They are doing it that way so someone doesn't get the new phone, then turns around & sells it tomorrow

Cool you don't have to pay to break away from a contract, BUT...
Don't you now have to pay full price for the new carriers phone?
These flagship phones now a days are like almost $1200
So unfortunately you might be paying either on the front end, or the back end

Damn I was about to do the crazy flip shit than ole boy showed the fine print about you have to get an att contract..plans done
And to get out of most of those contracts, you have to pay the full price of the phone, even if you have had it for 18 months. It’s like if you get a buy one get one free phone, to cancel the contract, you have to pay the full price of the free phone even if you had it for 20 months and the contract expires in four months.
Nah I'll pass
Call customer service and find out what the early termination fee is based on how many months you have left on the contract. Again 36 months is a long time.
