

didn’t have that issue till I got some different dirt

I trashed that shit, washed all my pots

guess neem oil is my new friend,

Man, that sounds like a lot. I hope it works for you. Like I said, I've tried nearly everything including neem oil, and nothing has kept them from returning. I'm going to try a another product that is formulated exclusively for spider mites and see if that works as advertised. The real issue is that they are a terrible problem outside my house as well. My tomatoes get them nearly every year toward the end of the season. They are so small, but multiply so fast and can fuck up a plant so quickly.
