like my mans above me said im a young cat and i listen to a lot of music and on the real and yes rap music today is a lil you know dead but fa real this album really is the only album since reasonable doubt i just sat and listened to since i dont know. there hasnt been a album i havent skimed through in like years so to cats that say young dudes cant get music, dude i been around more music then you could ever be around. my pops was one of the writers and producers for eddie kendricks and the temptations and other motown artist, Ronn' matlocks the name look it up im not making this up so when i hear good music i know it.

Im a jay fan heavy but this shit was mediocre. Anyone who is comparing this to doubt or better yet blueprint needs to really go back and take another listen. Lyrical excercise on blueprint was singlehandedly lyrically superior to any track or combination thereof on this album. I think the joint wit pharell is as cliche' neptunes as you could possibly get. That Roc boys shit is just ok and that hello brooklyn shit is abrasive and annoying. I took a break from my Little Brother cd to give the jay joint a listen - I quickly pushed the eject and put Little Brother, the Getback, back in. just my 2cents

I am not a Jay fan, he's a great rapper but severely over-hyped. That being said American Gangster is one of his best easily and is a very good album.

yall niggas probaly about 14 yrs old or something. jay z was tight up to the black album..since then he has become a caricature of his former self his last album didnt move so he tries to resort back to the baller/d-boy shit from his heyday to appeal to these young ass crack babies who think you must rap about guns/drugs only inorder to be considered Hot

it'll be hard to top Reasonable Doubt no matter what Jay does, but I liked American Gangster. That's all I have to add.

I have been very verbal about my distaste for Jay-Z's current career choices but I must admit, American Gangster had me put my foot in my mouth.

This album is so much better than the last one and although I wouldn't say it's s good as Reasonable Doubt...it is as good as that album for his place and time now.

That "Falling" song is in heavy rotation in my truck.
