Another AT&T promo...Trade in damn near any phone, even a Galaxy S2, & get $800 off a new Galaxy S22 !!!

Huh ???
Fam they are giving you a $800 credit towards a new Samsung Galaxy phone
They are spreading the credit out over multiple years, but its still a free $800 phone
They are doing it that way so someone doesn't get the new phone, then turns around & sells it tomorrow

This is the same exact promotional deal they offered a few months ago
Only difference now is, they don't even care if the screen is cracked

Phones are overpriced

Phones are overpriced

They are priced right.

The thing is people don’t use these smartphones for their full capabilities and what they were intentionally designed for.

Majority of folks use their phones mainly for calls, texts and check their social media.

Steve Jobs never intended for the iPod to be a phone. It was supposed to work in tandem with the iMac.

He had noticed one day at a airport seeing business travelers lugging around a laptop and multiple phones. The original idea was to transfer your information from the iMac to the iPod and make it easier to handle your work and checking emails and other work related things.

He was pushed by Apple folks to put a phone on it….and that’s what we got today with the iPhone and other smartphones.

They tried to convince him to put a phone on the iPad, but he said no.

Yeah most definitely
You can tell, from the way they drop in value, in just a couple years
Like a rock falling off the empire state building

People make it easy by accepting.

Fuk you mean priced right? Who sets the bar on the price? Your logic is the reason these companies get away with gouging. The game shouldn't be let's pay as much as possible. FOH with a $800 and up phone that the screen will crack relatively easy, charging port may fuck up. Camera may fuck up, software may fuck up. Gotta by a charging cord every 4--6 months. Etc, Etc, Etc

The Galaxy plus is over $2K...... Fuk Dat

Its not just a phone.

It’s a computer, smaller than a laptop or desktop.

If you only using it mainly as a phone, for a phone it’s overpriced.

For what they do and as much as we use them, they are worth $7-800.

I have two Galaxy S9's. I've had them since the day they were released. Use em like the tires on my truck, all day everyday

4 years and counting of being able to do just about everything I can do on my laptop and more. If the screen cracks, I got insurance, for $149 I can get a new S9 or a newer model if they're out of S9's.

Just like cars, everybody ain't buying the most expensive ones everything a new model is released. I'm definitely not buying a $2k phone.

As far as computers go, smart phones are pretty shitty versions of computers.

They are useless for anything other than surfing the web.

Try typing a document on one. More annoying than using an old fashioned typewriter.

That said, they do have the best of both worlds where you can text, call, and get online conveniently. I still don't believe they're worth anywhere near $800. Plenty of adequate phones that are much cheaper available.

You comparing buying a phone to buying a car is more insane talk. Who said anyone had to buy the top of the line phone? My point was that the price is insane for even a so called top of the line phone. Saying you would pay $7K for a phone just made me realize I'm conversation with someone that either profits from these high prices or is just insane.

What I tell people who need the expensive phones is what's the need? What can it do that a 400 dollar phone can't? No one can answer that.

Like tablets, Apple talks about Ipad Pros and all that but it can't run Microsoft Excels macros which is a huge part of excel, it's a watered down version on a tablet that cost 2x the amount of a typical PC.

A 400 acer windows PC can do more than a Ipad Pro for a 1000.

And I believe you 100%, a phone, can't do much beside light basic gaming, and short emails, screen is too small for movies and it's not wise typing long term on a phone, it's just a quick look and respond device IMO.

I got a s21 FE and I love it, half the cost of my iphone which I sold for little because it had no 5G and no 120MHZ so I lost money when apple finanally decides to add it in years behind android.

They pro rate the discount over 3 years, to lock you into a virtual contract. If you want to switch, you will have to come up with the money. You have to look at the price of the plans and compare them to MVNO and other carriers. You might be better off getting an unlocked phone that basically gives you the same discount with a cheaper plan.

I need an international phone S22 that has bands for other countries and dual sim/e-sim. These rednecks and their crybaby terrorism is getting on my nerves, I want to curb stomp one of them.

My conspiracy sense are tingling. I think they're putting something in these phones to upset our mind and body's electro-magnetic frequency's via the 5g radiation emitted from these phones. I would advice caution when buying these powerful devices. Especially when they're handing them out like candy.

I been a continuous AT&T customer since 1992.

Back in late 2021, I got me and the wife iPhone 11’s.

Only paid $600 total for them on the AT&T site. Because I been with them so long, they discount them for me. I turned in the iPhone 8’s we were using. I always upgrade my iPhones about one to two units behind the newest release. By then they have worked out the bugs.

I noticed with iPhones, you can only get about a good 4 years out of them if you are using them more for a phone, text, social media and email.

When you do the iOS updates, after about 3 consecutive updates, you see a number of apps become sluggish or just won’t work. They will update the apps to only work with current and recent iOS updates.

And I noticed sometimes Apple will make the updates so damn large, you can’t properly install it without deleting about half the stuff you got on the phone after you have had it for 4 years

Forcing you to upgrade.

I know a cat still running around with a iPhone 7. He only uses it for phone, texts and email. The only apps he got on it are the defaults. He thinks like me it’s a waste of time to be upgrading that damn phone every year like a lot of folks do.

With most technology, you pay a lot of money to get that last 5-10% of features/performance.

$300-400 phones can do most of what most people want. A lot of people don't care about high-end features like wireless charging, 1440p/120hz oled displays, 5G, etc.

This is why brands like Motorola are big outside the country.. affordable phones are big in foreign countries and why on the low low the iPhone se 2020 edition was one of their biggest sellers..cause it was cheap by iPhone standards and yet introduced apple with a new customer base of people that were never part of the apple ecosystem.. even the iPad 2020 edition introduced a lot of new apple users cause it was under $400 to cop.. it’s why lot of these companies on the low low are releasing lower tier phones to get that market/demographic they overlooked b4

how much is the basic, unlimited plan per month? how long is the contract?

isnt it a 3year contract? (or 2 year?)

that shit not FREE, free.

36months x $100 = $3600

Why are people trippin so much over the idea of a "contract"? :dunno:
If you are already with AT&T right now, & you like the service, then cool
You can upgrade to a new phone, without having to pay for the new phone

Are ninjas really switching cell carriers every year?
Are ninjas really buying new phones every year?
Traditional "slab" cell phone technology ain't really changing that much anymore
And I'm talking about traditional slab phones, not foldable/flippable phones

Back in the day you had... HTC, Motorola, Samsung, Apple, LG
And it seemed like every new android software version upgrade, brought noticeably different/better changes
But now a days the hardware & software has matured so much
That's why you see some ninjas still rocking Note 10's and Note 20's, and not hardly missing anything new

Verizon had this same type of promotional deal, just a few months ago
I think it has something to do with cell companies cutting off 3G towers, by the end of this year
I'm assuming they would rather offer people a "free" new phone
Rather than piss of customers, because they can't get 3G internet service/reception on their older phones anymore

Most people responding aren’t at&t customers.. when seeing the thread we thought we can basically toss an old phone and exchange it for a new unlocked Samsung phone. But of course at&t knew lots of outsiders would try to hustle that offer and they threw in stipulations like being part of their subscription base. So this “deal” was only worth it to AT&T customers that didn’t plan on leaving.. so that’s pretty much the fuss like ohhhh those fucks had fine print with this offer

@CurtDawg I've had mine's (galaxy 22 ultra ) for 2 weeks now. Wasn't feeling it at first. Didn't think it was that much of a difference over my note 8.
Going to keep it as the janky screen protector I got off of Amazon was hindering the phone I'd say lol.

Do you know of any good recommendations on screen protectors or just fuck it, and buy a $60 zagg one?

@Soul On Ice
Okay, here you go.....
This screen protector also came with a separate piece for the camera lens too
And make sure you follow the directions in the box
Or you'll end up with bubbles under the screen protector
And don't forget to go into the phone settings & change the screen sensitivity

And I also bought this clear case....

Ok cool. I'll follow your advice
