Facts are irrefutable mostly depending on the gullibility of the person doing the refuting.
BTW, just because you aren't listening or don't care to hear another perspective does not mean nobody else is... They were talking about a permanent Republican majority 3-5 years ago and McCain damn near got half of the votes last year, you need to step outside of your self-imposed echo chamber.

They only people that were talking about a permanent majority were the likes of Karl Rove and his ilk. The so called liberal media aped it, but it started with the propaganda minister Her Rove. McSame got his ass slammed. Obama won by the greatest majority in almost 20 years. Again revisionism is not factual.
20 years isn't really saying much-- Clinton never got 50%, 2000 was contested, 2004 was close... How many percentage points did Obama win by despite the incredible unpopularity of the incumbant and the economic crash prior to the election?
Bush got more votes than anybody in history in 2004, Obama got more votes than anybody in history in 2008... That's attributable to a growing population. It doesn't make them huge victories.

Obama got 69 million votes, McCain got 59 million (the second highest total in history). Despite the weakness of the McCain campaign and before Obama's current and inevitable decline in popularity (and in 2012 Obama will have to campaign based on Obama, not against Bush as in 2008).
But if you really want to believe 59 million votes in opposition equates to NOBODY listening to the other side... Enjoy your time in the echo chamber.

So, why not support my idea then VG? Personally, we probably agree on absolutely nothing, but, nevertheless, I think it would be entertaining for both of us if we read other points of views OUTSIDE of the current structure that's in place.
In 2004 John Kerry received the second most votes for President in history up until that point. Obama won by 10 million votes. 10 million votes! That was more of a mandate than what Reagan got in 1980, percentage wise. I know you still haven’t come to gripes with the rejection of the republican/right wing/conservatives ways that has been building since the shift in the senate in 2006, but as I have stated in another thread. You ain’t seen nothin’ yet! Wait till 2010! Follow the trends.

In 1980, Reagan beat an incumbent President; since you made the comparison, there is NO CHANCE IN HELL Obama replicates Reagan's re-election romp of almost 20%.
Also, I voted for Obama twice and likely will again... Nobody can even play the role of devil's advocate with you without you calling them the devil, which is just pathetic on your part. The conversation has nothing to do with 2010-- the subject was your statement, from out of nowhere, that nobody will listen to Republicans but themselves... More people identify themselves as conservative than liberal and the trend you report was based on an unpopular Bush administration which no longer exists. What is the current trend, post-election, regarding the popularity of Obama and his policies?
His success was more a response to Bush's failures than an endorsement of him and his policies. (No doubt, he ran a masterful campaign, but he still only won by about 7% despite the long-festering Republican unpopularity. By contrast, Bill Clinton beat Bush's incumbent father by almost 6% in a three candidate race [one factor among many why you can't just make direct comparisons between elections.)
I think he'll likely win but its far from assured and its just silly to act like he has it in the bag and nobody is even listening to the other side.
BTW, there is an important trend that favors the Democrats but it didn't start with the 2006 midterm elections...

For the record, I was wrong here-- Bush got 62 million in 2004, which beats McCain's 2008 total (which is just a hair above Kerry's 2004 total). So it would have been the third highest vote total in history.
I think the opponents of my proposal are against it more because of ME.
I feel that they are scared of opposition to their politics. The same politics that they really can't win a debate in. The facts is this:
Mostly every media news source have a section that SOMEONE can just tell everyone how they feel about a situation.
Personally, I feel that I would thrive in that setting. Only because I rather speak from the heart about issues that, I feel, have a profound effect on my life. What's really wrong with that? What some people fail to tell the BGOL public is that every opinion has a slice of fact in it. For example, I believe that lowering taxes will create more jobs. The fact is, history proves that cutting taxes, and spending provided an economic boost. So, please, spare everyone the excuses, and make an OP-ED forum. I have a lot of material I want to post
