The reason why he knew the guy is because they had prior run ins. Jermaine Reid, 36, had spent about 13 years in prison for shooting at New Jersey State Police troopers when he was a teenager. Reid was also arrested in August on charges of obstruction, resisting arrest, heroin possession with intent to distribute and marijuana possession. Reid struggled with an officer attempting to arrest him for the outstanding warrant and was subdued with pepper spray. Police found 27 doses of heroin.

Failure of the driver and/or passenger to tell the cop there was a gun in the glove compartment before he opened it. Dude saw the cop trying to open the door and didn't unlock it allowing the situation to escalate.

When I initially saw the video it was on my phone. didn't get a chance to read the article and for some reason I thought he shot the driver, I didn't really even know there was a passenger and didn't even see him get out the car since I was focusing on the driver.

After watching again I can't front the passenger seemed to have brought that on himself. especially running out the car like that thought the shots were obviously excessive.

Here we go again, A uniformed cop sees a gun in the passenger side glove box and has a gun pointed at your ass literally telling you (eight times no less) DON'T MOVE and that he will shoot you if you do now what do you consistently do? move.....repeatedly, you even go as far as to attempt to get out the car never being told to do so(with HANDS UP if that justifies the "you can't shoot me" rule to you) and your ass is shot multiple times by both cops. They'll claim there was some suspicious movement not caught on camera and the fact that there was a gun in the car will be enough for anyone looking to justify the shooting to exonerate the cops of any wrongdoing.

First of all the cop got startled because there was a gun in the car... Just one question: If a cop is pointing a gun at you, what logical reason would you have for getting out of the car when the cop, who is pointing a gun at you, tells you NOT to move?

1) cop finds gun in the car that was unreported by either occupants of the vehcle

2)driver doesn't move a muscle, but the passenger forces his way out of the car AFTER cop tells him not to move

3) gun is found on the passenger side of the car

4)cop knows the passenger thru a previous arrest - is aware of his record for shooting at cops in a previous arrest

most incidences of cops getting shot during carstops occur when the occupant feels that they have a chance because the cop isn't assertive or forceful. There is no better time to be forceful than when you find a gun during a car stop. The cop has no idea what else in the car.

Unless this was a hit (I wouldn't discount the possiblity), the passenger caused his own death.
